Our Escape is driven infrequently with less than 3000 miles on the odometer in one year. It is comfortable and gets great MPG for short runs and in the 30 MPG on trips of an hour or two. While I prefer a sedan or pickup for my personal vehicle, this vehicle is primarily driven by the Mrs. I would definitely recommend an Escape without reservations to anyone looking for a vehicle that is economical, attractive, and keeps up with the interstate speedsters. :o)

Fun To Drive
Ride well good getting on and off ramps with the 2.0 Turbo engine Hugs the road love the back up system... Only thing so far I do not like is hardly no leg room in the back seats. Also need a some chubby holes upfront to put things in...(in the dash area).beside the armrest Good gas miles over the road...27mpg with the turbo engine

From a Mountaineerv-8 to a Turbo I4
FOLLOWING COMMENTS STILL HOLD TRUE AT DEC 2020 NEW COMMENTS - BATTERY FAILED THIS FALL NOT OUT OF LINE IN ARIZONA - WE HAVE GOTTEN SOMEWHAT TIRED OF THE LESS THAN COMFORTABLE RIDE WHEN ON A ROAD TRIP BUT THAT IS IT. CAR CONTIUES TO PERFORM WELL WITH NO PROBLEMS Overall car is awesome for our needs. we use it for road trips - to go to the White mountains in N/E Az. from Phoenix Az. so we go from 1000+ feet to about 7200 feet. We also use it for road trips we have been to Yellowstone twice, the California wine country and several trips to southern California. On our first two trips we averaged 28.5mpg going up the mountain to pinetop az.(with no A/C) and over 36 coming down with A/C. So of course are pleased with gas usage. (That compares to about 20 mpg average with the v-8 mountaineer, our previous SUV) The 1.6 will downshift with strong acceleration, but has enough power to feel safe in passing - U just have to get used to the roar as it downshifts. when we were coming back from the wine country we decided to stay in the slower lane due to heavy truck and car traffic so we travelled at about 60 MPH and averaged 36MPG - awesome General comments: neglected to get cross bars and trailer hitch so have added those . LIke to carry a mtn. bike and need capability to use roof top luggage rack - The escape can also tow a small trailer so can use for small projects bringing furniture home etc. Wife's car- her likes: She loves the leather, visibility as she sits up higher than in our volt. Loves the storage behind the rear seats I like the electric rear hatch. and rear camera for parallel parking. We just recently purchased and brought home a washing machine in back of the escape. My thoughts: Great suspension -Very tight - drives a little like a sports car with very responsive steering. FUN TO DRIVE Also love the satellite radio, good speaker system, and overall interior. I added rubber mats as I dislike the cloth. I also like to downhill ski - the front wheel drive works well in the snow. We carry chains just in case we hit heavy snow and work well with front wheel drive. New update Dec. 2019. still love the car. Wish I would have gone with the bigger engine and had more safety tech. added. There are so many huge SUV's and Pickups in Phx. That we often park next to or between them. Very difficult to back out of a spot as cannot see oncoming traffic. Would also like blind spot monitoring for highway driving. Even though the 1.6 Escape has some zip I would still also prefer the bigger engine for more towing capability and would like all wheel drive for our trips in snow country.Again car has been great absolutely NO problems with anything. Outstanding Reliability in first 4 years - only maintenance to date -oil changes and tire rotation.

Escape great with a few arghs
Great choice. Drives like a dream. This is the Titanium and has the 2.0 Eco Boost which is not on the list above. Voice commands (Sync) are confusing especially when using navigation. Tried to tell it to nav to Ojai. Got a reply that this was not understood. I had to pull over and manually type in Ojai before the nav would work. Not really a Ford issue but thought I would mention it. Great hands free rear door that is height programmable. Important if you have a low garage door. I am disappointed about the MPG. Not what was advertised but the Escape is still new and might get better. More expensive then I wanted to spend but overall it is a great choice for a smaller SUV. My wife loves it and after all isn't that what life is about?

Going Backwards
I have been driving a Ford Escape Hybrid for the past 6 years and LOVE IT, so I naturally went looking to buy another one. Imagine my surprise. While it is a beautiful vehicle with lots of storage in the back, there is no place to put ANYTHING, including a cell phone in the front. They took away every nook and cranny. While I LOVED the Jukebox feature whereby I could upload all of my music to the hard drive of the car and easily access it, they took that feature away. They also took away the ability to play a DVD on the screen in the front seat of the car. On long trips, I loved taking a break at a rest area and mindlessly watching a DVD while I rested. Also taken away were the wonderful mirrors within mirrors so that I could see if a vehicle was in my blind spots. Now there is a warning light, but you can't actually SEE the vehicle. So, while there have been some wonderful improvements, I will miss those four features immensely.
