Used 2016 Ford Transit Van Consumer Reviews
Big investment, bigger disappointment
Self employed HVAC installer. I opted for the 3.5 eco boost turbo. Wow if it wasn’t for the endless power, I would be out of my mind angry. 12 mpg...Too many problems for a new vehicle. First, the hesitation when shifting into reverse. Annoying. Then the interior lights won’t go off if doors are left open. They’re supposed to. After Ford replaced the Bcm, still on. Had to get a lot of jump starts. Then tore the front of the interior apart! A piece of the wiring harnesses missing... can’t communicate w/ Bcm. (Body cntrl module) Ford still trying to figure out what to do. The little things: drive shaft flex coupling has to be replaced every 30,000 miles, rear brakes wore at 20,000 mls. Have to pull axle out to replace pads, tires wear out fast, very involved job aligning front end! Seam in drivers door blocks mirror, backup camera screen too small, storage is poorly designed (stuff falls of/out) it goes on and on...wort thing: this is my source of income. Every time it goes to the dealer I sit and loose money....

Worse vehicle I have owned
My 2016 Transit 350 has been a horrible experience. Motor replaced 8000.00, new transmission 7500.00, 2500.00 in catalytic converters., 2 wheel hubs, replaced coil packs, spark plug grummlins , drive shaft. Over 20,000.00 in repairs. Been in service departs more days in 2018 that in my possession. Ford is no help.

Love the van, but beware
I own a 2016 Transit 150. 7000 miles. Like a previous reviewer, I was driving down the road and lost all acceleration and motor was puttering. Had it towed to dealer. Tow truck driver told me he just towed a transit to same dealer two days previous with same symptoms. When I first talked to service dept guy, he said the previous Transit needed a throttle body, but he would call when he looked at mine. Sure enough, throttle body. Special order. Only a few days in my case, but I also have to eat the rental car costs. Clearly a systemic problem. Love the van, very comfortable, great utility, but this shouldn't be happening to a 5 month old vehicle.

$48K to transport rescue dogs wasted
We are a large dog rescue. We own three vans: a 2014 Nissan, a 2016 250XL Transit Hi top and a Chevy cargo van. We use these vans to get dogs from shelters and move them to safety so a reliable van is a big deal. We decided to spend big and buy what we thought would be a workhorse for us. $48K and what we bought was a lemon. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. We have replaced the transmission (cost nearly $5K and that was to rebuild it not replace it), the AC has gone out, the catalytic converters have gone out, we've replaced a million sensors. It never ends. The day we drove the car from the lot (we had ours built to spec) the back door handle broke off. That was an omen. It's out of warranty so Ford doesn't care, but a cargo van that is carefully maintained should not be in the condition it's in after 20 months of use. UPDATE 9-21-19 The van was taken out of service at 3 years old. Total waste of money. The 2014 Nissan? Still going and going and going.

Beware
Had two sensors replaced at $350 a pop. Both exhaust manifolds cracked causing wiring harness to melt. $3200 in repairs.
