Quality issues and subpar service department
After owning my GV80 Advance+V6T-AWD since 6/2021, it spends most of the time in the dealership for repairs, from 1 week to 3+ months intervals. I have many issues on the GV80, from lane departure, front sensing, frontal collision, engine light on and other system errors, while it’s less than 4,000 miles. As of 3/2022, the Genesis Navigation fails to route to anywhere, unless it’s offline! One would expect a decent dealership experience since Genesis is a fairly new luxury brand. Not a chance, they treat us like we have a $25k Hyundai, while it costs almost $75k (included markup on chip shortage). It’s surprising that even my daily driver, Honda, and the Honda dealership has better services. I will never get another Genesis until they are serious about their customer experiences, reliability, and invest in a separate dealership, not the currently Hyundai/Genesis setup. BTW, I have less issues with my 20-30+ weekend classic cars in of term of reliability! Also, the advertised Genesis Valet Service (sales gimmick) is a joke, their schedule is always several weeks away and mostly show up with a lower model vehicle as a loaner if you use it. Hence, they always recommended us to drop the vehicle ourselves to the dealership.

Disappointing
Beautiful, luxurious car….and that’s where it stops. I had the car for three months but it has been nothing but disappointment. Front sensor didn’t work from day one. We had to take it back to the dealership next day. Randomly sensors and cameras go off when idle at a stop light. Front sensor only works intermittently. Memory setting on the driver seat doesn’t adjust back half of the time after vehicle parked overnight unless set button is pressed. Terrible fuel economy at 17 miles per gallon. I wouldn’t purchase it again.

Car is everything they say, luxury, great handling, power ect… Service is non existent. If you have a service problem they don’t have enough Genisis service centers to handle the needs. Our G80 air conditioner went out , middle of June, the dealer can’t get us in until middle of July, yes that’s over a month with no air conditioning. Our car has 30k miles on it, I regret not paying more for the BMW or Mercedes, more expensive however more service facilities. So Genisis is a great car with no service available.

GV80 2.5 T 2021 advanced
I purchased this vehicle in April 2021. Car was running great for the first two months. Then it start displaying some intermittent messages on the central cluster with a triangle warning that said "Check lane change assist function" . 20 to 30 seconds later it will reboot the navigation screen. Reported this in September to Genesis and their recommendation was to upgrade the map software. Updating the software including the down load and install took about one hour. By the way there is no OTA update on this model that I know of. Updating the software made everything worse. Now the one connect stop working. No remote function works, like door lock, engine start etc. I cannot even reset the software to the factory setup since that require Connect one service. GPS doesn't function either. I think without connect one it can't find navigation information. After opening 3 tickets and two visit to local dealership Genesis opened a 4th ticket to assign the case to headquarters in CA. To make the long story short CA is working with their engineers for more than two weeks and as of now no resolution. Genesis is trying to fix this problem for almost 3 months. I am just wondering that anyone else has this problem. The car otherwise is great and I love to drive it. I would like to give this car a 4 star. But this annoying problem drives me crazy so I am giving the car only two stars. I will update this when they find a resolution to this problem. Update: Genesis headquarters called back and guided me through a hard reset on the system. That corrected many problems including the connect one issues except for lane change function message. Genesis told me that they are about to release a software by mid December to fix many of the known problems including the lane change assist warning that I am having. I should say that they are doing a good job. With this I am changing my rating to 4 star.

Terrible car even worse service
I purchased a GV80 2.5 Advanced. As soon as I hit 1200 miles, the car started making a whirring noise. Had to wait 3 weeks to get a service appointment and they said they may not be able to pick up because I was nearly 1 hour away. Told them I confirmed when I purchased the car and it was delivered to me (55min away) that I would in fact get concierge pick up service. They sent the salesman to pick up my car and left Genesis G70 loaner. They couldn’t find anything wrong with the car nor replicate the sound. Mind you they were in the lift NOT driving the car! I told them not to return it until they figured out what was wrong. The service director got involved, took the car for a ride and called me while testing it and finally heard the noise. They decided that it was the rear wheel bearing. Not surprising, it was going to take about a month for the part to come in. Two weeks later as I’m driving my car it had a loud screeching noise in the front left region. I called them and within two hours they came to pick my car up and left me with a Hyundai Elantra loaner! Magically the wheel bearing came in so they supposedly replaced it. The car still made the same noise so they performed the rear differential service. The car still makes the same noise. They contacted Genesis and were told that this “a normal condition and a characteristic of the vehicle”! The noise literally gets worse by the day and the radio volume is set on 10 to drown out the noise! NOT NORMAL! I contacted Genesis National, where I now have a case filed. I was to bring my car to another dealer which Genesis National called to CONFIRM my appointment. When I showed up at the dealership, they did not have me scheduled for a drop off, rather a pick up but the Genesis service guy was out sick so they weren’t going to be picking my car up after all! Oh! and by the way they didn’t have any service loaners available. I chose to drop off because I was able to schedule an appointment 2 weeks sooner. I got home contacted Genesis National again. They have a call into the dealership to see what went on with my appointment. To date, a week and a half later they still have not heard back from the service manager at that dealership. In the meantime, the original dealer was supposed to called me last week to schedule an appointment for an oil change and to take another look at my car with the Genesis engineers. This might not surprise you, but of course, I have not heard from them. I have never ever in 14 cars that I have owned over the years had such horrendous customer service. When somebody from Genesis National calls and they do not respond to their phone calls how is a customer supposed to get anywhere? So, here I am with my loud car not being able to get an appointment! They can’t lemon law because I can’t get an appointment. The “I’m sorry‘s” are beyond getting old at this point. Keep away from this car and this company because clearly they do not stand behind the product that they sell. It’s easy to slap a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on a vehicle when you’re not willing to service it. Since I’m reviewing it, the seats are NOT comfortable on long rides, the wheel jerks to keep you in the lane, the doors are very unpredictable when locking and unlocking and many times, I have to take the key fob out to manually lock or unlock. Not advisable to purchase 1st model year of a car. While I write this review, I think that it’s only fair to point out that clearly I got a lemon. It’s also important to stress the fact that Genesis is literally doing nothing to remedy the problem or to at the very least, go out of their way to provide exceptional customer service. The Genesis GV80 is nothing but a glorified Hyundai with the service to remind you of just that. Extremely frustrated and disappointed in this so called luxury vehicle with not so luxury and experience.
