Do NOT buy a Ford Windstar!
anxious
I haven't driven this vehicle yet so i don't know much about it. Owner says it is in excellent condition.
My last Ford vehicle
BLOWN HEAD GASKETS at 67,749 - 78,330 - 116,731 miles. Note that the two repairs failed to last as long as the original (which was an acknowledged design or manufacture defect). Each time the dealer claimed the problem has been resolved and now Ford has refused to extend their arbitrary 7 year 100,000 mile program. There is no reason to expect a "factory trained technician" is any more qualified to fix these problems than an independent mechanic. Yes, I had the TRANSMISSION BUILT too.
Should I, or Shouldn't I???
Now I find out, just purchased this car three weeks ago. With 98,000 miles seems to be doing good. After reading all these reviews, maybe I should sell while I have the chance. Like so many of you have stated, the head gasket has been replaced on this '95' also, i was told. Anybody like nice clean van????
Unreliable
The interior and exterior are sharp and very functional. The accessories are acceptable and preform normally. The drive train and critical components are severly lacking reliability. I put 4 transmissions (3 under warranty), a replacment head gasket and a computer. These are common complaints about the 95/96 Windstar. New transmissions/engines are no better as there are design flaws. I didn't know you could buy the whole citrus tree.
