So far, so good

2023 Genesis G70 3.3T 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl Turbo 8A)

I've had my 2023 G70 3.3TT AWD Sport (in Canada, same as US Sport Prestige) for just over a year and 9000kms after purchasing it brand new. I was aware of the small back seat and the smallish trunk - I really looked at this car as a two-door sports coupe with four doors. I was also aware of the poor fuel economy (I'm averaging around 13L/100kms in mixed driving), but didn't realize that the fuel tank was so small resulting in a ridiculously small range. I love the exterior and interior design, I think that the 2022 refresh had a dramatic improvement on the exterior look which is unique to Genesis - the pre-refresh looked fine, but very generic with cues from many different cars. The two main competitors for my money were the BMW M340i xDrive and the Audi S4/S5. I've owned several BMWs in the past, but I don't like their current exterior and interior design - two many polygon shapes and the "space ship" looking interior. The BMW has a far superior drivetrain with noticeably more power, better fuel economy, and the ZF 8HP is the best in class transmission; but their suspension tuning is not the BMW of old - it's too harsh in sport, and too wallowy in comfort. The Audi was much more attractive inside and out, had similar power to the G70, but couldn't hide it's nose-heavy FWD roots. Both Germans had much shorter available warranties, and cost significantly more. So far, The G70 has been sure-footed in my Canadian winter (with 18" winter tires, of course) and a powerful, fun car to drive enthusiastically in the summer. Fortunately, in Canada the AWD Sport comes factory-equipped with staggered Michelin Pilot 4 summer tires (like the US RWD Sport Prestige) - this likely is a huge contributor to the sharp handling, excellent steering response, and prodigious grip. The smaller interior combined with the well-bolstered sport seats give a much more close-coupled feeling than other sedans, but the back seats remain usable for adults for in-town trips. Other than the first annual scheduled maintenance, the car has needed a minor adjustment to the driver's door weatherstripping that was creating a bit of wind noise. Things that could be better: (1) the aforementioned fuel tank size (2) Lexicon audio - as another reviewer mentioned, it's excessively centre-channel focused to the point that it may as well have one speaker. Additionally, considering that the car has wired Apple Carplay/Android Auto and no hard disk or CD player, having a single USB input into the infotainment system is inexcusable - this means, for example, if you use Carplay for Waze, you can't use USB for music, only the radio or your phone. My previous 2016 Cadillac CTS had no less than THREE USB and one SD card inputs for the audio system!!! (3) the seats are a little too firm and flat - although firm bolstering is appropriate, there is no need for the seat bottom and back to be as unforgiving as they are. I haven't yet gone on a multi-hour trip in this car, but I can see the seats literally becoming a sore point. My CTS had firm but comfortable memory foam seats; the seats in my Porsche 997.2 C2S are more comfortable than those in the G70.

Amazing 2.0 rocketship!

Unless you are a Nascar driver, the 2.0 4-cylinder turbo is an outstanding match. This engine is the boss and it's performance is just amazing. Why spend another 8 to 10 grand for the 3.0 engine, seriously. I'm floored by the performance, available technology, comfort ride, quiet interior and quality craftsmanship, The ride comfort and steering feel is the best. This car plays two roles for me. #1 Comfortable luxury ride and sound. It will spoil you! #2 Sportscar drive when I get a bit rambunctious. Goodbye some Mercedes at the light along with others. LOL. The warranty and valet service is bar none, the best. The fit and finish is just top notch! Here's a secret I'll share with you. Find a new g70 with less than 8k miles or so. Mine was the Prestigue with a MSRP sticker of 45k, yet I found it listed at the Genesis dealer for only 36k and 5k miles!!!!!! I saved NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS OFF THE LIST!!!! and the car is new with a full warranty. I nO DEALER MARK=UP, NO DEALER "PROTECTION PACKAGE". I just paid the 1k dealer fee. Did everything on line, never set foot in the dealership! Brought the car to me for a test drive, took it back, I signed the paperwork on=line and they delivered to me the next day!

Everything is fantastic, but the seats

I got to drive it brand new and took it on a road trip with my family from DC to Boston and then around town for three days. The design both exterior and interior is state-of-the-art. The car feels definitely upscale and more appealing than square German autos. I immediately preferred it to Audi A4 I was offered which looks simplistic to me (I normally drive a Lexus). The tech features are impressive, especially the driving assist. The fuel economy leaves more ro he desired. However there is one thing that was a deal breaker for me and i would never buy it: the stiff seats that inadequately handle your body weight. I am quite slum, so as my wife, but the car left us both with back and butt pain after the 7 hour stretch on a highway and on the shorter commute trips in the city.

2023 G70 - Not what I'd hoped for

Quality Guy, 03/22/2023
2023 Genesis G70 2.0T 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 8A)

I have a 2023 G70 with only 4000 mi, that I bought new last year. It already has quality issues (2 medium and 1 minor) which is frustrating when you're used to Lexus quality. What I'm completely disappointed in is the customer service and lack of white glove treatment that I get at Lexus. I went with the Genesis over a Lexus because of the price point and awesome looks of the G70 and now I'm regretting that decision. This will be my last Genesis... going back to Lexus asap. Advice: If you want the best quality and top notch customer service go with a Lexus. The price difference isn't worth it. If you don't care as much about quality then I'd go with one of the German cars.
