Used Crown Vic. Can't go wrong

Got 23.5 mpg driving back from San Diego the day of the purchase. Put duals on it and got 28.9 mpg. Power is more than enough, comes out of passing gear at 90 mph and handles quite well in winding roads, not much leaning and didn't break lose unless put into the curve really hard. I'm 6'3" and find more than enough room for me in the drivers seat or shotgun.. rear seats no. Road noise on concrete Hwy is a bit loud. Going to put some QuietCar in the trunk, which is super big and can handle all.

Wish they still made these! I'm on my second crown victoria and I don't want to drive anything else. Unbelievably comfortable and smooth ride and super reliable. About the only thing you have to look out for is the plastic intake manifold to crack. Plenty of power for a big car. Get one while you still can.

6 years on 9-YO Police Interceptor, zero problems

Bought this Crown Victoria Police Interceptor battleship in 2016 at a police auction, for $2500, 93000 miles. It had a rust spot on the hood which told me it had been garaged for a long time. All it needed was a battery and 4 new tires and it was good to go. Since then (6 years, now 125000 miles) it's had one brake job, 1 more battery, 1 transmission flush and oil changes (less than $1000 total in maintenance). It loves to be driven, sometimes I think it wants to come out of retirement and go catch bad guys. A box trailer hitch added weight and traction to the rear end, it goes in snow. It gets less gas mileage than a newer car, but hey, everybody thinks I'm a cop and nobody passes me (but people wait at 4-way stop signs). One time the real cops needed to pass me, to get out of the way I floored it and it took off like an F-16 on afterburners. Reading the owners' manual, the CVPI is made from special high-reliability parts. The doors are said to contain Kevlar bulletproofing The undercarriage is slightly higher than normal for going over curbs. The alternator and oil cooler are extra large.

I purchased my 2006 Crown Vic LX in 2020 with only 46,000 miles on the clock. The color (Tungsten) was only available on this and the Ford GT350. Immaculate with leather interior, and it runs like a dream. I placed two fake magnetic antennas on the roof, and I get friendly waves from on-duty police as if I'm in an unmarked vehicle (In addition to the occasional first responder discount at the Dunkin drive-thru). Now passing 112,000 miles, and I'm going for 300,000.

Great car, if you are not doing uphill starts.

Had it for 2 years, and driven across the whole of the US 3 times in it. Pros: - Reliable. If serviced properly it will run beautifully, even if you don't change oil often. - Cheap! you can buy one for 4,000 USD - Spacious. I am 6'3" and I had enough space in it to sit straight. The boot is spacious enough and if you need more space black seats are there. - People think you are a cop so they let you through. The ride is very smooth and not noisy at all, can fly on an interstate like a monster. - Spare parts. I had several accidents when people crashed into me, the parts were easyish to find, and fixing it was not a problem. - It has clearance enough to go offroading. Try not to go into mud though with your RWD, that was a mistake. But climbing up a mountain dirt road or going to a lake is good enough. Cons: - Uphill starts. Starting up a hill even with overdrive is a challenge. We had a a big hill after a roundabout where I live and going up it was a struggle every time. In fact, it's not the fastest car for a drag race from 0 to 50. - MPG. just poor, driving in a city is even worse, you will be spending more money on gas than any more modern car. - Electrics! If your police department did a good job removing things they didn't want you to have, good for you, if not best of luck. It took us 3 months to fix the horn, had to get LVPD schematics to find out what they did with it. - Spare Parts. Even though they are easy to find in scrapyards, it is not necessarily you will have the same or even have a part there at all. I spent half a year looking for a passenger seat in decent condition.
