Been shopping for a small SUV for quite some time. Had a 2005 Ford Escape XLT and sold with 128,000 miles. Was excellent vehicle and had only regular maintenance, and no major repairs. After looking at what the current market has available (Honda Pilot, Toyota, GMC, Dodge and GM) and tested, kept coming back to the Escape. My main concern was no available V6, only the inline 1.6 or 2.0 with turbo. I worried about having to always run high rpm's and wasn't sure about engine longevity. After driving the Titanium with optional 2.0 L, Package 301 and navigation system a few times, I was completely sold on the 4 cylinder. Has great power, turbo is smooth and rpm's are surprisingly low. Comfortable ride and the new Sync3 is reasonably easy to learn. Fit and finish is also excellent. I did not opt for the 19" wheels, just the standard 18". Have read a few reviews that the 19" wheels made for a bit of a rougher ride. I did not test drive any that had the 19". With 240hp rating, it's much faster than my 2005 V6 was. I also have the class II towing package, rated at 3,500 lbs. At this time, I don't have anything near that range, so assuming it won't be a problem. Have also seen that various auto reviews have been very good. Hoping the reliability factor will meet with what I had on the 2005. Now have 12,650 miles as of May 16, 2018 and have had absolutely zero problems with the vehicle. Everything works like it is supposed to and love it as much as the day I purchased it. No rattles or decrease in power. Still ecstatic after almost 3 years! Now, as of November 18, 2018, have 16,200 and still have zero problems with vehicle, no rattles, no decrease in power. Everything as great as the day of purchase on Oct 31, 2015. Never have owned a new vehicle without having to take it in for SOME problem, until this vehicle. Just purchased the Ford extended warranty but thinking, maybe not needed!! As an update as of November 19, 2019, still love my Escape as much as the date of purchase. Only maintenance issue as of this date, was the replacement of the battery, replaced in October, 2019. Other than that, there have been no issues or repairs. The vehicle has performed flawlessly and extremely happy with the performance, the condition of the exterior and interior. As of May 19, 2020, I now have approximately 22,000 miles with no problems. I admit the mileage has not increased significantly due to the stay at home requirements for the Covid-19 pandemic. However, other than the battery replacement, my vehicle has performed flawlessly. It has maintained the same power and performance as it had when new.. First new car I ever had that I absolutely have not had one problem with as long as I've owned the car. As previously stated, I purchased this car on October 31, 2015. I'm completely sold on the Escape. Even the tires have worn exceptionally well. I must say, I have not driven this vehicle off road on sand, stone or rough terrain. The vehicle is tight, no rattles, no leaks and the interior has held up magnificently! As of November 20, 2020 happy to announce that even 5 years since purchased new....not one instance of any repairs. Have 26,000 miles on vehicle and everything works as new. Vehicle still tight, no rattles and only have scheduled maintenance other than the aforementioned battery replacement. Have NEVER owned a vehicle that I purchased new, that I did not have repairs after this amount of time or mileage. Vehicle is absolutely magnificent!! Still give this 2.0L Escape 5 stars. Now have 26,050 miles on the vehicle as of May 19, 2021 and purchased a new set of Michelins. Other than oil changes, battery and tires, have had virtually no actual repairs or problems. Paint, interior, exterior fit and electronics have all held up wonderfully. Been an actual dream after owned almost 6 years. Can't say enough about the vehicle. Now have 30,200 miles on vehicle as of May 24, 2022. Just finished a road trip from S.W. Florida to Wake Forest, NC area. The Escape is still flawless. It still has excellent power. Speeds up to 90 mph and it didn't seem to labor at all. Fuel mileage was averaging 24.5 on the trip, using regular fuel. Still have not had any malfunctions or repairs, other than previously mentioned battery and tires. Comfort is still great. No wear on the interior or exterior. Paint quality is still excellent. Will continue to give this 2016, 2.0L Escape Titanium, 5 outstanding stars. Cannot emphasize how much I enjoy this vehicle! This vehicle has continued to be flawless. Just replaced the battery in November, 2024. Now have just under 40,000 miles. Only have had standard maintenance service on vehicle. No leaks, rattles and interior still looks like showroom condition. The leather seats have remained immaculate. All electronics have continued to be in perfect order. The paint and finish have remained mirrorlike. Can't say enough about this vehicle. Have owned 9 years 2 months now.

I have the 2016 Escape Titanium with the 2.0 L engine. This SUV has lots of power and handles very well on the road. The Titanium level is loaded with many options and features. Navigation system is very easy to use as is all the function on this SUV. Interior finish quality is first class as is the exterior styling. Love the cargo room and foot activated rear hatch. If anyone is looking for a compact quality SUV with many options the Escape Titanium is the way to go.

Great practical car. Nice finish inside and out. Good acceleration with ecoboost. Voice commands could work better. Rear sensors, camera work well. Auto lift gate works as advertised. Great around town smaller SUV. Combined mileage has been lower than expected at about 19.5.

Transmission Defect

My Model is the 2016 Escape Titanium FWD (front, not 4-wheel) 2.0 L GTDI Echoboost Engine 6-SPD Selectshift Auto Trans, with a sticker price of $33,624.99. There is a bad "shudder" in the transmission which is felt and heard when going from reverse to drive. My dealer says, after I had it in for repair 2 times, once for 4 days, "Ford Motors is aware if this ISSUE in these models. However, they are not authorizing any repairs at this time", giving me no time frame as to when a solution might be found. I only have 1200 miles on this vehicle, and owned it for less than 90 days. My dealer (Sander's Ford, Jacksonville, NC) is offering me no solution, buy back, or promise that I might be broken down on highway or what this means for my investment. Service manager referred me to the Ford Hotline Consumer line to "open a case" on my particular vehicle, this was more of the same run around that it will be fixed as soon as the engineers come up with a solution. Then told me to try coming to a complete stop and very slowly take off, and I wouldn't feel the "shudder", which I loved being told to drive it differently to accommodate their defect. I am livid with Ford Motors, and the dealership who is still selling these 2016 Escapes right now from their showrooms and lots. Are they telling buyers today that there is an "Issue" with the transmission ? Did they know of this issue when they sold me mine ? Cannot get a timeframe on how long they knew of this issue, but know I bought one of the first 2016s from Sander's Ford. Looks like I am stuck with this vehicle and at their mercy, but I surely am going to spread the word about not being told and it having a warranty that they will not or cannot use to repair transmission. Next step is going to be the BBB in our area for misrepresentation of this new vehicle, sold with a known defect. Apparently, this "Hot Line" is just a drop box for these issues until they get enough complaints, then they issue recalls. Meantime their unsuspecting buyers/customers are making payments on something that may or may not be dependable. Ford had a "better idea" so they thought, about the Pinto, which they put people off for so long that many people were burned to death..then they recalled ! Think they would learn. Don't think I will ever be happy with this car, no matter how it ends, and will never buy another Ford. Update May 2016 "Still no offer to correct, or update from Ford as to a possible solution> Not happy with Ford's lack of concern with this issue." Still no offer from Ford to correct or even a progress report on a solution November 10, 2016.

The 2016 Escape has been an outstanding SUV. I had a 2005 Mazda Tribute before this SUV and the upgrade to the 2016 Escape is outstanding. My fuel Economy is greatly improved and Maintenance is a lot lower. The Driving with the 2.0L has been a blast and the SUV has increasable speed that make you move. The very best thing in the SUV is the design and look inside as the model I have is the higher end with all the bells and whistles. I think for the price and what you get in this SUV is a great bargain as friends that drive MB and Audi model now prefer driving my Escape at time, Thanks FORD for a great new fast and comfortable SUV. I want to mention that I looks around at a lot of models including the Edge but found the smaller Escape better sized for my needs.
