Denver to LA and Back - ST3 is Excellent

Fun, Practical, Comfortable - Even after 2 fifteen hour days, I still want to get into the car just to drive it! Driving this car is addicting. The car pull the passes in 6th gear, no need to shift. It still has torque to spare so even when someone cuts you off, you can still accelerate. Just unbelievable. When taking a turn too fast in the snow, the stability system allows the back end swing out a bit. Then apply power and the car pulls strait. Too much fun. I will have to take it to a tack when I put back on the summer tires. That sums it up with this car - it's performance exceeds what you can use on the street, but it hasn't sacrificed comfort or refinement.

Great so far, and huge improvement over 2012 Focus SE

I recently traded my 2012 Focus SE Hatchback 5 sp manual on the 2014 Focus ST with ST3 package (full leather Recaros). The difference is night and day- it feels like a completely different car. There is ample power and huge amounts of torque, even very low on the tach, and zero turbo lag. Steering, shifting, braking, and handling are all very tight and quick. While the 2012 felt reasonably solid, it did have a few rattles. The 2014 on the other hand feels like a bank vault- rock solid and dead quiet. The performance is stunning (other than a bit of torque steer when the throttle is pinned), I'm averaging 26 mpg in the dead of winter, and it's a very quiet and docile daily driver.

Best hot hatch value for the money

Total adrenaline rush to drive; fighter-jet cockpit; super fast and powerful; excellent turbo boost design; decent gas mileage even stomping on the go pedal; best-in-class handling; intelligent design inside and out by Ford SVT; great looks and exhaust sound; quality Sony sound system; A+ race red paint; perfectly matched with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tires; practical as daily commuter with the ability to blow nearly everyone away on the open road. Absolutely the best value for the money out of all the hot hatches on the market today, bar none. Ford hit a grand slam with this car. Only wish: the larger rotors on the front brakes should have also been put on the rear ones.

Review Updated 2/8/2017 Purchased in September 2013. Almost 3 years and 24k miles later, I couldn't be happier with my Tangerine Scream Focus ST. The paint holds up great and it still shines like new after every wash. From how it looks inside and out to how it sounds and performs, it's an amazing car, especially for the asking price. The fit and finish is solid. The only shakes or rattles I have are from the loose change and random things I have in the hard plastic storage bins. Road noise on harsher road surfaces does travel into the cabin (due to the relatively stiff suspension), so it isn't a quiet car on every road surface. However, on a well-maintained highway, this car is very quiet. Don't pay sticker and look for incentives. I paid $4.5k under MSRP for a loaded ST3 (full leather seats, nav, sunroof, tricoat TS paint, "cargo net", etc). My mileage isn't great for several reasons so it shouldn't be considered typical. My daily commute is short (4 miles each way), I stomp on the pedals, and I power slide when no other cars are around. Lastly, my insurance premiums are low. I compared my quote from GEICO to other Focus trims and it was the same. Go figure! Overall, I can't express how much I still love this car. I worry if my next car will give me this much satisfaction. I look forward to driving it every single day!

This car is great. Super acceleration. Much better than expected. Ride a bit harsh, but should be expected in a sport model. Good road feel. Brakes fine for the road, but I'd want to beef them up for a track day. Overall a very satisfying car. November 17, 17 update: took it on a vacation to denver, then roamed coming back. the rear holds a lot of cargo, and we kept all our bags there. very convenient when loading and unloading at motels. the car ran great. mileage was about 27-28 on the road. about 25 town mix. acceleration and performance when passing was superb. passes are easy and doable. the Recaro seats are the bomb for travel. very comfortable and supportive. used just a few dribbles of oil over 3,500 miles. overall, the machine is great for travel. sometimes, when cold, the transmission makes some noise, but it goes away once warmed up. take your time until it does warm up. thinking about taking it to the track this may, but not sure. we'll see. may 18, 18 update. car still runs great. it is still a satisfying car. Nov 23, 18 update. I liked this so much, I bought another for myself. mine is the st1, so I miss the leather seats and automatic climate control. I can do without the fancy maps and sat radio. they're both still great. Nov 2019 still a great car. Nothing exciting to report, wich, is good news. We keep her serviced regularly, around 8,000 miles for synthetic. still happy. 25 - 28 mpg. 5/20 Front end has started making some noise. Not sure if something is loose or if the shocks are going. I'll get it checked out next oil change. Getting close to 90,000 miles. Still runs fine. 5/22 update. Still runs fine.Spouse had a stroke, so not driving as much. 5/33 update. sold it at 97,000 miles. wife not driving any more, stroke. still ran great. 5/31 update wife died..sold car.
