I bought a 2016 Transit MR 250 with the 5 cyl inline powerstroke engine. The power is very good and it is quiet too. C&D magazine was right, the 6 spd transmission shifts seamlessly with the diesel engine and the bigger disc brakes are very effective yet not grabby. I was pleased with the ride and performance from the test drive onward. It handles the road without much leaning and smooths out the bumps. Seating is a little upright but not uncomfortable. We got the rear windows only in our Cargo van. The split mirrors are very good and generally visibility is very good. The only blind spot I have would be eliminated by glass in the sliding door. Ergonomically, It is tight getting in and out of the seats and the rear deck is higher than anticipated. I added a side and rear step but, the Ford side door step is painfully narrow. The bluetooth works well and sound quality is good. The 6 speaker stereo is worth it if you like music. The back up camera and back up alarm work well together combined with the mirrors and rear glass I have no trouble backing anywhere. Mileage for the diesel engine has been 16 mpg around town. We have yet to make a road trip. UPDATE : The Van continues to perform well. Absolutely no regrets choosing this truck for our recreational hobby vehicle. Lots of room in the mid size (length and headroom wise) for dog agility and large RC aircraft hauling. The ride and performance is still better than expected. No repairs needed to date.

Self employed HVAC installer. I opted for the 3.5 eco boost turbo. Wow if it wasn’t for the endless power, I would be out of my mind angry. 12 mpg...Too many problems for a new vehicle. First, the hesitation when shifting into reverse. Annoying. Then the interior lights won’t go off if doors are left open. They’re supposed to. After Ford replaced the Bcm, still on. Had to get a lot of jump starts. Then tore the front of the interior apart! A piece of the wiring harnesses missing... can’t communicate w/ Bcm. (Body cntrl module) Ford still trying to figure out what to do. The little things: drive shaft flex coupling has to be replaced every 30,000 miles, rear brakes wore at 20,000 mls. Have to pull axle out to replace pads, tires wear out fast, very involved job aligning front end! Seam in drivers door blocks mirror, backup camera screen too small, storage is poorly designed (stuff falls of/out) it goes on and on...wort thing: this is my source of income. Every time it goes to the dealer I sit and loose money....

Cargo space great, drives very good, good braking and acceleration, even with 2k# worth of parts, tools and equip in the back. The driver's side of the cab is poorly designed. The steering wheel does not have enough adjustment up or down; the whole column tilts, instead of just the steering wheel head, as in previous vans, in/out is ok. The seat has to be pulled forward to adequately use the armrests and keep your hands on the wheel. Then, when one exits the driver seat, your right knee bangs into the steering column adjustment and a sharp edge of the badly designed lower cover. Maybe 8" of clearance between the column, in the fully tilted down position, and the front of the seat. One has to twist the left hand into an awkward position to use the cruise control lever. In certain sunlight conditions, the glare from the top of the steering column cover makes the instrument cluster impossible to read. Not enough brightness for the instrument cluster lighting during daylight, when using the headlights; hard to read. And, who thought to put the cup holder out of reach near the door?? The center console bin assembly has inadequate storage both top and bottom; not even enough room for one's sunglasses. The "storage" at the bottom of the console is almost useless; hard to get to, and items put on the little "shelf" tend to roll out onto the floor. The driver's seat armrest is annoying and aggravating; make it a fixed stop in the down position. The left armrest on the door needs to be flatter, and not angled either direction, and also covered with some softer material, similar to the right armrest. If the cab of the Econoline vans were "transplanted" into the Transit, a very much more useful product would result. Update 020817. After driving the vehicle for 11000 or so miles, my original assessment of the vehicle has NOT changed. No amount of driving and mileage will change the design of this particular vehicle.

Blown out differential, 22,000. Drive shaft coupling clacked at 33,000. Brake pads wear fast. Water in air filter when it rains due to poor design. Still no real fix for this. Will cost you money in down time.

$50000 4 months and 12000 miles later had to have the rear end rebuilt fit to be tied to say the lease now 1 month later 3000 more miles maki g the same noise back in the shop now 1 year later and being in the shop 5 times for the same noise they cant figure out ive hired an attorney and I'm going after ford under the lemon law bottom line is this vehicle is a piece [non-permissible content removed] and Ford onlyh wants to pay you hush money instead of getting to the bottom of the problem
