I LOVE this truck!
We have a small farm and use the truck for basic transportation, recreation, long trips and hauling loads. For a big powerful truck it has great fuel economy (18-19 mpg pulling over 18,000 lbs and regularly over 22mpg empty - the BEST I ever got was 28mpg on a long trip)! Great resale value. Relatively comfortable, good visibility, dependable. I've put over 140,000 miles with only normal maintenance, replacing the serpentine belt, batteries and at around 120k mi, upper and lower ball joints.
Quad Cab 4dr Diesel Auto LB 2wd SRW
This 3500 series truck has the 325hp 600#torque diesel engine. It tows my 32'5th wheel with ease. Wife likes the power adjustable pedals and power adjust both front seats. It gets better mpg than my 2000 diesel did. More rear seat leg room is nice as is the quieter diesel engine.

Amazing Truck
Have a Ram 3500 HO diesel. In a word the truck is phenomenal. It drives like a 1/2 ton, it's comfortable, reliable, has great looks (I recommend the sport package), and has unbelievable power. I live in snow country and it drives through snow (no matter how deep) like it's not there. I actually pulled 2 (yes, two) trucks out that were both stuck in the snow (an older dodge and a ford), and my 3500 pulled them both out together! As if all of this isn't enough, I average about 14 mpg around town and always get over 20 mpg on the highway (makes you think the fuel gauge is stuck). The Big 3 all make good trucks - but none better than this one.
My Baby Girl
Best diesel on the market. I have not had any problems at all and it drives wonderfully. I have put nearly 30,000 miles on it and it is just starting to break in. Mine is single wheel rear end so it goes places that the duals cannot. Great Truck!!!
Best of the best
Had my 04 for 3.5 years now. Have had to replace 3 lights (1-fog, 1 headlight and 1 brake light) and the lift pump. Replaced my Michelins with Bridgestones and am still "paying" for them. Cost me almost 5 mpg. Still get 22+ , but the 28 @ 62 mph was pretty sweet. She loves 75 and 80 , but you better have deep pockets , 17 mpg empty 10.5 pulling fully enclosd car trailer. Bought it when I retired hoping it would easily outlast me. So far so good .
Great Truck
Vehicle amazes me everytime I drive it. Unreal power on towing hill terrain. The Cummins motor is living up to every expectation. Recommending this truck to everyone. Good towing mirrors.
best truck ive owned
I have had ford, chevy, dodge, and toyota and this is by far and away the best i have had! I have 128,000 miles on my 2004 and have done basically nothing to it (brakes and universal joints) thats it. Reliable as it gets, whether its -30 degrees or 110 the truck will always start the first crank. Great towing capacity and stability. handles like a car and rides good (with a load in the bed). The 4x4 is the most aggressive i have had. I bought a ford f-450 to replace this truck because i need a utility body and i do not like the ford at all! The dodge is superior in every way except for cabin room. Needless to say i am selling the ford and buying a dodge 4500 utility!!
Dodge Quality Built Trucks
I bought this truck so i could transport everyone in the household in one vehicle instead of two. This truck is also able to do the work that i need it to do. This truck rides like a dream you would never think a one ton truck could ride so good. My old 1988 half ton Dodge didn't ride as good.
dependible
great truck does a great job on fuel economy averaging 20 plus miles per gallon and maintence is a big plus oil change every 15000 miles verses competition 3000 miles never gave me any trouble very reliable and power is also very important it has more power than compatition but i wouldn't mind having more power
Accidently try to kill by fueling with g
I was dead tired and thought I was filling up with diesel but mistakenly filled with 34 gallons of unleaded and drove south up the Ashley grade on I 5 and when I passed the top it shut off not sure why it didn't blow up . That happened at only 59,000 miles now it has 105,000 and still runs perfect. I just LOVE this dang truck its awesome...
Great Truck
I needed a truck to pull a 12,500 lb trailer and this is it. I bought the new "600" diesel with a six speed manual. This truck pulls great and the manual shifts very smooth.
All around awesome
I own a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT 4x4 HO Diesel and I love it. It is a great truck for hauling anything and it looks very nice. I have it in Patriot Blue, my personal favorite. It gets almost 20 mpg on average. Everywhere I go people stare and ask all about it. I did my research before buying and ending up getting a great deal on a great truck.
RAM3500
THE TRUCK HAS PERFORMED AS WELL AS ANYONE COULD ASK FOR. THE FUEL ECOMOMY IS GREAT, WHILE STILL HAVING LOTS OF POWER TO PULL MY 33 FOOT FIFTH WHEEL. THIS IS MY SECOND CUMMINS ENGINE, AND WILL NOT BE THE LAST. I AM A FORD GUY USUALLY, BUT THE POWERSTROKE DOES NOTHING FOR ME. IT IS STILL NOISEY, LIKE THE OLD 7.3, AND DON'T SEEM TO PULL AS WELL.
Brute
First diesel and will never go back to gasoline. Unbelieveable power, will pull anything you can hitch up. A bonus is the fuel mileage, I get 17-19 around town and get 21-22 on interstate when keeping it around 62- 65 mph, around 2000 rpm. Get above that and it drops to around 18 empty. Pulling my trailer with about 3500- 4000 lbs, I get 15 mpg. Much better than my previous gas truck. Ride is a stiff, but what do you expect from a 1 ton truck. It drives well and is responsive for a big truck. Spend extra for the Infinity sound system, it's worth it. Should also consider more agressive tires if going off road any, stock tires are more for street. So far, not a single problem with the truck.
Stuck on Dodge
Starting with a 91' Dakota I graduated to bigger Dodge trucks over the years, a '95 Ram 1500 Club, '03 Ram 1500 Quad and now a '05 3500 turbo diesel. The comfort is unbelievable for a HD truck and given extensive spinal surgeries this is a must! I test drove Ford and Chevy 1 ton trucks and just was not happy with the comfort and sound level of the the other Diesels. Cummins has done a great job in increasing power while reducint the "typical" diesel sound and keeping things simple enough so the average shade tree mechanic can easily work on the engine. Overall package offers most "bang for the buck" and excellent build quality.
Dodge shortbed too short for fifth wheel
Having driven this for 16,000 miles, towing a 15,500# fifth wheel trailer I hate it. 1. Distance from center of rear axle (center of hitch) to back of cab is 5- 6" shorter than a Chevy. The 6'3" bed coupled with the 140" wheel base places the nose of the fiver too close to the cab even with sliding hitch. I have damaged cab. 2. You can't put an exhaust brake on any Dodge AT older than a 2006 without extensive modifications or risk burning up the tranny and losing warranty coverage. Dodge fine print says this truck is only good for 10,000# without an ebrake. 3. Dodge does not come with rear inner fender tubs. You have to buy these at $100/set. 4. Headlights very poor.
I LOVE THIS TRUCK
THE NEW 04'S ARE FREAKING AWESOME. THE NEW TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTHLY. THE TOW/HAUL FEATURE WORKS GREAT WHEN TOWING A BIG LOAD OR DESENDING A STEEP GRADE. THE INTERIOR IS THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY. THE BACK SEAT COULD USE 4" MORE INCHES, BUT IS MUCH IMPROVED OVER PREVIOUS MODELS
3500 Dualie
I really like driving this truck! Seems odd, but it is very well equiped and it looks great on the road. The Cummins HO motor is so easy to work with and it can pull your house down, as well as anything else you may need to tow. It tirelessly cruises the highway with a heavy load and never feels over-worked. This truck gives you confidence!
It is new but way better than my 2002
I just purchased my new truck and have only 600 miles but I already love this truck more than my 2002 H.O. So far I am getting 21.5 mpg and it has alot of power. It is so quite with just enough diesel noise to enjoy. The interior is awesome with the four doors. The features of the laramie package are the best. I wish I had more to tell but just purchased the truck but so far this is by far the best truck I have ever owned.
Great fun HEMI DUALLY
This truck does everything well...did not need a diesel..liked the thought of the new HEMI...glad I did...best vehicle I have ever owned. All my friends are always checking it out...it is a Black RAM 3500 4dr Sport.
3 Years and 57,000 miles later...
I've really enjoyed this truck. I tow large deck goosenecks around town and the country and this engine/tranny/truck combo has been everything I wanted. It's a bit of a pain in town, but that's what you get with a DRW hauler. Only one issue presented itself since purchase, an A/C compressor leak at 36,000 miles. Factory repaired under warranty -- and living in Houston we're pretty hard on A/C units! Tires and maintenance costs are expensive on these rigs, but they pay you back with reliable operation and endless power. The Laramie interior is quite nice, and a relatively inexpensive addition of a JL Audio subwoofer stealth box makes the Infinity sound system sing for those long hauls!
Best Truck, Ever
Having put over 40K on my truck in the last year, I still love it. The 5.9L HO CTD is the strongest engine I have ever owned. Pulls a 14K lb fifth wheel like a dream. The interior is functional and comfortable. At 70K miles, I had to replace all four shocks and had to have the driveshaft joints replaced. Also, had to replace the roof marker lights as they cracked and leaked rain water into the cab. Small problems aside, I will never own another brand of truck as long as Dodge stays with Cummins!
Nice truck, after initial quality issues
I really like the truck, but it had some initial build quality problems. I recommend a 2006 model, they had the problems fixed. Initially truck had 70 MPH vibration problem, then the plastic ended intercooler blow out, and the drivers side door seal became torn. All problems were fixed by dealer under warranty with updated parts. Over 50,000 miles and still runs great, and gets decent mileage.
Lovin' it!!
I love this truck. It's my second cummins with a stick. I regularly pull a 20,000 lbs. gooseneck trailer. This thing is stock and I just put it in the top slot (6th gear) and it'll go up any hill in Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The best part is it still gets like 16.5 mpg! I can get 24.7mpg empty! Beat that Ford or Chevy! The leather is awesome, everything in the cab is roomy and accessible. Definite best buy, I'd recommend to anyone. The duals really don't hinder off-road ability as long as you have some All Terrain tires. I can go through just as much as any of my huntin' buddies with it. The limited slip rear end helps. I am a diesel mechanic and love how easy it's to work on.
At the Ten-Grand Mark
My 2005 Ram 3500 Quad Cab dually 4x4 has been nothing short of terrific. The Cummins diesel has more than enough power and torque for everything I need to do, and the 48RE automatic is more willing to downshift. Inside, the premium cloth is very comfortable. The rear seat is sufficient for kids and child seats, and is adequate for adults on short trips. Exterior fit and finish is excellent. The paint (Patriot Blue Pearl) has even coverage, even inside the bed. The sheetmetal cut lines are straight, the doors open and close easily, and all components are tightly mounted. So after 10,000 miles, I have been very satisfied with this truck, and look forward to the next 6-7 years!
Interior could use some work
My previous truck was an 07 Chevy Avalanche Z71 so the bar for comfort and nice ride has been set to a level that not many trucks will achieve. On the other hand, comparing the ride of a 1 ton work truck to a 1/2 ton luxury truck isn't exactly fair. The Dodge does a good job but does fall short in interior comfort. The dashboard controls aren't laid out with ease of use in mind. The gauge cluster is small and crowded and the steering wheel is so small it looks like they took it out of a small sedan.
Nice truck.....but
Overall, not a bad truck, but not the greatest. It's got tons of power, and has really good fuel mileage at the same time(22 mpg). The interior is ok, except for that cheap plastic look. Its a rough ride though, but its a one tonne. The odd sized tires are bad too, go for 16's again. Also, the body paneling is very thin, you look at it, its dented. I want to get a new truck because the 2004 and 2005 Rams were the worst when it comes to reliability, proved that one with this truck. It will probably be a new 2008 Dodge Ram 4500 or a GMC 3500. I hear those trucks aren't too bad.
Best truck ever owned
I have owned all (top three) full size trucks and this one by far is superior in all aspects. I could not believe my computer when it was registering 25-27 mpg especially the 3500 diesel. But when manually calculating the mileage I actually made it to 26-28mpg.!!! Then running BioDiesel it definitely improved performance and mpg. Thanks DODGE!
Dually gets the looks
Was a little hesitant of buying this large of a truck with only a 5.7 ltr. but although the new Hemi is completly Different from the old 426 this truck has not disappointed in the power department. and gets 12 miles to the gallon combined driving.
Cool Pickup Truck
This truck is Awsome. That huge HEMI engine packs a powerful engine doesn't have the best fuel economy but has an incredible preformance and power. I love driving it everywhere. It has a smooth ride and really nice suspention.
Diesel
Best Truck I ever owed and I have had Six
Good Family Truckster
CD player doesn't eject, back up lights don't work, and grab handle broke with 175 lb person lifting themselves in, but the power of the Cummins HO is good, the interior noise level is excellent for a diesel, and the mileage is good. The rear seats are cramped for full size adults, but fine for kids. The six speed manual is a little bit of a pain around town, but when towing it is really nice to know what gear you are in and when you will be shifting. The factory tires only have roughly 10-15,000 miles left on them and I only have 20,000 miles on the truck. Rotate every 5k miles, but they just seem to be cheap tires. So far moderately happy with truck. Paint is a little soft. Scratches easily
The King of Trucks
I have had my 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT Quad Cab DRW 4x4 Cummins Turbo Diesel for almost a year now and it is still the biggest baddest most powerfut truck on the road to date. It is the best truck I have ever had. Having a Cummins under the hood just makes me sleep better at night.
Awesome
Great to drive. Very powerful. Can pull anything.
I love it!
I'm a VERY hard to please consumer - this truck has pulled it off. There are a few minor things that I'm not overly happy with, but they are so petty and the good atributes so outweigh them that I can't help but love this truck. Every time I look at the front end on the new chebby I'm soooo glad I got the Dodge.
Great Truck!
This is the second Dodge Truck I've owned, the first was a 2001 3500 model. The 2001 was a good truck, reliable, etc., but was designed more like a "work truck". The 2004 is a lot different! It's the Laramie package, and it's totally tricked out. We did add chrome headache rack, wheel well covers, and cattle guard, but the interior is really luxurious with the leather and suede seats, power everything, etc. The sound system is very good, much nicer than the 2001. And performance on top of all this! We pull a 32 ft stock trailer, and the Dodge pulls it easily, and looks good doing it. So far, this has been a great truck.
My 04 dually
Best vehicle I've ever owned. Bought it new in Feb 05. Got 374k and still going strong. The 5.9 purrs, or maybe roars. Shows it getting around 21 mpg but if I put a pencil and paper to it, it's closer to 16mpg. Don't trust the computer. 2/2020 now. Still the best vehicle I've ever owned.

One Great Truck!
This is the third Dodge 3500 I have owned- and I still have them all! Two 4X4's and the new 4X2. This is still a workhorse, but very quiet. Still the strong pull that we all expect. I would not hesitate to recommend this to all!
Awesome
What can i say? Best drive train (with the standard) and the best deisel engine available in a light duty truck - people are getting over a million km with them. I love the manual transfer case and solid axles.
Farmer
Handles like a car, even though it is a crew cab longbed. Very quiet and with the 325 hp it has sportcar power.
hemi -power
it took about 10-13000 kmsfor the mpg1s to come up and it did.About 22.5-23 highway cdn.it gets looks!!put on headers and flowmaster 50 `s that sound!!also a K.N. cold air intake .Love the truck .
Turbo diesel towing power
had a chevy suburban pulling a 10,000lbs trailer and the 454 always ran hot and lacked power. Got the new dodge with the Cummins diesel and this thing is one pulling machine. up the hills at 60mph where before I wasn't sure if I would even make them with out overheating. Love my new truck. cool features and a great deal at this dealer ship no hassles and 10,000 dollars below sticker.
Bad Paint Real Bad ride w/ Trailers
After receiving my black Dodge the clear coat would not protect the paint even w/ extra care . Bought this for hauling goose neck trailers. What I got was a truck equiped with a roller coaster past life that reminds you at 35 empty and 55 loaded that it is not designed for pulling trailers. The 4x4 dully long bed has a drive line alignement problem that can not be fixed. 7,000 miles on a $43,000 trk and its the worst ever.
Great Truck
So far with about 11,000 miles, no problems, rides good, handles well. I tow a 15,000 pound 38 foot RV back and forth from New York to Florida with no problems. More than enough power and the automatic transmission works well. For a 1 ton truck it rides well, my back doen't bother me on my trips. I tried out a Ford, but the Cummings is far superior.
Great truck for the money
I traded a '02 1500 QC 4x4 on this truck and have not regretted it yet. The power of the CTD engine is unmatched to any gas engine on the market or any other diesel as far as I'm concerned. I just rolled 10K on the odometer and can't wait until this engine is broken in. Fuel economy to date is better than my gasser ever was.
Best Truck Ever
This is by far the best truck I have ever owned. I deliver RV's all over the country and drive about 180,000 miles a year. I have owned this truck for less than a year and have had no problems with it. I keep up with the regular scheduled maintenance for the truck and it keeps me running. On average while driving empty at 70 mph. I get 23 mpg. and loaded I can average 14 mpg. The only other truck that I have found that can compete with this is the Chevy Duramax. They also get good fuel mileage but is seriously lacking in torque.
awesome
Great truck if u do your mataince still can't best my 7.3 power stroke I got both truck and they are 300k plus miles good mpg
