I was actually looking to buy a Suburban but then I test drove the 2015 Silverado and was hooked! My wife and I both loved the ride and the handling immediately and there was no going back! The gas mileage turned out to be better than our car which was a bonus on the road trips we love to take! This 4WD Crew Cab is great for the family and my work! We all love it!

Completely satisfied with my purchase. Got a LT w convenience pkg and a texas edition-like pkg dont remember the exact pkg title. Excellent value - got employee discount and end of year pricing on a service loaner, 31.5 out the door. It's green too - no black or silver for me. Engine is ridiculously powerful and responsive, brakes are excellent, seat comfort - a big one for me - very good. My new teenage driver always wants to drive this instead of his allotted car. Nav stinks - need to go thru onstar for directions so i use the phone instead. Lots of charging ports and usb slots, also have a 110v plug in mine to run a laptop. It does give feedback from the road, a lot of that I attribute to the large tires. It is a truck though, so that's to be expected. Front seats are great, very comfortable. Excellent visibility and drives smaller than it is. wife wants to take it all the time also. No complaints so far, wish i had a boat or something so i could haul it around. It is loaded up now for a dump run in the morning. I expect to have this one for a long long time.

Manifold bolts broke twice

First time bolts broke we had only 20,000 miles on the truck. Dealer said they fixed. Now 100,000 and 2 bolts are broke and this will cost thousands of dollars to fix. We also had to pay $1,000 to replace the AC which is a common problem with this model. We will not buy another. Trade in time.

Currently have 65,000 miles (mostly highway) on my 2015 LT Z71 double cab. Never had a single issue. Change my oil every 5k miles. Did my routine 50k maintenance (change tranny fluid and transfer case fluid). Doing my 100k maintenence before you know it (spark plugs, brake fluid, differential fluid, struts...maybe). Never ever ever gave me a problem. I take care of her like she’s my baby girl. I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. Btw, still have original factory Wrangler SR-A tires on it. Planning on getting new tires after the NY winter. Undercarraige of the truck starting to show signs on early rust (to be expected, its mexican steel). Might spray it up with underbody paint at some point. Original brake pads and rotors (still in good shape). Original battery. Just a wonderful all around truck. Knock on wood, so far so good. I hear a lot of coimplaint about vibration. Mine rides silky smooth. Maybe i got lucky idk. Would recomend this truck to anyone looking for a reliable ride.

Look it's a great truck. I've taken curves on 4 lanes with sport sedans side by side just for the fun of it. It really holds the road. The ride is exceptionally smooth and there isn't a rattle or air whistle to be heard. I love it. My only complaints are the headlights and the nav system. Straight ahead the headlights are fine, but there is nearly nothing on either side. I need just a little bit off light when pulling out of driveway and turning onto a street. Maybe there's a deep ditch I could put the rear wheels into so I shouldn't turn too sharp or worse a person walking down a side walk I should yield to. A little light would be nice in those situations. The Navigation will get you there, but it's really annoying and it would be nice to change the voice.

Lifter failure

Carl Hines, 02/14/2019

Overall I have been somewhat satisfied with the 2015 truck with the 5.3 engine. The lifters ,however, failed at 56,900 miles. The dealer replaced the lifters and my warranty covered it. I've been told since, by other chevy owners, that this has been an ongoing problem from 2007 to now. The lifter failure ,I'm told, is due to oil pressure problems related to the AFM. Regardless of the cause, I do not trust in the reliability of this engine any longer. This should not be happening to any engine at 56,900 miles. How long before it happens again? I'll be getting rid of this POS soon! And I won't be buying another chevy!

I love this truck, very slick inside and out, smooth handling and a real comfortable ride. Motor is strong and quite but it likes its gas, that's one option I'm going to have get used too, the 5.3-V8 you need to watch the needle{that's my only issue} other wise this truck is loaded, comfortable and fun to drive, still learning all the bells and whistles.

Well, I’ve had the truck in for the brake booster recall but it didn’t change anything so the brake pedal goes to the floor when I brake. The truck also has some electrical gremlins like “service stabilitrac” and “service driver warning systems” that will turn on and off at random. The paint at the bottom of the truck is chipping off. And at random the truck will get sluggish for a few drives then all of a sudden get better. The truck has a random rough cold start code witch I’ve heard is common. And like many other mine suffers from the “Chevy shakes”

1500 LT 5.3. Purchased used 50k miles in 2019, excellent service records one owner. Transmission turned into applesauce at 80k miles - the truck is a pavement princess, I do not tow with it. Doing research and speaking with local mechanics revealed this is a common problem. Beyond this, I’ve had to replace a spark plug wire, coolant hose, suspension components, and some other odds and ends. Wheel bearings are $600 a piece - both went at 100k miles. MPG is expectedly terrible - I average 12-17. I put $50 in gas in this thing every week and I work from home.. truck is bone stock and well maintained. It’s been very expensive for me to own and I would not recommend it to anyone honestly.

I bought a 2015 4X4 Silverado new. I had two previous Silverado's and loved them. However the 2015 required all new brakes at 27,000 miles. They said it was a maintenance problem. However at 54,000 the same thing happened. GM would do nothing about it. It has 82,000 on it now and it went into the dealer with problems. It was not running or shifting right. I was told the 6th cylinder push rod was the problem and that all 8 cylinders should be replaced---$7,000! In addition the transmission needed to be replaced, another $6,000. Added to all that the passenger side rocker panel under the door had rusted through and there was rust on the left rear fender above the wheel .Another $1,500 to repair. This is a piece of junk and the last one I will own! The dealer offered me $1,000 for it!

Do Not Buy!!!! Some Silverado’s suffer from a vibration that according to GM is a Characteristic if the truck!! and engineers at GM can’t find a fix or reason why.. My 2015 only has 26000 mls on it vibrates when accelerating.. GM says factory warranty won’t cover because they can’t find out why it vibrates.. No longer a GM guy

No A/C controls in rear compartment, persons in front freeze in order to cool rear compartment. Seat A/C discharges hot air in backseat area, worthless.Remote start is a nightmare, it works but has intermittent problems. Factory has long laundry lists of things that can interfere with it. Chevrolet says to repair or replace it, it must malfunction while at the dealership. Odds of this are about the same as getting a 6" snow storm in South Florida in July. Have 20" Wrangler tires on it, no traction on wet road. It has a cycling noise which can be heard from passenger side of truck with window down. Dealer unable to locate source. Transmission shifts rough compared to older models but I'm told that is the nature of the 6 speed. Highway mileage 17.8 on recent trip. MSRP was over $55,000. Due to electronic problems and poor engineering and the fact of no support from GM, I will not buy another Chevrolet.

I was a reluctant Chevy buyer, always had Dodge trucks and loved them. Fifteen years in Dodge trucks and 5 years in a Ford truck lead eventually to a 2010 Dodge Journey which was too small, mechanically challenged and was totaled in an accident in 2015. I decided it was time to get back into a truck. I wanted to be up higher and surrounded by a heavy vehicle for safety. I looked at the Ram, Ford and Chevy. I thought the Chevy and Dodge were very similar with the ride comfort going to the Dodge. I test drove a Chevrolet 1500 three times and each time I felt the ride comfort was something I may or may not get used to. After more research and talking to some friends who were Chevy owners and mechanics I decided it was the Chevy I would buy. Now almost two years later I am pleasantly surprised by the fuel mileage, comfort and drivability of the truck. It is extremely smooth riding with a shudder every now and then when it shifts from 8 cylinder to 4 cylinder, but nothing like the reports of some of heavy vibration. The only negatives with this truck are acceleration from a stop; very slow to upshift and seems to take a while to get up to highway speed and they are a bit noisy with the windows open. The interior and especially the electronics are very good. The fit and finish is nice and doesn't give the impression of being too plastic which the Dodge did. All in all with 35000 miles on the ruck it seems to be a good investment and my 10 year old son already wants this to be his first vehicle. If it remains reliable he may have to wait.......................................lol!

I worked for Chevy at the time and got a good deal on a lease. I have always loved GM products after owning their other trucks and large suv's. However this is by far the worst GM product I have ever owned. Shortly after owning it there was always a vibration at highway speeds and around 40mph. The dealer said yes it is doing it and rebalanced the tires said it should be good now. Left the lot still doing it. Now after having it for two years the vibration is still there with a pulse that rattles the change in the dash. GM doesn't know what the problem is said they can rebalance the tires (no thanks) didn't work the first time. It is starting to shift weird and has uneven acceleration. There are two spots on the truck bed above the wheel well on each side that look almost like a screw is going to poke through. The paint has started to chip on the tail gate and hood (only has 22k well taken care of miles. To top it all off I have noticed there is a massive leak on the driver side floor board. I pulled up the carpet and you could just ring out the water. Taking it to the dealer this week to see what they say. I am so glad I leased this truck. It is the best looking truck on the market with a lot of great features but this is the BIGGEST PIECE OF CRAP I have ever owned. It drives horrible and is so uncomfortable I feel bad for its next owner and I cannot wait to give it back to GM. I will stick to KIA's and TOYOTA'S that have never given me a problem. Hopefully GM will get it right eventually.

In addition to my last post I bought a 2001 Dodge and it runs better than the 2015 chev Its got a recall on the driver seatbelt. It leeks water in the cab. Seats don't go back far enough. The trailer lights were wired wrong so it would blow fuse after fuse. I start it some times and it dies right away. Not able to connect phone to Bluetooth while moving. its cheaply made! My hande just pulled off. Dealer in Princeton mn are cheap . Didnt throw in any free stuff. There where candy wrappers when i bought it "new". Just a American made pill of crap .

I've owned about every type of vehicle you can imagine, but for the first time people are noticing what I am driving. 2015 White Diamond 1500 Silverado High Country, with dark brown interior. Owned Fords, F250 Lariat, own Jeep Commander, but not a Chrysler truck ( safety rating is too poor). But this truck has everything I want, great fuel milage (23 highway last 50 mile trip), looks that people can't keep from saying things about, the ride is superb, and the interior is the best ever. Dark brown leather, with just enough stitching so you don't get lost in the rodeo. When I go through the drive throughs I almost always get a wow, or a ooh from the folks working the window. The outside is awesome looking, the right amount of ruggedness, with the right amount of class. The wheels and rims really look great, and are jus the right amount of blingish posh. It looks smooth. I might drive this truck for the next 20 years, that's how much I like it. Latest update: April 5 2016, I have put more miles on my truck than I would want, but I just enjoy driving it, intact instead of flying to florida we drove. It only take three tanks of gas to get there, so just a little more than 100 dollars got three people safely to Clearwater from central Illinois. It still drives as nice as any car I've owned. Thing is people that don't know me tell me how good it looks from every age category. It's undeniably good looking. It makes me not want to treat it like a truck. This summer I will be doing a lot of camping, as I am retired now and working on a new camp site up north. I will be taking my ten year old white lab with me, he likes the truck because the back seat folds down and its easy from him to get in and out of.

I went to my local Chevy dealer here in my town because I was considering the purchase of of a new Chevy truck. For years, I have been the owner of a Chevrolet Avalanche. I initially went to look at purchasing the Silverado 1500, and decided to look at the upscale model High Country. I was first disappointed that Chevrolet discontinued the Avalanche model. One of the benefits of the Avalanche that I immediately noticed that had been changed was the air conditioner vents in the rear cabin of the truck. The new Chev Model trucks DO NOT have Air Conditioning vents in the rear cabin of their vehicles. This may not seemed like a big deal to some, but here in Northwest Florida there are extreme Hot temps and even worst with the humidity and heat index. On yesterday, 07/18/2015 the heat index was approximately 106 degrees. Imagine preparing for a trip across town to the market with your 1yr old grandchild in a car seat in the rear of this heat box.... Basically, any rear seat passengers would have to hope to secure a front seat position before anyone else could. I didn't even bother taking this truck for a test drive as I knew the AC factor was a deal breaker for me. When compared to the Ford F-150 Platinum, the Ford has many more enjoyable features such as retractable foot boards which deploy when the doors are opened to provide easy access stepping inside the passenger compartment, and retract when the doors are closed. I took the Platinum model for a test drive, and was greatly surprised how well the truck handled. It rode like a luxury vehicle and didn't feel stiff like most trucks. The truck had heated steering wheel, heated and cooled seats for both driver & passenger. Unless your mind is made up on wanting this vehicle with no other options....I suggest looking at the Tundra or the Ford F-150 Platinum... Both the Chev. Silverado & GMC Sierra Denali both lack air condition vents / heater vents in the rear of the cabin..

No real complaints with this truck. Comfortable (I'm 6'2-6'3), spacious, has all the features I wanted. Gets anywhere from 16-24 mpg depending on drive/distance. Was looking at the 6.2L but ended up settling on 5.3L V8. It still has great pickup, and if you don't tow often... the 5.3 is better. Got a decent deal on it, 52k msrp, ~41k purchase. Midnight Edition.

Got a great deal on the lease, but the residual is to high and I will have no choice but to let it go. The buyout will cost me another $130.00 a month more than I am paying now. Being on a fixed income, this is something I can not do. But the truck its self is great. I get a lot of compliments on it. Its a LT all star package. Dose not have some of the accessories but it has the ones I wanted most. My wife hates it, but for only one reason. It sits to high and she has a problem getting in and out. I was not going to put on running boards on a leased vehicle. If I do end up somehow keeping it. I will put them on. If I am allowed to extend my lease, I will.

I feel this truck is great value.Excellent ride and plenty of power for 4.3.Had to tow uncle's car 250 mile and got 19.8 mpg while on P.A turnpike running 70-75mph.My only complaint is 2wd truck is almost as tall as 4wd,and wish could get 8sp on the LS.Love my truck works as hard as I do..Update.I now have had 16,000 trouble free miles.Only oil changes and tire rotations.Dependable as well as excellent service from G.M.No need to go to brand X Still seeing the U.S.A in my Chevrolet

One of the first things I did was to put channel steel under the front seats to raise the height. I am 5'11" and it sits too low. Now it is much better. I have gotten an average of 28 mpg over a 400 mile loop, admitted, it reads a bit optimistic, maybe a tad over 27 in reality. I drive with a light foot and usually about 52-54 as no one is paying for my fuel but me. I have run Firestone Destination Le2 tires and have gotten over 60k on them. I have had to replace the battery once. The engine has seen premium synthetic oil over it's life. It seems to like Magnatec and the Suburu rec oil that was on super sale at Adv a year or so back. Other than that, nothing notable, I just hope I haven't jinxed it Update. Installed Bilsteins a few months back. I believe the originals were still ok however. Still going strong

America’s heritage of reliability

I have had dodge dakota’s, 2012 ram, 2017 tacoma, f-250’s XLT and yet between all the competition I keep coming back to Silverado. I have had 4 so far from a 2011, 2014, 2017 and currently a 2015. While I wasn’t a fan of the 2017’s body design and all over paint from the grill to the bumper on the z71, I was nevertheless still impressed from the reliability and customer service warranty. The 2017 had issues with suspension that needed replaced right off the bat but with a brand new never been owned truck I did expect some flaws as with any right off the lot vehicle. Just the luck of a bad apple draw. The service from Chevy always easy to talk to and they get it done. So brand and model in mind above the bar outstanding. The 2015 silverado 5.3L v8 4x4 I have I love, the soft quiet ride, the handling, everything flows like heaven. Anyone debating on make and models. I highly recommend the 2014, 2015 or 2019 model. Your not missing anything special with the 2017 and 2018 model you like the body design. I’m just more of a classic edgy box look guy myself and the 2019 has gone above and beyond with exterior and interior. But some can’t afford the payments just yet. If I get the opportunity to report on the 2019 I will. Coming from me I’m very critical and I could comment on every make and model of truck I’ve driven, like the horrible paint quality of the Tacoma (pay extra for paint protection at dealership trust me) but we don’t have the time of day for that. The best year and make and model I’ve had so far.

Always a good truck, but for the price of new trucks, I damn well expect that. So instead of the good, here is the bad. 1.the heated seats are an absolute joke, they never get that warm, and when started with remote start, they are set at the factor to a setting that is an embrassment. I live in the North country, let me set my temp night before at what I like. Stereo is horrible. Mirrors on the SL model do not have turn signals. Wow, your really saving alot doing this Chevy. Its a safety thing for pete's sake, come on.

I've got a 2015 crew cab ltz 4x4, with towing mirrors. They are a hazard for me. They block a huge portion of the view when lookin left or right. Because I'm 5ft 1in I have the pedals all they way up and the steering wheel pulled out almost all the way too. So I changed that thinking it would well-made no difference. That's about my only gripe. Now those led lights in the mirrors are great, I love using them

I bought 2015 Silverado true north. Well appointed, it is now 5 1/2 yrs and 115,000 miles later, great truck. I have spent a total of $400 on it for lower ball joints. No leaks, no rattles and no issues. It rides like a Cadillac but also handles off road very well. I can't imagine buying anything else. Original brakes and rotors. I may be due for brake pads soon, but the rotors are good as new. 30,000 of these miles I have been hauling a 5000lb travel trailer, the Rockies, Coastal mts., Blue ridge parkway and Cabot trail. No problems. I will buy another, but not until zI hit 200k

Gm trucks have improved for the most part , but they're front suspension design is still weak, Be prepared to buy lower ball joints more then twice in duration of ownership. Also park assist way to over sensitive even a little ice can trigger it.

5.3 V8 runs well, no issues. Good MPG for a full size crew cab, 18-21 summer, little less in winter. Has every option available, very comfy with a lot of room. Good Bose sound system. Dislikes, cumbersome parking, backup camera screen could be better, hood is hard to see over, 20 inch tires are expensive, has a couple rattles in the back seat area.

After many, many electrical problems with my 87 chevy truck, I said I would never buy another one, at least not until I quit seeing so many with one front light out. I, for some unknown reason stopped and looked at a 2015 silverado and took a test drive. Before long I was negotiating a to trade my 2013 RAM truck. The new chevy rode, looked and drove better, was much more comfortable for long drives and just made me want to get in it, turn on the bose system and go. Thanks to cruise control, I haven't been stopped for speeding. The truck is so smooth I have looked down and noticed doing 80 to 90 without realizing it. The gas mileage is acceptable but actual mileage is less than that listed on the truck's readout....not suprising as this seems to be the norm. I have pulled a trailer, loaded the back with heavy goods and the truck behaves beautifully. This is the first of several trucks I have owned that my wife is comfortable in....we took a 600 mile trip and were both happy with the ride. My only disappointment is onstar took me on a wild goose chase through several turns in residential areas and dropped me miles from the destination I had entered saying "You are at your destination" and signed off. One negative among many positives. The best part was buying the truck from James Wood, Denton Tx. I have bought more cars and trucks than you could believe....possibly a record. That buying experience was the best ever.
