Dissapointed in Nebraska
I have had this vehicle a week short of 2 months and have 3000 miles on it. So far I have had several problems with this car. The first problem was that I was driving down the street and the car just quit. Dash startup system lights came on and it just quit. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't find any "codes" in the car showing it happened. Then a couple of weeks later the electric lock swith plate on the drivers door quit working. I am waiting for them to get one from somewhere. Now just yesterday the car quit running going down the road again. Locks popped up and it just quit. This is very annoying after paying almost 26,000 for this thing.
My "TRO"
I purchased the SLT 4x2, Black, oh what an eye catcher! The first week I took it to work I was in the parking lot during lunch every day, because my co- workers wanted to see it in and out. I even get people asking me to take them for a test ride in my SUV! It handles beautifully and my husband was so impressed on the handling of my Nitro he bought his two weeks later. I get between 22 and 27 miles per gallon (highway miles) city 19 miles per gallon). I have 4 grandchildren and I can ride all of them with comfort (no fighting). They love it! I am so glad I held out on purchasing a vehicle before the Nitro.

Worst car we've ever owned!
The car has died!! In OCT 2019 it died on the side of the road. There was a surge of power then a complete power loss. I lost all control to steer and went down into the medium and that was the last time the car was driven. The car had more defects and problems from day 1. Glad it's gone! Our mechanic said the problems with the car are things that would have ended up costing us more to fix than to buy a new car. It is now junked!! The car was bought used 4-2017, the day after we bought it the battery light came on we went to have it diagnosed and they said either battery or alternator so we replaced both to be safe. About a wk later the smell of gas was so strong we hurried home and parked it. We called the dealer and he sent us to his mechanic the mechanic could find nothing wrong with it and said maybe we over filled it and said not to force gas into the tank when the pump stops don't try to round it off to the next dollar. Ok we did it and took a drive and it happened again, this time the smell was so horrible it was coming out of the vents with the ac. We had to ride with the windows open coming through the everglades at temps in the high 90's. The mechanic still can't find anything wrong with the car. The windshield wipers won't shut off once they've been turned, so now when you want to wash the windshield you have to continue your drive with the wipers intermittently coming on. The back passengers door wouldn't open, the key faub doesn't work unless you are standing next to the door pushing the button repeatedly. I usually give up and just unlock the door manually. The faub has a new battery and is still junk. The tailgate pistons have gone 2x on the passenger side in 4 months. I called to find out if the recalls have been taken care of I was told that they were all done. Oh and the directionals don't go down all the way when pressed so it takes a few times to get it to stay down to signal a turn. I absolutely despise this car and can't wait to get rid of it, it is officially the worst car I have ever owned. It's constant fixes, defects, quirks and unreliability are to much for anyone. If we want to go away for a couple of days we have to rent a car for fear of it dying on the side of the road or the ever present possibility of it catching fire since no-one can find the horrific gas smell that fills the car. Nice family SUV
It was a great car for 10 years, but like most domestic autos, when it ticked over 100K miles, rattles and bangs began and catastrophic failures accumulated rapidly. Alternator, transmission, brake calipers, differential, seat positioner, power window motors, and asundry smaller items all within 20K miles after we hit 100K. I need to be clear that my review stars are AFTER we hit the 100K mile marker. Before that, it was a great car for the family that I would recommend highly.

This is why Chrysler went bankrupt.
I'll never buy another Dodge. It's too bad because they look pretty cool. This one did. But what a shoddy piece of crap it has turned out to be. The roofrack is peeling from the roof, the breaklights work sporadically, the brake rotors are bad, the a/c evaporator coil is dead and I'm told will take at least $1500 to fix. Let's see, what else? Oh yeah, the front passenger window finally gave up and won't roll down (at least it's stuck up and not down). The window buttons on the driver's door only work to roll down the rear windows but they can only be rolled up from their respective door buttons. And the buttons come right off. The seats are cheap and the stitching is coming loose.
