Used 2007 Dodge Nitro Consumer Reviews
Nitro is Latin for Lemon
Bought it brand new from the dealer, and it went downhill from then on. 6 speed transmission was clunky and after a couple of years between 1st and 3rd gear it would slam into neutral while I was driving and make a loud bang. Dealers kept telling me they can't see anything wrong with it (code word, they won't fix it until the warranty is over). Engine power was lukewarm at best, and on the highway over 120km, the engine would vibrate. After 3 years, the engine leaked oil from 3 different places. Signal switch broke after 4 years. The door pull on the driver's side broke because it was made of weak plastic, I repaired it with reinforced metal to make it better and not give Chrysler anymore money. Every scheduled maintenance cost between $500-$600 twice a year with no repairs. I spend less maintaining and repairing a 20 year old BMW 7 series each year. Radio is garbage. ABS is terrible. Even though it's working, it doesn't stop you sooner. Poor quality interior. Started showing wear within a couple of years of very light use. Any interior plastic scratches from anything that brushes against it. Factory tires were poor quality and started cupping after 5 years (never took off roading). Something about this car was just bad luck. It was a magnet for boarder guards even though it's a dodge truck... I would open the rear passenger side door and the radio would suddenly turn on. Tire pressure sensors corroded within 5 years. Only reason it's not a 1 star is the 3 times I got rear ended, my car barely had a scratch and the other car's front end was smashed in. Side impact not as sturdy. Sold it for about 1/4 of what I paid for it, and it was a hard sell even with everything repaired.
