Free from problems! Free from complaints! Free from trips to dealership service department for repairs, free from stress and aggravation! If anyone looks hard enough y’all critical individuals could ruin a birthday party!😂👍 I’m 71 yoa, have always had the big trucks until my body wouldn’t permit me to get in and out of it without difficulties, or load and unload it because I couldn’t get in or out of the bed very we.l! So along comes this small Ford Maverick. Saw it, drove it….4 cylinder, gas, turbo. What a hoot! Also awd when needed! I’m 6’2, 180 lbs. Easy in, easy out, and comfortable! A terrific truck! The one and only thing that bugs me is the radio. Sounds great but it flashes messages telling you to drive safely ect. while driving!😂 A total distraction! I’m a picky uni and that’s all I can say about that! Buy one and enjoy yourself! Seats 5. Kinda tight in the back but will do! For me, basic truck is great. Added awd, gas engine, added larger tires and am getting 27-30 mpg! Thanks for readin*, hope it has helped you!,

Bought the xlt in October. I’ve been impressed with this little truck since day 1. It’s a pleasure to drive, great gas mileage and I can haul everything I need on the weekends! If I had one request, i Wish I could’ve had the hybrid with awd.

Much better than expected

Perfect little truck. At this price point I expected it to have a cheap, “tinny” feel. Not the case at all. Ride is firm if a little bumpy but I like the fact that Ford kept it more or less a truck. Doors close with a solid sound. Vehicle is much more “robust” than it appears in photos. Getting over 40 mpg on a 60+ mile one-way commute. Transition from ICE to electric propulsion is virtually seamless. Has enough pep so that merging onto highways is no problem. Interior, while plastic, doesn’t look or feel “no frills”. It has a 120 volt outlet than can power a laptop or phone charger in the back seat. Has another one in the bed. Corners better than I expected. Tailgate isn’t “dampened” but I installed a tailgate assist strut and it’s fine. I was a little leery of buying a first generation vehicle, especially with this being my first Ford as well as my first hybrid but so far, it’s been a pleasure to own. Great Job, Ford!

Don’t grade this vehicle against luxury and you will love it. Hybrid has the fuel savings and EcoBoost had the power. Either option is fantastic. My wife and I bought a Cactus Gray Hybrid and we love it! The hybrid still has enough to get up and go even if not as fast as the EcoBoost. There is nothing bad to report so far. 40MPG is fantastic!

Have had my Maverick 2.5 Lariat Hybrid FWD for 3 weeks now. I am impressed. Drives like an SUV. Rides like an SUV. Gets great gas mileage. 500 miles plus per 14 gallon tank. Controls are easy to use. Seats are comfortable. Passenger compartment is roomy for it's class. Look forward to using it to haul landscaping and small home improvement supplies this summer. This is the vehicle I have been waiting for someone to create for at least a decade and now it's here. It does have some small short comings. If you need a child car seat in the back seat the under seat storage isn't accessible without taking the child seat out. The cabin noise it noticeable on hard acceleration and at highway speeds. Not terrible but could have used some more sound damping materials in production. Feels like a solid little versatile truck.

Took delivery of Maverick hybrid XLT on Feb. 4, having traded a 2018 Colorado W/T. I liked the Colorado and was afraid of buying a new model in its first year of production. I did a lot of research and since the hybrid has a solid history in the Escape, decided to give it a try. I could not be happier with my decision. As much room as the Colorado cab, much smoother ride and the fuel economy is better than our Corolla 1.8 liter; getting well over 800 km (500 miles) per tank, 5.7 liters/100 km, about 42 U.S. mpg in mixed city and highway, some snow, slush, cold; should improve even more as it breaks in and warms up. If and when it is offered as a plug-in hybrid with AWD, I will trade up. 50 miles of all electric range would cover 50-60% of my driving. I suspect that other auto makers will be scrambling to come up with their own version of the Maverick. Ford has a real winner here.

Excellent build quality. Comfortable ride; handles well; and fuel economy well above the government stated numbers. I’d highly recommend this vehicle. This vehicle is very comfortable and handles much better than I had expected. It rides nice too, more like an automobile than a truck. Yes, it IS a truck. At this moment I have about 900# of bagged loam in my bed and hardly notice it. The biggest surprise, however, is the fuel economy. I currently have an overall average of about 48 mpg and many days my daily average is in the mid-50's. If Ford offers a Hybrid with all-wheel drive, I will be tempted to trade up. I live in New England and the winters can be bad. I will make that decision after I see how the front wheel drive works out this coming winter. More than likely I will put on four B F Goodrich T/A KO3 tires and things will be fine. I have always been a GMC fan and have owned six GMC trucks. This is my first Ford since 1965. I am very impressed with what they have done.

4,000 miles so far of mostly around town driving and getting 48 MPG on 30-40 MPH roads with some hills. It's a hybrid pickup on a comfortable unibody platform. Ford engineers and customer research did a great job on this affordable truck for 90% of the people who cannot afford $50K-$90K pickup trucks. It's not for people that need to tow heavy loads. It's not for people that expect a luxury car. It's great for Joe Homeowner that needs random stuff from the lumber yard for a weekend project and you can drive it around and it does not break the bank to fill with gasoline. With the money saved you can buy yourself two Mavericks for $50K!!! With 4,000 miles we should expect it to be good. I think the real test will be after it has 100,000 miles, but so far so good. Well done, Ford.

My Maverick was delivered in January and iI have put 2000 miles on it since. I traded in my 2006 F 150 on it as I no longer need the big truck. The Maverick has exceeded my expectations. It is very comfortable on long drives (350 miles to Nevada). I'm getting a solid 31 mpg. Seats are very comfortable and with plenty of adjustment. I'm 6' 1' and I have plenty of head and leg room. All controls are easy to reach. I love it and I am Estacio over this truck. Mine is the 2.0 Eco boast, not the hybrid.

I am absolutely loving my Maverick. I have the XLT AWD with towing package. It drives super smooth, has plenty of power, plenty of room, and is very comfortable. Pros: fuel mileage (I average 28-29 mpg, price, smooth ride, versatile truck bed, plenty of interior storage with a versatile console. Cons: not much to speak of personally. Just some individual preferences. (No auto up/down windows, gear shifter is a turn dial similar to the Ford Fusion I would personally prefer an actual gear stick). Update: After seeing other reviews about the size of the truck and it being too small for big people, I felt the need to mention that I am 6’ 5” and weigh 330 pounds. I have no issue fitting in the truck whatsoever. I will admit that for long trips (recently drove on vacation over 400 miles one way) that the seats might not be the comfiest, but zero issue with fitting. The seats are comfy enough for everyday use, and it’s a cheap truck, I wouldn’t expect la-z-boy quality seats.

Love hate relationship

I've owned my Maverick for about 5 months now. I love that a small tank gets me over 900 km in the city. Previous truck was an F150, which I don't think is the worst. The Maverick seats 5 comfortably and allows enough cargo for the home handyman. I've picked up building material, dirt, furniture with no issues. I love having the bed to toss bikes over the tailgate and returning bottles to the depot or garbage to the dump. It's just enough to do what the average homeowner needs. The hate. From day one, I didn't like the feel of it, it feels cheap. All around. The material in the cabin and all the features that it came with (not many). It's braking is inconsistent/rough. Engine occasionally stutters and groans on idle. The truck electronics click sometimes when key not in, and even when alone in the driveway. And the weirdest is an unexpected kick when coming to a stop. This does not happen often enough for Ford mechanic to diagnose. Feels like the engine/motor engaging. The first time it happened, I thought I was rear ended. Yeah, lots I don't love.

I bought the Maverick for an everyday - go to work - go to the beach, Type of truck. It’s amazing to say the least! It drives like a sporty SUV, the 2L EcoBoost has plenty of get up. Super easy to park and drive in tight places. Gas mileage is awesome, I average 26 MPG and I have a heavy right foot! Ford has a winner here.

As the title states, Ive had my Maverick for a week and I absolutely love it. I know its the honeymoon stage, but Ford has seemingly knocked this one out of the park. Ive been a Chevy guy most of my life until the service at Chevy became increasingly bad. Ford stepped up and created a whole new category of truck that a lot of people can now afford. Not only that, the MPG’s on the 2.0 version is fabulous! I’m averaging 30 MPG’s! The ride is comfy and and the creature features kick butt! Love the ACC!!! All in all its one kick a$$ ride!

Definite pros and cons

One year and 13k miles after delivery, XLT Hybrid Lux pkg. Pros are an interior with colors other than black, heated seat and steering wheel, ease of parking, pretty good average mileage of 35 mpg calculated by odometer and fill-up spreadsheet, decent stereo, good control layout. Cons have been a wiring harness failure, and this morning a diagnosed need for exhaust manifold and side curtain airbag replacement. In daily use, this little rig does everything I could ask of it, even dealing with snow in a decent way (with snow tires). But I'm not feeling super trusting of the build quality. There's nothing really competing with it that comes close on both size and fuel economy, so nothing I'd replace it with comes to mind.

After waiting for 5 months to get my Larit Maverick all I can say it was well worth the wait. I wanted something that got milage, I drive 30,000 a year. So far, I am impressed, I drive between 50% freeway driving at 75mph and 50% city driving. Averaging 41.7 MPH. Almost 3 tines the milage of my 2010 Ram,,,,Handling is fantastic it corners great, small turning radius and plenty of gitty-up for all my needs.

XLT fwd 2.0 Ecoboost not hybrid

Bought mine after needing a quick vehicle change in early Jan 2022. And was lucky enough to to find one with a small markup. Had been eyeing them for a while. A lot of reviews don’t give the 2.0 FWD much credit, but I don’t need awd or lots of towing capability. Nor the extra cost. Last car had all the bells and whistles, I’ll miss heated and ventilated seats, but I can handle it. Everything else is there. It’s very quick and handles as well as most sedans. Seating position is not too low and not too high. Mpg is great as I’m averaging 29 in mix driving and figure 30+ will be easy on road trips. So don’t hate on the ecoboost mpg ratings. Using my phone for nav and music is fantastic and easily formats through the touchscreen. Now 12000 miles and still enjoy. Easily get 32-33 mpg on hwy. manual rear window is useless. 2022 was totalled but found another in 2023. This time XLT with luxury package. Makes life better. Enjoying it even more. 12000k on this. Update! 23,000 miles 23 XLT. Still enjoying and rocking along. Feb. 2025 update30k still doing great. Replaced rear window switch under warranty.

Great little truck that won't break the bank.

(Not sure why there's no option for this in the vehicle details, but I am reviewing the XLT trim with the 2.0L Ecoboost Motor, not the 2.5L Hybrid) I was in need of a new vehicle and wanted to get something with better gas mileage than my SUV but didn't want to give up the utility I had with the SUV. This little mini-truck came along at the perfect time. I love that the styling is pretty no-nonsense and is very practical in design. No stupid stylish slanted buttress blocking part of the truck bed, making it harder to load large items over the side, no stupid wannabe modern art grill design, just a very clean looking small unibody truck. It honestly handles great, it drives more like a light SUV than a truck. It's built off the Escape platform which could explain that. But it definitely feels nimble and light, but still has the utility of a truck bed. The build quality is quite nice, except for the flimsy sun shades. But that seems pretty standard in most cheaper cars now-a-days. And I was kind of hesitant coming from a V6 to the Ecoboost 4-cylinder, but I'm pleasantly surprised. This thing has quite a bit of oomph when you need it, which is nice. I love that you still have the option of using an actual key to turn on the ignition. I can go on for a while why that's actually better, but that's personal preference. Actually having knobs and buttons for the A/C and radio instead of putting them on the touchscreen is much better for safety, so I'm glad Ford kept that standard. The keypad to unlock the doors is another standard feature I'm glad Ford kept around. It's actually extremely useful. Overall, if you want the utility of a truck bed but you don't need to do anything super heavy duty like constantly towing large loads or anything, this is the best little mini-truck on the market in my opinion. And the fact that it's also the most affordable one is a huge bonus...

The Maverick is an absolute joy of a compact truck. I've owned my Lariat hybrid for a month now, and enjoy every time I get into it. The ride is comfortable, the features are immense, and averaging 39-40 MPG doesn't get old. People like to be critical about the quality of the interior on the XL, but they forget this is the cheapest vehicle you can buy new at Ford while still getting tons of features.

Best New Ranger

Garret Nicholl, 10/27/2022

Let's be honest. Ford made all their trucks bigger than they used to be, even the Ranger. Then they made this, the new Ranger but called it a Maverick. And it's awesome! The functionality of the bed is amazing. I do roofing inspections for a living and I can fit all my tools like my ladder in the back with chests that fold out and have a bunch of stuff in it. The storage under the rear seats is great as well. The gas mileage is amazing, I average 27 mpg and that's with me putting 17,000 miles on it in 3 months. I drive the gas Ecoboost because gas is far superior to hybrid. The stock tires were crap. I put new Michelin Cross Climate 2's on it and it rides like a dream. The safety and tech features are amazing as well. If it wasn't for the crash prevention I'd have rear ended someone who squeezed themselves in front of me and slammed their brakes. The truck actually braked harder than I ever could. The side markers for your blind spots are amazing as well. I totalled my 2002 Ranger and then bought this when I had the chance. It's by far my favorite truck. Also keep in mind I only ever pull a small trailer with a single ATV on it. So it's towing capabilities is well within what I need. It's absolutely my favorite vehicle I've ever driven, and I'll only own this kind of truck from now on. The ONLY 2 complaints... 1) I wish the bed was literally 6" longer. I can barely not fit a little giant in there. I had to get a collapsible ladder instead. 2) Please come out with an update to make Android Auto Bluetooth directly to the radio instead of having to plug it in or use a secondary device. I currently do both and it's annoying when I need to fast charge my device.

I knew I wanted one of these since first reading about their release. I considered a hybrid but orders were closed on them by the time I decided to place an order. I ended up getting an AWD 2.0T XL model with Copilot 360 and a hitch. It took about 5 months to get it but so far I like it a lot. CoPilot 360 adds power mirrors and there are cost effective ways of adding cruise control, both of which XL does not come standard with. Otherwise you are getting a lot of vehicle for not a lot of money. The interior is very plasticky but it looks OK and feels well put together. The 2.0T needs a second to build power but it is strong once it does. The ride and handling are great. It is a little stiff but very controlled and it does not buck or skip around at all. I did upgrade the base steel wheels to alloys but some people like the look of the base wheels. It is all the truck I need and a great value if you can get one at or below MSRP.

No Comfortable Seating Position

I’ve had my ‘22 Lariat 2.0 FWD for six months. Primary complaint is driving position. Accelerator pedal is too vertical; brake pedal is too high (no heal and toe driving) and the power seat has to be all the way up to be flat. In lower positions, it tilts back. I’ve yet to find a comfortable driving position.

Hybrid model turns out to be incredibly unreliable, I have had nothing but issues for the last 4 month, 2 of which the vehicle has been "repaired". No every time it idles the entire engine rattles and shake the car. Stay away from this truck there are much better option out there.

Very roomy in the cab, good ride, great paint job, ( hot pepper red). Around town I'm getting 22 mpg. Was stopped by an officer of the law. He did a full inspection of the vehicle. Because his hasn't come in yet. Also inspected at Lowes. Seems everyone wants one. My significant better loves it. Very happy with my hot pepper. All six dogs approve as well.

Just purchased this vehicle after waiting 10 months form order to delivery. I have to say that the Maverick exceeds my expectations. I like that the interior is unique and purposeful. The ride quality is much more to my liking than the 2020 Ford Ranger that I previously owned. It has a quit interior at highway speeds. The transition from electric to gas operation is seamless. I'm enjoying the 44 mpg average fuel economy that I'm getting so far. Even though the wait was very difficult at time, it was very well worth it.

I picked up (pun intended) mine a couple of days ago. It has a smooth, crossover/SUV feel. It's not luxurious, but quirky rather than cheap, as some describe it. I saw a review that said it has crank windows. That's not true. I'm a landlord and already moved a pair of appliances with it. It was very capable for that small task. I bought the Ford Maverick in an XL trim. I couldn’t justify the market price adjustment for the XLT & Lariat that many of the dealers were asking. The truck is aimed at buyers who have never owned a truck before. It’s a unibody, front wheel drive and the bed is integral to the rest of the truck or simply put, you won’t be able to remove the bad to install one of those tiny aftermarket flat beds some folks put on their tiny trucks. I have owned 5 trucks, 1 small & 4 full size, prior to my Maverick purchase and I love this little truck. It does the trick when you don’t require an empty 8 foot bed to go to work or stop by the grocery store. The 4 cylinder turbo has plenty of pep, accelerates, & passes well. It has the brightest headlights I have ever seen on a vehicle. Speaking of headlights, mine was equipped with an auto high beam feature which is great. I like that it sits lower than a truck but still a little higher than a car. Its smaller size makes it a breeze to park & one doesn’t need to back in to the spot or park all the way across the lot. There’s plenty of room in the back seat for passengers and that same rear seat lifts up to a nice storage bin. I travel between sites as part of my job. I’m able to carry my tools behind the driver’s seat and I throw my laptop bag in the back there with my tools. So far I have been getting 27 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. It comes with a nice set of standard features such as a good sized display that supports Apple CarPlay, 6 great sounding speakers and comfortable cloth seats. What I don’t like about the XL trim is that it’s missing cruise control. For those that care about appearance, it’s also missing a nice set of factory alloy wheels. If it’s a work truck for you, then this wouldn’t matter. The XL trim also doesn’t get the door keypad or an auto locking tailgate. I wanted an XLT hybrid & settled for the XL 2 liter turbo & overall I’m not disappointed at all. I will add aftermarket cruise & put some nice wheels on it later. Several people have approached me about it to inquire what I think about it and if I like it. I do very much. My usual salesman told me I wouldn’t find one and if I did I better buy it. Good advice. What I don’t like about the Maverick is that the center display is dim and completely vertical and un-adjustable. It’s difficult to see in low light situations because it’s in dark mode and okay during the day. A few inches of available tilt may have helped. The other annoying feature about the display is that the radio will automatically shut off when you plug your phone in. The XL & XLT trim do not come with built in navigation. In order to use on screen navigation you must use your phone. The phone must be unplugged, the radio turned back on and then plug the phone back in again. I read that one reviewer was disappointed that there was no USB charging ports in the back seat. There is one of those 12 volt power receptacles that you can plug an adapter into which solves that problem. I’m also finding that there are quite a few companies making aftermarket accessories for the little truck to make it even more utilitarian. I’m also finding that it is hugely popular and developing a huge following. There’s already a Maverick Truck club community growing online. I will reiterate that I really like the little truck.

Ford hit a home run with this truck, exactly what we were looking for. Well-equipped for the price and gas mileage is great. More comfortable than we thought for a compact truck. We originally planned to use it just around town and short trips, but longer trips are in mind now. We have 2500 miles on it already and drive it everywhere. I have a F 150 for the heavy stuff. Really enjoy driving it.

The Maverick XLT was worth the wait. Though I ordered it at the end of June 2021 and didn't receive it until the beginning of June 2022, I'm really glad that I didn't lose my patience and cancel the order. It's a great little truck. I still have very low miles (+/- 3,000), but I'm still enjoying driving it. I got the eco-boost gas engine and my mileage is so-so in the high 20s. It's no luxury ride for sure, but I'm still very happy with it.

BEST - LOVE 2022 Maverick XL HYBRID

Urban female Tucsonan; never previously owned a truck; ordered sight unseen; ordered base model to see if I would like and keep; factory bedliner and Ford 360 were my ordered options and waited almost 10 months for delivery. Terrific customer service from Oracle Ford and FoMoCo kept in email contact with me on regular basis. My trucklet was worth waiting for; exceeded my expectations - so much value and quality with innovative design and 45 mpg!! But……..at the XL base price I could not order black leather or “vegan leather plastic” interior (only cloth - nice cloth, but cloth!) and the radio was very rudimentary…….wah, wah, wah. This has been my everyday driver and hauler for the past 9 months and I still love it……zero problems. So…….I have a 2023 Maverick Lariat with blackout package and all the loaded Diva options on order from the same dealership. The 2022 resale/trade-in prices remain excellent. I highly recommend the Maverick Hybrid for comfort, quality, safety, and economy.

I waited 9 months after ordering my Maverick to get it and the best thing I can say is I LOVE, LOVE this truck. It is a perfect size for anyone who needs a heavy duty vehicle without buying a huge truck. More room inside than expected in a small truck. It is very comfortable, easy to drive and maneuver. The bed is big enough to hall a bunch of things like mulch, plant pots, soil, wood and most things any handyman or women would need. Plus the height of the bed is easy to get things in or out from the side. I could go on and on talking about all the good stuff this truck has and can do. But the best part is the price and gas mileage, I am getting an average of 45MPG which is more than the Toyota Prius V I had before. Anyone interested in the Maverick, I say go for it. When possible put your order in, be patient and wait. You wont be disappointed.

Sassy Pick Up with Wow Factor

We pre-ordered the Maverick XLT Hybrid in 2021 and got it in late 2022to our elation. This pick up truck is cute, sassy, affordable and boasts great hybrid fuel economy for new owners and we had lots of personal inquiries from strangers with two thumbs up. One flaw is there are no fog lamps for a $37k vehicle which is not typical of most on the road. Another strange thing is their design with the entertainment display screen with its vacant cubby compartment nestled beside the unit as it would have been better to expand the screen size. Yet, many are delighted by the savings to the wallet, compact size and stylish design. It does not have the power of a F150, Bronco and Ranger but consider it and test drive one as more are coming. This is the first time we bought a pick up small truck, and it has been amazing on fuel savings in a crazy world with bloated costs and monopolies. The first few months were hair pulling as I tried to tabulate a consistent range on a full tank of gas, and it fluctuated like a barometer. It has a lot of positive features with some drawbacks like no handle grip bar above the driver, unlike our former 2018 Escape. There is a limited range in retracting the driver's seat but it is, nevertheless a comfortable ride. We got the cactus gray exterior and added cargo liner, sunroof, molded floor mats and managed to get the heated steering wheel before Ford changed it in the 2023 model XLT I was told. It was disappointing to see some added perks missing that should have been installed like lighted vanity mirrors, and ambient lighting (ford's is silly as it lacks flavor and barely is seen) and a light inside the passenger's side glove compartment. The vacant cubby hole besides the window entertainment screen was daft as many struggle to figure out what to put in it except for some websites (Etsy, Amazon, Aliexpress, Teemu) that have ideas with the Mustang logo cover plate, cell phone holder insert and others. It champions a good turn radius and spacious cargo box for a smaller truck and usually takes me about 25 days to deplete the gasoline and to fill it 1x month for $110.00 Cdn. It would last about 30 days if you commute about 20km/day. The rear seats are good for tall people, as I was quite uncomfortable in a Tesla 3 in the back seat and was anxious to get out after a short trip. Less pricey than the Ranger and Bronco, the Maverick is not only economical (Hybrid) but can adapt to any change in scenery and handled well in about 14 inches of snow on the West Coast of Canada. To be frank, subjectively speaking, the braking system is great and showcases good storage under the rear seats even with the hidden hybrid battery while boasting some recycled material which other manufacturers should follow. It is a lower ride than others like the Bronco but we feel it is better than the former 2018 Escape which was a crossover design. Like our former 2011 Ford Escape, the maverick impressed our family. Try it out..as it is far better on the wallet than others. The gas mileage range is marginal in cold weather which is lesser than warmer months because of usage of heat vents, heated seats and our steering wheel. Yet on a full tank of gas we'll get about 600km range in winter months. I have it photographed on my cellular and shown to the dealership that the Maverick gets about 916km range in warmer months even though it is a computer estimate. They could have put better tires on the vehicle but it still gives us the wow factor. The updates/recalls have been good including engine failure so Ford is doing their best.

My humble review of my new Maverick XL

I’ve been able to put about 300 miles on the new Maverick XL and yesterday had to drive to Tyler Texas to have Pro-Liner Coatings apply the bed liner. Beautiful job and I like the shiny finish. Today, I installed the soft roll-up tonneau cover and hood/bug screen and since I’m old it took me about 1 1/2 hours. I’m very pleased with the overall conservative look of the Maverick and I love the bright Velocity Blue. The black plastic rocker trim, black bed rails, black tonneau cover with black grill frames the blue of the truck. The contrast in black and the Velocity Blue is striking and balances the over look of the truck. Ford’s appealing design hits home with me in all areas. I’ve been surprised at the attention to detail which seems to be unparalleled in lower cost vehicles. We chose the XL because my wife didn’t like the brown interior of the Lariat and the light multi-tone of the XLT. I’m not sure what I was expecting with the XL Onyx/Graphite color of the XL because photos showing detail of the interior were not clear. The looks of the interior is surprisingly good, especially considering the low cost plastic material used throughout. I love the texture of the top dash material. When I first noticed the subtle angular design creases in the right front of the dash I thought it was crimped during installation. Although un-necessary they are a good look. I like the driver’s seat and discovered yesterday it will support comfortably in a long distance road trip. The materials of the seat covers have a nice durable feel, yet they are not uncomfortable to the touch. Dark interiors appeal to me and the two tone onyx/graphite (my description of colors) are a welcomed break from a single color. The varying materials and colors on the door panels and dash are also a nice touch. I was disappointed that Ford did not offer a leather steering wheel for the XL but the materials used are comfortable to touch and easy to grip. All controls are in easy reach of the driver and can be operated with minimal distraction. An oversight on the interior design is the lack of map pockets on the back of the front seats. I don’t like things strapped on the seats or a lot of exposed straps, and given maps are readily available on my wife’s iPhone through Car Play, we’ll leave it as is. We fully intended to purchase Katzkin saddle leather seat covers, arm rests and dash cover, but second thoughts are creeping in because of the pleasing XL interior. We are considering either carbon fibre trim treatments or if they become available maybe an ebony stained rosewood trim. The 8” screen with the audio is just ok. The Screen looks good and the controls are intuitive and easy to use. I’ve not used my wife’s iPhone with it yet, but I assume the interface with Car Play is typical Apple quality stuff. The audio plays FM music and the system probably doesn’t deteriorate the poor sound of FM music. I have not hooked up our old SiriusXM, from 2005 or so, but I don’t expect great audio quality, but again I like news and sports talk radio. Interestingly, Ford chose to have USB ports for auxiliary audio inputs instead of a mini audio port. I have to get a cable to go from the mini audio to USB to see how our add-on Sirius will work with the 8” screen and audio. Hopefully it will have some control. I have two more SiriusXM add on radios but haven’t found a great place to add them. Because of our age, we probably will keep the XL for a few years so an aftermarket sound and screen system with SiriusXM are not out the question. I would love to have a Bose sound system with maybe a Kenwood screen, etc. We’ll see. The instrument panel screen is a good size, bright, and feature ladened. The steeling wheel controls for the instrument panel and audio are intuitive and easy to use. Other than cruise, there are plenty of useful and easy to use features. The AC and heat controls are easy to use and the system works well for me. I can’t think that a more automatic dual control would suit us any better when considering the size of the interior space. I do like the dial shifter on the console but it took a little getting used to the location. At first I kept reaching for the column shifter only to realize it’s not there and look down for the rotary shifter. The rest of the buttons and features on the console are useful, especially the driving mode. The console is laid out well with the availability of the cubbies, shifter, cup holders, and the USB ports. I’m extremely pleased with the Co-pilot 360 from every aspect. I’ve not tested the collision braking assist, but the lane keeping assist is great. To test, slowly veering toward the empty left turn lane resulted in the lane keeping assist giving me a bright warning on the instrument cluster plus gently guiding the truck back into my lane. Again, with no experience with such systems the quick warnings but gentle responses were excellent. The blind spot warnings on the mirrors are a great feature that I quickly learned to use in traffic. I can see the benefit of the auto stop/start now having driven the XL in heavy traffic and sitting long sequenced traffic lights on the loop around Tyler. The gas mileage is pretty good. We live on a rural lake and the access road to our house is about 2 1/2 miles at 15 miles an hour. A trip to the local stores and pizza place have very limited speed limits, and the XL averaged about 24 mpg locally. Yesterday, I drove some 75 miles to Mineola TX and back at highway speeds and then another 110 miles to Tyler and around, plus the trip back. This included around 20 miles of considerably heavy traffic with several stop lights on the loop around Tyler. I even stopped at the Tyler Whataburger with the XL idling minimized by the stop/start active. Using Econo driving mode and stop/start activated for the total trip for the day I averaged 30.1 according to the onboard computer. Admittedly, I drove in a manner to save fuel. However, I love to use the Sport mode and it obviously changes things quickly, but makes the XL fun to drive. I’m thinking of an aftermarket intake and JB4 Tuner if the HP gains are anywhere near those advertised. 300 HP or so would be nice to drive, if gas prices go back down. The ride on highways is great and the suspension reminds me of our 1966 Corvette—ya know, stiff. In fact I love the way the little truck drives and behaves. It just feels like an extremely stable platform. The 2.0 Ecoboost is also responsive, especially in the Sport mode. The steering is responsive as well, and the suspension prevents body sway, which is a feature I really like. Braking is firm and responsive. Again, we haven’t tested the collision or emergency braking yet. Road noise from tires on rough black top is noticeable, so I adjusted the setting for increasing audio volume with increased speed. I do see sound deadening material installation in the future. But on most of our highways, the road noise is not an issue. I love to drive with the moonroof open and the road noise is not overbearing. Obviously, overall I’m very pleased with our choice. The overall cost of the XL was a consideration for purchase, however the XLT and Lariat were in our budget range for a new vehicle. Our last new vehicle was a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan for my wife and it was in the same price range, however included a few features Ford chose not to include on the XL. But, considering all, I have to give Ford Kudos for the Maverick.

I've owned 3 Tacomas over the years....a Ford Ranger, a Toyota T100 (pre Tundra) a Chevy City Express, a Toyota Matrix and a very forgettable Dodge ummm?? What model was that??! Anyway, I am here to say, The Ford Maverick tops them all by far in my opinion. The smoother transmission is what I notice most above the Toyotas. Also the storage nooks & crannies are awesome, not to mention the cool looks. Gas mileage is better, acceleration is quicker the sound system is better and the feel is heavier and more planted to the road. I am enjoying every single time I've gotten behind the wheel. Good decision on my part!!

I have bought a 2022 Maverick this past November of 2023.Started out good but then noticed steering wheel going to hard left or hard right.I noticed gas mileage was getting worse. Then the front end starts wobbling and I took it back to the dealership i got it from.Tjey said nothing was wrong. That just didn't cut it.I took it to anyone dealership and forced them to give me a front end alignment. After that the truck drove worse upon leaving the dealership! I couldn't get anyone to ride with me to see the problem.Still wobbly up front and so i read the Ford forum.FORD MADE DEFECTIVE CV JOINTS and no dealer wanted to tell you this.Hundreds of complaints and no one could do anything.People were and are waiting 2 years for new cv axle.As of Today Im at another Ford dealer and They confessed to me about the defective cv axles and the mechanic rode with me and felt the problem! Now im sitting and waiting for the end results. Will I have to pay for Fords mistake? I love the truck but i highly recommend you do your research before buying one!

I bought my 2022 2.0EB Maverick XL from dealer stock on 11/19/21. Paid msrp, got 0% month financing from Ford, Added soft ,roll-up tonneau cover, front splash guards, window air deflectors, deluxe floormats, and hood deflector. I made a protective bed mat from a 4'x6' 3/4" thick rubber horse stall mat. Also added CoverKing front seat covers. Retired, have 13,337 miles on odometer now-about 650 miles/month. Mostly rural/suburban driving, averaging 33 mpg. Color is iconic silver, so call truck "Ike". Operate a miniature donkey breeding farm, so have hauled 20-22 small bales of hay several times. Very practical, economical truck for my purposes, handles great, fun to drive. Live 15 miles east of Buffalo, NY, so switch over to four snowtires for winter. Have owned full-sized and mid-sized trucks in the past, but the Maverick does everything I need it to do, and rides/handles better. Loving my truck!

Love the great gas mileage. But it also is comfortable and rides and handles very well. Not crazy about the rotating gear change dial. The plastic interior can scratch easy. But I like the interior design and storage under the rear seat. It is fun to drive. To me it is like a prius with a pickup bed. Great gas mileage, yet I can move or pickup things. We went to a furniture store saw a recliner we liked. It was on sale for a good price they did not do free delivery, they wanted 168.00 dollars to deliver. Ok put in the pickup bed took it home! That is the beauty of this vehicle. They are going to sell a million of these trucks.

Don’t order one without sitting in it. I found a used maverick on a lot and decided to look at it before I put in my order. It was perfect until I sat in the drivers seat. My head literally touched the ceiling with the seat adjusted to its lowest position. I’m 6 foot and 1/2 inch tall. Deal breaker.

Maverick XL model options not as advertised

I bought a 2022 Ford Maverick XL (not Supercrew) with the options being the 2.0L Ecoboost, trailer hitch, and Co-Pilot 360. My two complaints about the truck are about the Co-Pilot 360 and steering wheel layout. The Cop-Pilot 360 says it comes with Pre-Collision Assist with Auto Braking and all information about that feature on the Ford website and the owner’s manual says that feature means the vehicle will automatically apply breaks before you end up in a fender bender. However, that is not true. All the vehicle does is flash a visual warning sign with audible warning. People at Ford say my truck does NOT have that feature even though the window sticker says “Pre-Collision Assist with Auto Braking.” I paid $540 for that feature expecting auto breaking and not just a flashing warning sign. Ford refuses to admit wrong doing. My second complaint is that the steering wheel controls on left and right side are opposite of what is shown on Ford website and owner’s manual. Apparently all other 2022 Fords and even maybe the higher-end Maverick have the controls on opposite sides than on the XL model. This is only a problem because of the options I have that are not on the base XL model which I guess most people buy with the base XL model. Maybe they didn’t figure many people would get the XL with the options I did because you need higher end model to get cruise control. Bottom line is they screwed up and won’t admit it and I wasted $540 on the Co-Pilot 360 which doesn’t provide the features the literature claims it does.

After one month and 1,500 miles my Maverick is averaging 39.5 combined mpg, a big help with gas prices rising. My other vehicles are a 4 cyl S10 and an E class MB. The Ford is the ride of choice right now costing half as much to fuel as the other two.

2022 Mav XL AWD I really like my truck and have had no issues with it over the year I've owned but there is 1 glaring exception- it locks me out on occasion, like when getting gas. I've learned to keep a spare key, just in case. Ford was made aware of this issue but I haven't heard a thing, go figure. This could become a dangerous situation depending on circumstances, be aware; it doesn't happen frequently but it's happened to me maybe a half dozen times over the past year. Maybe this is confined to the XL model, I'm not sure since I have received no feedback from Ford or the dealer.
