Diesel Suburban - Best SUV Yet!
We purchased a 2022 Diesel Suburban; it's been everything we expected and more. Very roomy, comfortable, yet handles more like a mid-sized SUV instead of the large BEAST it is. Diesel is the way to go too; great mileage, we're getting around 22 - 25 in mixed town driving, and closer to 30 on the freeway at about 75MPH. I expect it to get better as we get more miles on it and when summer blended diesel fuel is available, still winter here in Michigan and the "winter blend" is still being sold a the pump; slightly less BTU's in the winder blend to keep it from gelling in cold weather. An absolutely outstanding vehicle with nicer performance, comfort, power and amazing fuel economy. NOTE: Diesel was not an option in the selection, but this one is the 3.0 Straight 6 Diesel.

Nervous….. But thrilled.
I’ll be honest. We’re a Honda family. For years & years we have purchased nothing but Honda for the reliability, comfort & fuel economy. However, we now possess the need to tow, and Honda didn’t have a viable V8 option. After extensive research on large 3 row SUVs. We decided on the Suburban. For the 75k price tag, I admit, it could have more to set itself apart from the competition…. I mean, no LED brake lights?? Come on Chevy. With this being said, this SUV is awesome, we just turned over 18,000 miles, and I am blown away. Fit & finish is spectacular, and they really had a family in mind when crafting these SUVs. Driving it is pure fun, the roar of the engine along with its cloud like maneuverability are incredible. I will also add, the Bose audio surround sound is mesmerizing, far & away the best speaker system I’ve ever had. Why am I nervous? Reliability - reliability - reliability. After reading about others experiences with their 2021 model year Suburbans I am terrified. I do have the 100k mile bumper to bumper extended warranty. But lifter failures, leaks, suspension issues all appear to plague the 21’ - I am just hoping we got the good of the bunch, and they worked out issues for 22. We will have to see I guess. 9.5/10 EXCELLENT SUV for those who need a family hauler, as well as a tow machine, and want to do it with class. UPDATE: The only repair we have had is our windshield wiper motors went out @15,000 miles. Other than that it has been an incredibly solid SUV!

Get the diesel!
Just took delivery of our 2022 Suburban RST 4WD with the 3.0L Duramax diesel (Edmunds didn’t show option to select this engine for my review). New for this year is a 12” digital instrument cluster which can be customized many different ways. We love the sheer size and roominess of this vehicle. Have only put a couple hundred miles on it so far but already average 26 MPG highway. For a vehicle this size the diesel is a no-brainer and it comes with the same torque as the 6.2L gas V8.

Diesel Burban, I love it, but...
I do want to love this Suburban. We bought the 3.0 baby Duramax. Sadly the thing is possessed. The dealership has no idea what's wrong. So $80K later, I'm never quite sure what will work and what won't each time I drive it. Heated seats just turn on high, and you can't turn them off. Infotainment system doesn't work about every 3rd time you get in it. The driver's mirror randomly rotates down (option for reverse that I have turned off). Dash goes black, another random occurrence thing. Front braking sensor goes off at nothing. Side mirror sensors also go off at nothing. Hard shift into 3rd gear, also randomly. Now we just disconnect the battery when more than 3 random oddities happen consistently. Seems to last about 5-6000 miles. Sadly thinking I may have to trade it, since GM has no idea why it's happening or what to do about it.

Nothing but issues
I bought my 20023 Chevy Suburban with only 4 miles on it. I drive it from the dealership 24 miles close to my house and stopped running on me, just shut off and would not start back up. I had to have to it towed, mind you it only had 28 miles on it. Come to find out that the battery was shot and I needed to get a new one already. Then all the censers started to go off for no reason. Called the dealership and they said it needed a system update. Did the update but the problem was still happening. My radio wouldn’t come on at all. I called Chevy and they said it needed a new head unit, I took it in but they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Now when I try to use my wiper fluid the motor is broken and will not work even with the fluid full. In my honest opinion I wouldn’t spend the $65K on the Suburban. Not worth the money or the hassle with the [non-permissible content removed].

OTA Updates & Black Infotainment Screen
Twice now we have been stranded by our 2022 Suburban. The first time was because of a OTA update. We left the vehicle out of the garage to maintain a signal but the next morning the battery was drained and update was not able to complete. Two days ago my wife started the car to go to work and the infotainment screen was black. That afternoon the LoJack app notified me that the battery was draining. My wife drove it home and the infotainment screen was still black. This morning the car would not start again. We have not had this car a year- my 2005 Accord with 300,000 miles is more reliable than this heap of junk. One more OTA/software problem and we will be utilizing Virginia's Lemon Law Act. Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy a Chevrolet Suburban.

Beautiful but so many problems
I have had my 2022 z71 Suburban for 3 months now. My surround view and back up camera system has worked for a total of about 1 week during the time frame. GM and dealership has known about the issue since I purchased, no end in sight. Also had a recall already that was taken care of. Paint is chipping on front tow hook. Love the look, but beyond frustrated with issues after spending $74K.
Picked up a house on wheels...
2023 suburban ls with 5.3 v8, 4wd, 20 inch wheels, ash metallic with dark interior. Paid $61-62k MSRP. Other dealers had incoming or were charging $10k over MSRP. Apr was 4.09 at 60 months opr 4.29 at 72 months. Traded in a base '18 Ford explorer XLT with 55k miles. Wife and I have 3 children and a couple of dogs. Thought we could use the space. Drives like a big truck, aka Silverado. Cross shopped new Expedition and expedition max countless times. Felt like trying out General Motors product since we came from a Ford, plus we see so many new Tahoes, Yukons, and Escalades on the road... So was thinking we can't go wrong. 5.3 v8 is the more commonly available engine. Don't like the fact that this 5.3 is not manufactured in the USA like the 6.2 v8. Would love to have the 18 inch wheels even though the 20s look better on this big vehicle. So far, 75 miles on the vehicle and tank is just under the full mark. Hoping for 20 average. Will take a road trip to Houston here shortly, so we will get to test it out some more. Kids love the space and appreciate it the most. Hoping to maximize on usage of vehicle as children grow older. We have three daughters - a 13 year old, 10 year old, and a 4 year old. We have a couple of dogs as well. High country loaded version was just under 90k on showroom floor. Went for the LS at about 25-30k less. Wife is happy. Size and parking the vehicle will take some getting used to, especially as it sticks out quite a bit from the rear end compared to it's smaller Tahoe sibling. Thanks for reading. I love reading everyone's reviews here. *Edit: Wish the Suburban had more standard safety features like Blindspot monitoring and power rear trunk opening and more.

in one year time the AC had issues 3 times and they had parts on backorder for months, they kept the suburban as it was torn apart to fix

Worst!
Critical system broke at 200 miles. It broke again at 1,000 miles. I’m four months since delivery and a month since I’ve seen the car (they can’t find a part to replace it) and still don’t have it. Worst buying experience ever. Avoid GM at all costs. GM corporate is no help. Not the dealerships fault, it’s a GM manufacturing issue. Get the smaller Sequoia and save yourself my $78,000 fully loaded mistake.

Not safe!
Start problems constantly with start stop mode and cannot not Change default so you have to reset it Every time you drive it. We have stalled out on multiple occasions because of this of this function. It's a huge problem especially in heavy traffic. Also the biggest problem is that it will lock you out and the fob and keys will be inside! We have had this happen 3 times where we left the vehicle while it was running to pump gas with the dog in the car and it locked us out! We had to call 911 to get them to open it. Glad we were not in a high crime area at the time.... Not safe!
High Country SUV
This was a great SUV, plenty of room, however Bluetooth was a problem from day one and the dealer attempted 3x to fix it and they never did, and then the Car Play started locking up, so I traded it.

Worst ever in past 10 years
I use to buy (3) suburbans and all were good… last one I bought was in 2014. Today is another store… but I will blame the CEO of GM. She has created junk and destroyed a great company that made great products. In todays world she needs to be cancelled and the brand Chevy Needs good engineers to rebuild what it once was.

Luxury Car
There’s a reason this car is expensive. The 2023 is amazing with its updates. The 360 camera is awesome. I could be more in awe because I drove my 2014 Honda Odyssey for almost 9 years. But overall, very impressed with all the features I got in my LT 4dr.

Comfortable Large Workhorse
Very comfortable ride and very responsive handling with lots of storage. This vehicle has exceeded my expectations and the Team at Edwards 280 deserves accolades for ensuring the vehicle was first class in every way.
Engine goes bad within less than a year
Do not trust these new Chevrolet. I bought a 2023 , don’t have a year and it’s in shop because engine is bad. Was told engineers aren’t perfect so problems will arise. A recall is about to be made on new problems. October 26,2023

Very Nice
Drove this rental car for 2600 miles on family trip from Indy to DFW area. It was mostly similar to a Ford Expedition I drove earlier, being an ideal family bus with style. Highs: Love the interior quality, digital instrument panel can be customized to show what you want and looks nice in general, got a decent 19.3 MPG overall on mostly 75 MPH highway driving. Lows: At least on my example, had to press the brake pedal quite hard to make even moderate stops. Selecting Sport vs. Normal made no perceptible difference in any way. Mine probably did not have heated side mirrors, at least not that I could tell. Overall, seems to be on par with Ford Expedition.

So glad to be back in the 'burb
This is my sixth Suburban/Yukon XL over the last 18 years and I love it. Just traded in my GMC Sierra and am so glad to be done with a pickup. The amount of cargo I can fit and keep secure/dry is so much better-4x8 drywall/plywood, 10 ft conduit or boards, etc all fit with tailgate closed. no more loss of back up camera and stuff hanging out the back during home depot trips New tech with phone integration, bird's eye view for parking etc are awesome. Only negatives vs my Yukon XL from a few years ago is loss of the moving center dash screen with hidden compartment behind it and deletion of overhead sunglass holder compartment. Also, I hate the dash buttons for drive/reverse/park. the stick on the steering column was a much better way to shift. Unfortunately this seems to be an industry trend Rear cargo area hidden storage is great- fits a full size 12 gauge and full length AR-15 with room to spare for lights, tools, gloves and other back up gear. Best recommended accessory: cheap phone mount that goes over center ET display-$16 on amazon. no more pro fit or other expensive mounts that require prying off dash panels and screws to have a professional looking and secure phone mount.

How has this design passed after so many years
Im 59 and I have driven every make and model of SUV. Tahoe, YukonXL, Porsche, Durango, Explorer, 2 different Mercedes, along with trucks 1500-4500 and a Freightliner Sport….this ain’t my first rodeo. Bought a brand new Suburban last month. I wash it every Friday. Every week the amount of leaves that build up are ridiculous. I open the back and leaves are caught all around the pneumatic lifts, in the weather stripping, around the windows.etc…inside the driver doors they are caught in the front of the doors, where the door hinges are and there us some sort if flap in there that you can’t get behind. Suburbans have been around for as many years as I can remember and this us the best design in 2024? Its crazy to me!

Black beauty

Duramax Preimer Engine Blew
We loved this car until the engine blew at 30,000 miles right around the year mark while I was just outside of Barstow and struggled to get an Uber and a tow truck for over an hour to want to come get me. I had 3 kids with me by myself a young mom. A trans axel oil bracket broke a then a week later the metal ring broke both causing the car to leak oil. These were at 50,000 miles and two years old. The screen blacks out randomly, the auto stop start sometimes stalls and I have to turn my car off at the intersection and restart it. Very unreliable car, I hope it’s just the diesel because I want to love the suburban because I need a car this size but it’s given us nothing but anxiety, stress and frustration!

2023 Z71 Suburban
Great look, but very unreliable. Started having issues about 20,000 miles. Now I'm at 27k miles and it has completely broke down on me. started with deep engine knocking. Ended with high pitch chattering before it just stopped.

Wont Start; unlreliable!
Less than 500 miles and the fancy pants master board strangely, and routinely, drains the battery so that the vehicle will not start the next day. Don't know what to say and the dealership is calling in the 'higher ups' 🥴
