Best Car Ever!

2006 Dodge Charger RT 4dr Sedan (5.7L 8cyl 5A)

I just bought a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T, and it is hands down the best car I've ever driven. The looks are amazing and it has more than enough HP to get up and move. The interior is very comfortable and luxurious. The dash lights up like nothing I've ever seen. It's as good looking on the inside as it is on the outside. I traded in my 2005 Dodge Ram QC with the Hemi for this amazing machine and I don't regret it one bit. For all of those retro Charger critics: get with the times man, this car is sweet! If you want to make it more like a sports car, then take the resonators off the exhaust and she'll purr. Stop looking at other models, this takes the cake. Spend more money for the Hemi Charger!

Sporty Family Car

I had no trade in and was looking for a car to fit a family of 5 which included me (6'2" 260#s) and 3 growing boys along with my wife. It had to excite me but not break me. After researching and test driving this car, I was sold. I have never had more comments about a new car as I have had with this car. It's roomy like an SUV yet drives like a sports car. I wish I could have afforded the Hemi but the V6 is fine. I have noticed if I gun the car from a dead stop i get the rear wheels spinning a bit and in some snow i got a little slide but now that I am used to the car, I know what to do and what not to do. The Sirius radio is a must. The cruise control knob is a pain as is the trip knob.

I bought this car used with 40000 miles on it. I have only had one problem with it and that was replacing the inner tie rods($470), I was told that this is a very common repair for these vehicles. Overall, I love driving this car and I would recommend it to anyone. If you buy this car, expect expensive repairs. I recommend extended warenty.

In July 2005 we purchased a 2006 RT. It is the most awesome car I have ever driven. My husband is very jealous. He only gets to drive it on weekends (sometimes). This car is very reliable, no problems at all. It takes corners like nothing and gets you where you want to go in no time flat (watch for the cops) not to mention all the looks I get from people. The stereo is great. When you turn it up the side view mirrors vibrate. I feel very safe with and without kids in the car

My six year old son giggled with glee the first time I opened up the Hemi on the way home from the dealership. To say this car is fun to drive is to say a rollercoaster is pretty neat. I was really suprised, almost disappointed, with how quiet the engine was until I gunned it, and any time I step on the gas. The low growl of the Hemi then ellicits the appropriate grin. This is the first car I have bought that I have had fun driving. I'm 6'4" tall and don't have to have the seat all the way back. There is plenty of room for my whole family of 4. I can't wait for my first road trip with my son next week. Don't cheat yourself....Get the Hemi if you buy this car! I can't recommend it enough.

Be Prepaired

If you buy this car be prepaired to spend over a $1000 a year in tires. The F1 Supercars only last about 18,000 miles. At $250 apiece it gets very expensive to drive. The fuel was a surprising factor, it actually does very well if you keep your foot out of it. I get 20mpg on the highway and 17 in the city. Not bad for 425hp. Don't even bother driving it in the winter or real cold weather, you litterly wont go anywhere. Tires stink in the slightest bit of snow. Overall, I would buy this car again, but only if you can finance it for 3 years then trade it off.

This car has a smooth ride, and is very responsive to quick turns. Passing is effortless, having the power when you need it. The gas mileage great when driving sensible. I took trip from FL to IN and back, and had a great ride, very comfortable . It definitely turns heads. People stop me when getting in or out of it and want to look inside. I have had more people intrested in this vehicle than any other I have owned.

This is my very frist top performance vehicle and I love it. I have the Daytona sport package in Top Banana. You really notice her as she is traveling down the road. I am thinking about a couple of modifications. I want to change the exhaust to the cat-back magnaflows, and was thinking about changing the seatbelts to a 5 point harnass system. Overall, I could not be happier with this vehicle, and she is a joy to drive.

This car is awesome! When a buddy of mine saw my new Charger, he said that it was the best vehicle that he has seen in a long, long time. Which meant something to me considering he's always been a high-end European sports car snob. When we took it for a spin, he was actually speechless. Well, he actually uttered one word (that can't be mentioned here) The style, the power, plus the fact that I can still get two car seats and luggage in it, simply amazing. Awesome, awesome machine.

The Charger is the best car I ever owned. It has a great ride, the car is solid, and fun to drive. This is one of the best cars Chrysler made. The transmission is smooth, and the auto stick is great if you want to shift it yourself. The 3.5 has good power for a car this size, and the fuel mileage has been better then I thought it would be.

This is the car I have been waiting for almost 25 years. My 1st car was the original 1966 model (with the 381 engine). Later, I also owned a 1972. Neither car had the famous Hemi engine (most in fact did not). The Charger was always the car with attitude! A car that each owner could personalize to fit their taste. The 2006 model will do the same. Off the showroom floor it is a "head turner", and a great car to drive. The Charger has evolved as did those of us who drove our "muscle cars" in the 70's. Now we can have our family car and relive our youth at the same time. It's great to able to have your cake & eat it too!

I love this car in the summer. It is beautiful and gets tons of comments. But if you live in an area like Upstate New York do not waste the money unless you have a winter car. Even with the ESP and snow tires this car is awful in the snow. During he non-snow months this car is wonderful. I wish I didn't need to dump it but after one winter I have to get rid of it. We have a local police department that has this car and even they have said that they had to sit the car for the winter because it is too unreliable in the snow.

I feel safe puting my newborn and 7 year old in it but yet don't feel like I bought the old boring old family four door. It has the thrills of a muscle car.

Overall this car is great. Great looks, great power and great fun to drive. I have had numerous people approach me at the gas station to look at the car. While some purists may not like the fact that it is a 4-door sedan, I can say that without that feature I would not have been able to justify buying it. This configuration is much more practical and I think it does not detract from the muscle car image of the car. It is nice to have the good looks comfort, and power in a 4-door car.

I love my Charger

I think it's a great car. Although this modern Hemi is nothing compared to the original (I've had a 440 Cuda that would outright kill it), the modern Hemi still seems like a great motor, just don't ever think you have a chance against the 440's and 426 Hemi's of old. My Charger has the Goodyear RSA tires, which I hear are better than the Continentals, but I'm very disappointed with the tires. They don't grip well, especially in winter. And P225 (that's 225mm wide) tires are too narrow on a car of this size. Upgrade, I'm telling you. I think the steering could be improved, and as someone else said, the cupholders. There's nothing else on the market as fast and practical.

I love the design and the way the car drives! You can tell the vehicle has European influence. There was a time not to long ago that I wouldn't have considered a Chrysler product! Things are truly different now! I just completed a road trip of 4000 miles. The car averaged between 28-30 mpg. The trunk was loaded with luggage of 4 people who made the trip. I love the car and always look forward to driving! Everywhere I go, people point, and look at the car! Chrysler/Dodge/Mercedes, have done a great job !

I got my Dodge Charger R/T with the road and track performance package on May 12th. This car puts an ear to ear grin on my face. The ride is fantastic. It handles like a charm. The acceleration is outstanding. I also like the fact that you get a lot of space if you have a family and you get a fun car with 350 hp V8 with multi displacement (a plus for fuel economy especially now with gas prices at $3 a gallon) all in one car that is a pleasure to own and drive.

Well folks I've got to tell you my experience with my car as been very nice. The car power is great. The hemi gets down when I need it to and and floats when I need it to conserve on fuel. So far my wife and I love owning the car. I brought it for me but I can't seem to get my wife from behind the wheel. She loves it so I guess Dad gets to drive it the weekends. So far I have had no issues with maintenance. My wife says she's been getting a looks of looks as she drives the car. It's adorable.

Got the car almost a year ago. Now it has 55k miles. Paid $13k. Gas mileage is about 300 miles to the tank. Put 20's on it and it looks great. Love the exterior look. Got pinstrip down the doors to the trunk, didn't like it at first but it breaks up lines and it looks great. I knew the interior wasn't anything super. I like the White gauges. Will need to replace the power steering hose soon it is slightly leaking. Oh and tint all 5 Windows

What can I say, this car is exceptional because it is what it is. That being an American name plate car that eats the imports for lunch and dinner. In these times of too many Camrys and too many Accords, this is what's needed. Yes it's reliable, yes it's fast, yes it's comfortable, and it doesn't look like it came out of a cookie cutter mold. The car gets stares and a lot of questions asked about it. And I tell everybody who asks that this is the best car I've ever owned. It always seems that old stereotypes about "bad" American cars keeps the public buying wishy washy foreign cars. I just say, bring em on!

I love this car. I have driven a minivan for the past ten years and did not even consider buying a car until I drove the Charger at the urging of my favorite sales man who got tired of me test driving every other SUV/minivan he had in stock. I did not think a car would have enough room for me after being used to driving the minivan. But the Charger has a huge trunk for all the junk I carry with me. It looks awesome and drives like a dream. The power is unbelievable. I can actually pass other vehicles now! I know that things are not supposed to make you happy but my Charger makes me very happy every time I drive it. I don't think I will ever get tired of driving it.

My husband got this car, and coming from a Mopar family, I was impressed he wanted it. I am all for having a second Hemi in the family (my father has a 69 Hemi Roadrunner), but the interior and exterior of this car is just another boring family sedan. This car seems to impress people who know they should be impressed by a Hemi, but don't really know why they should be impressed by a Hemi. True Hemi fans, will want to stick with the original muscle cars that were built to haul the mail - not a haul a family.

Country roads, interstates, it doesn't matter.  Tire have to be replaced about every 25000 miles and the gas mileage isn't the greatest but you don't buy a car like this for those reasons. You even get a free SRT8 Track Experience class when you buy one.

I love the fact I get 25-26 mpg with combined highway and city driving. The Hemi engine has alot of pep for a 4,000 lb vehicle, but am addicted to power so more would be better. Aftermarket upgrades for the engine are plentiful so hp upgrades are relatively easy. Smooth ride, with lots of features and the sound system is flat out great for a stock system.

This is a fun car. It reminds me of the 1968 Charger I drove in my 20's. I love the way it sounds and the way it handles and manuvers. I feel like a kid in the candy store. It is really a comfortable car. I put the spoiler on the back and chrome wheels. I get so many compliments on this car. I got the gun metal gray one. I was hoping it would have come in burgundy. My 68 was that color. I think if you keep creating cars with style instead of some companys making cookie cutter cars you will ahead of the game. I think the muscle car era was great, you could just look at the vehicle and know right away what it was. They had distinction not like many of the cars today.

I have averaged 22 MPG in local driving since I have not been on any trips with it yet. I imagine I would get at least 25MPG on a trip. Everywhere I have been with it, I get all positive comments about the looks of the car.

I went to the dealer to look at the 300C, but I was blown away by the new Charger. One test drive was all I needed to know that this is the car for me. I've had Mustangs in the past, but I was not impressed, nor do I think that the new Mustangs provide everything that the new Chargers do. I don't mind if the Charger is a couple of heartbeats slower than the Mustang - I'm willing to give that up for the ability to seat four comfortably & put a week's worth of groceries in the trunk. The new Charger rocks, plain & simple!

If I can keep her at 55mph, I can actually pull 30 miles to the gallon. And still have the Hemi horsepower in an instant. And it definitely stands out in a crowd. This car gets a lot of looks

The Edmunds reviews paint a good picture of the car and options, so I'll focus on the driver's experience: This is a large car --plenty of room on the inside that performs like a nimble sedan. I traded a 2001 BMW 330xi for this car and I am very pleased with the choice. The Charger is much more powerful, and it handles better! I can take familar curves at higher speeds and haven't yet reached the performance limit of this car! Everything is the way it should be.

Great value; still things to be desired

The 5.7 liter, hemi V8, 2006 Dodge Charger is well worth the asking price. Hands down, it is a great value. There is certainly no lack for power here, as the 340 horsepower hemi definetly packs a punch. In addition, the sleek and stylish design make this sedan the sexiest on the market. That being said, there is still more to be desired from the new Charger. For one, the steering is very responsive and overly light and sensitive. In addition, there is very little visibility in the new Charger. Overall, this car is great for the asking price, as the positive features out weight the negative by far. I love this new vehicle and have no regrets.

This is my 2nd Dodge. I do not have the Hemi, and I feel there is no need to really have it. I wish it had the radio and other controls on the steering wheel like my Monte. I use the manual shift at times when I need that extra power in tight places. Great on gas for the power it has. My favorite color is the Black. I have had one problem with the car, and I have had it into the Dodge Dealer 2x's and they still don't have it fixed. The right side rear window motor keeps going bad and now that it is out the service agreement I'm not really sure who to trust in fixing the problem. I wish it came with a sunroof also. Great looking car for it being a 4 door, I never thought I would buy one.

Best Car I have ever owned!

The size, the power, the styling, and that scowl of the front end hooked me from the start. I have always owned Japanese cars and was reluctant to try Dodge particularly in the first model year. But now I am glad I did. This car kicks, turns heads and is fast, responsive, comfortable and quiet. Rides like a Mercedes. I have silver with 20" chrome wheels and Goodyear RSA Z rated performance tires, a real head turner! I have had no problems at all so I am surprised at some of the reviews where people have. This car shines like a diamond in a sea of what seems to be a lot of ugly drab cars today.

Love the Car but....

I will say I love the speed and the people in the rear view mirror. However there are some things that I am very upset with. A new car after $12,000 miles of use should not already need new rotors. I had to fight the dealership to get this warrantied. At the same time I was having radio issues as well as passenger's power window would not roll down. Then came the navagation system, then a transmission leak. All in all it took 1 yr and 3 separate car dealerships to work out the rotor issue (two times), radio/nav. system, transmission leak, power lock. I think finally all the bugs have been worked out. Just hope the car holds up for the years we have to pay for it.

I have a 2006 Charger Daytona, It is the most exciting car I've ever owned. This car will do anything you ask of it and leave pleanty on the table. As for gas mileage I get 17mpg in town, 27mpg highway. And this is the 7.5 hemi. To get this much car in any other brand you would have to buy a Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes. This Charger layes out a challenge that is very dificult for other automakers to meet.

The Charger RT is a fun car, has room for the family, and has good power, but is not a muscle car. 340 hp or even 350 hp with the Pereformance package is not enough to really push around 4000 lbs. For individuals who want real muscle, only the 425 hp SRT8 will do.
