2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
I bought this car new, and it has been the most trouble free car that I have ever owned. I had to replace one sensor in the 46,000 miles that I have owned it. It is also extremely comfortable on long trips. My wife and I recently took it on a 4,600 mile, 3 week trip and as always, extremely reliable. It also had adequate trunk space. I couldn't possibly ask for a more relaible car.
I love this car!
This is my first time owning a Corvette. It's everything I thought it would be. It's fast and handles really nice. I love the feel of the road coming thru the steering wheel.

What else compares?
Commuting to and from work I get 21 MPG and 30+@ 75 MPH in 6th gear. This magnetic red car is a head turner. Cheaper than a Subaru WRX or a Mitsu Lancer and it doesnt look like a shopping cart! I put Michelin Pilot AS run-flats and the traction improved dramatically over the GY Eagles and noise dropped. For $25k this is a deal. Too bad when car mags do car comparisons they dont compare what was a $48k new Vette now worth $22-$25 to the new stuff you can buy! The Vette would win hands down. When I get rid of it, it will be for a 2008 used with 3LT auto and 436 hp. Until then I would rather have it than any other car. As a car connoisseur I highly recommend the C-5!
Nicest looking sports car on the road
I could of bought anything in the mid $20,000 range as a seasonal summer sports car. Hands down my decision to buy a 2001 Corvette convertible was dead on. Fast, sexy, North American built, cant beat it. Man I love this car, thumbs up all the time. St Catharine's built LS1, fit and finish is tops, paint is excellent, 30 mpg. You kidding me this is one great car.
2001 Z06
This is my second Corvette. It was purchased used, I'm the 2nd owner. This is an amazing car, the performance and handling are outstanding. I've added a hurst shifter Stinger air intake and B&B exhaust. Now its even more fun. The mileage is amazing as long as you can keep your foot out of it. It is a head turner, looks blazing fast just sitting.
Wonderful Car
There's no better bang for the buck. I had my C5 for two years and it lost $1000/year in depreciation. If Chevy made all their cars with the quality of this, they wouldn't be going broke. It is a sheer blast to drive, everything is precise. Steering is responsive, gas and brake are solid. The suspension is comfortable and handling is perfect. Plus, and I guess most importantly, is the fact that this car's design will never go out of style. She is sexy. On the otherhand, the car's not that practical because of the lack of room and the low clearance. Maintenance and repairs are pricey, but nothing like foreign cars. Tires are very expensive
Windy Wendy is a blast!
Bought my 2001 basehatchback in April of 2013. I have put about 11k on the clock since then all trouble free and fun miles. I did change out the flawed factory turn signal/hazard switch and put on a new set of non run flat tires to quiet it down and smooth out the ride. Other than that, just oil changes and a lot of polish. This is very capable road car and runs like a sewing machine. Everything works as from the factory and it is a huge blast to drive. I can't seem to get the current year scroll to work on this site but it is now May 2016. On a trip this week the on board mpg was showing 31.3 mpg highway with an average 29.6.

Supercar for Camry price
Waited 27 years to replace my 1964 roadster and found the perfect 2001 targa. 3rd owner, less than 14K miles and nearly totally stock. The car cost almost exactly what a new loaded Camry would have but can top 170 MPH and hit 60 in about 4.5 seconds. In addition it's rated an LEV and gets 32 MPG on the highway. The build quality is wonderful, the Bose sound system spectacular and the power is almost unlimited anywhere in the power band. Aftermarket cat-back exhaust has torque nearing 400 lbs. ft. and the car goes from quiet commuter to F22 Raptor in a heartbeat. No supercar for less than $100K could come close to matching "Gracie" - 6 years old and just getting broken in. What a deal!
2nd only to my '67
I have truly enjoyed this second go round with Corvette's. My 2001 convertable is everything in a straight line that my 427 '67 was and this baby will really hang on the corners, unlike the '67. I don't care what anyone else thinks. This is the biggest bang you can get for the bucks anywhere. Buy one or steal a drive frome someone who has one, and if you don't agree, you never drove a big block '67.
It's a trade-off
I am the 2nd owner of this car. I got it for 32,000 in 2003 with 6,000 miles on it. First, there was a factory recall. Defect in the steering column. Possibility of steering wheel locking up at any given moment. Thank God I wasn't driving when it locked up. The tow & repair was free, the headache was too! Then the ignition got stuck and the key wouldn't turn. Replaced the ignition as well as the flashers which were also not working properly.
Third Best By Far
I ordered a 2001 Corvette in August 2000. I wanted to make sure I would get exactly what I wanted so found a dealer who had several on order matching my needs. This is my third Corvette. First was a new 63 340 HP 4 sp. Black Convert. Loved it but QC not the best. next a new 80 bought new. This 2001 is the best by a long shot. Ultra reliable. Great gas mileage at10 city, 27 road. Great performance. Idles like a tame family sedan and has all the scoot I would want in a daily driver. I've kept it totally stock. Most problems include headlight gears that wore out to often. I remedied this by swithching off the automatic headlight activation and manually turning on the lights. Love this car.
After all these years!
I am sure glad my wife let me buy this car four years ago. If ever you need a little pick-me-up the Corvette Z06 will definitely do the trick. I have not had any problems with this car and love the way it handles and the power it has. You just can not get over the quickness and power this car has. I was able to by this car from the original owner with 6500 miles on it for 30k, best 30k I have ever spent. I you want to experience Ferrari like perfomance at a price almost anyone can afford than you have to drive a C% Z06.
Best performance car for the money!
For an all around sports that can just about beat anything that costs twice as much, you can't go wrong with a ZO6. It is civilized enough to drive everyday unlike a vVper and gets as many looks and compliments. I have never have had a problem. The car has 28000 miles and runs flawlessly. The only down fall is that it likes to eat up rear tires as the rear end tends to slip the rear tires quite easily when shifting into second even when driving conservitly. Truly a great car.
mine is a 6 speed manual
I bought this car three months ago used of course with a ghost in the system that effected not only the turn signals but the heater-air as well. It turned out to be a the hazard switch and cost about $466 for the local dealer to install and flush the cooling system, so not to bad. I put Michlines on it and behold the beast has come to life. It is the base convertable with 6 speed manual and its Katey bar the door when I step on it. Only 350-350 but feels like more to me. the body and paint are GREAT except for the lower air dam in front as expected has found a curb but not too bad. So far I can't say enough about this car, it is the most fun I can have with my cloths on.
2001 black on black conv corvette
Well what can I say. I'm 70 years old used to have a 69 corvette conv theres no equal to the 2001. Gobs of power and handling is tops in my opinion. Replaced one headlamp motor and a couple of relays and alls well. I just bought it from original owner with 20k mileage it well stay in my garage until I can't drive any more. And the 6sp is golden compared to the 1969 4sp. UPDATE: Well this is my second corvette. First was a 1969 conv. I've owned it since Dec 2021 bought from original owner 20k mileage.Just finished a 45oo mile road-trip AZ to WA state. It ran great no issues. It does not like rain or snow. The previous milege estimates are correct in 6th gear. Being from AZ it is a great fair weather car and keep it in garage. The only think weak are the electric headlamp motors replace gears with brass and you've solved the problem

Great Bang For The Buck
2001 Black Conv. 6 speed with Z51, 1SC, QF5, and U1S options. Pros: Great handling, acceleration and basic fun. Cons: Car burns oil at the rate of 1qt per every 2000 miles (dealer monitoring in place). Some cheap interior bits. Overall: Eye-turning, fun-to-drive excitment for a bargin basment price when compared to the competition.
GREAT CAR
AWESOME FUN , GREAT STYLE,HELL OF A LOOKER, CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I'VE HEARD "NICE CAR" AND BEST OF ALL CORVETTE OWNERS WAVE AT EACH OTHER - TRY THAT IN A TOYOTA OR MB
Silver 2001
Bought my Silver Vette last year and have enjoyed it ever since. This is my everyday driving car. 2001 Corvette Coupe. Picked it up in Dallas and drove it back. Overall the car has Power from First through Fourth gears. I don't need any more speed after that. Fun car to drive and it looks Great. Would love to step up in Corvettes; however, I will never let this one go.

Room For Improvement
I was unfortunate to receive a lemon Z06 (1Qt of oil for every 500Miles), but I have isolated my review comments to exclude this problem. Chevy eventually replaced the engine. But even with that, I still think you can buy a better car and therefore will be purchasing a 2003 in a few weeks. I really would like Chevy to take some more pride in building these cars with improvements made to the interior design, paint quality, and small details. I find it appaulling to buy a car that brand new will have rim damage because they are still using tire clamp weights. For detailers the badges are a nightmare (especially that rear Corvette inprint).
$50,000 lemon
It is the worst car I have ever owned as far as quality. At 3500 miles the oil pump went, and at 7200 miles the car caught fire while I was driving it due to a defective fuel line. After rebuilding the car, several problems with the engine and AC. Lost AC, brakes and developed significant new oil leak all within 48 hours. GM refused to acknolwdege problems, and has invited me to pursue lemon law claim. Out of 12 months I had car, 9 in the shop. Would not recommend car to anyone.(Have had 2 Corvettes in the past) Notiified NHTSA re: fire and sudden brake failure, believed to be related to boost.
2001 Coupe bad C.S. problems
I bought this car new and have had massive oil burn problems..1 qt every 1000 miles, Chevrolet cust. service is the worst in the industry they DO NOT CARE... They would not fix and do not want to replace the car. It has had the clutch assm. and shifter replaced, vibrated badly
Best Bang for the Buck
Went to the dealership to buy a key and ended up testing a Z06. What a mistake! I haven't felt this power since the muscle cars of the 60's- 70's! Needless to say I bought the car. This car brings the most smiles per mile and it compares to cars over twice it's cost in performance and appeal. Love it!
problems wth my corvette
The first two years I had the car it was nothing but problems.Check engine light coming on constantly.I tried to resolve my issue with GM but all they could offer me was oil changes, finally I contacted Better Business Bureau and within a week I was getting somewhere with the problems. This was a leased and I wanted a car that was dependable, being in the State of Nevada there is a lemon law three strikes and it's history or compromise. Finally GM settled with a five year or 60000 miles powertrain warranty. Thanks to Better Business Bureau. Will move on to European models it was fun but the aggravation it put me through wasn't worth buying another GM product.
MY Z06
This car is fantastic! Minor problem with leaking windshield when purchased, now fixed. What a car to drive. Worked on engine, now puts out 427hp with 362 coming out rear! Love this car
Corvette owner RPC
I traded a 1991 converble for my 2001 Corvette. The z06 was the fastest car that I have ever owned. However, the ride was not comfortable as expected and the rear wheels or road nose was very loud when driving on the freeway. The acceleration was amazing. The Corvette is a fun car to drive.
Great Bang 4 the Buck
For the price of a new Lancer Evo or WRX STi, you can purchase a very clean, used Z06 and smoke those 4-cylinder hairdryers all day long. The 2001 Z06 with 385hp & 385ft-lbs of torque launches from a standing start like a Trans-Am race car. Add an intake, LG long tube headers and a good exhaust to a 2001 Z06 and you'll easily match the 405hp found in 2002-2004 models. Don't be afraid to rev the engine. Unlike the older C4 and early C5 motors, the Z06 engine doesn't hit its horsepower peak until just over 6000rpm. Handling is fantastic for practically every twisty road in America. Only dedicated track drivers may find it a little soft.
Major Engine Defect in 2001 Corvettes
All 2001 Corvettes were manufactured with defective piston rings that cause the engines to use excessive amounts of oil-1 quart per 1,000 miles or less in most cases. Avoid purchase of these vehicles.
Love my '01 Corvette !!!
The ownership experience has been wonderful. I have had her since 2004. There aren't too many negative things I can say about this car. There are MSANYpositives to mention though. She is like a member of the family at this point. Runs like a dream and overall is very comfortable and has GREATcargo storage room for a sports car.

My first Vette
I've had 6 cars in 2 years. Tried the 09 370z fun fast garbage. Then a bmw335itturbo engine went in a month, next a Porsche boxster pure sports car, I loved the hidden midengine power and triptronic shift took it in for service a leak was found and 16.000 for a new trans never happen, I've always loved the Corvette and the c-5 was just a really classy design so I found one tested her and bought it. I haven't had a Chevy since 88 I've stayed with Dodge and still have my durango great quality and service, Chevy hasn't changed a bit poor service they lie and here's an example, if your mechanic don't know what 275/45/18 is and you ask the service manager the same and the answer is worse, that says it all. Run!
Throaty monster!
Absolute pleasure to drive. I test drove the 6 speed manual. red exterior red interior racing seats. I’m still smiling. The 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z-06 is an everyday driver, with lots of cargo space. Not to mention top of the line sound system.

Blast from the Vette past!
Just bought my 01 Z06 last week, 08/26/2022 I am so impressed with the way it drives. I’ve had numerous Corvettes from 74,82,84,92,07,13 and even a new 2020 C8. My Z06 rides better than any of my previous vettes except the C8. It’s fun banging through the 6 speed manual with the 385 horses from the L6 power plant. Everything still works like new on it also! Paid $24 for it and would gladly buy it again.

Used 2001 Chevy Corvette
Hi there everyone! I just bought a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette 7/16/2020 & I absolutely "LOVE" my Corvette!!! Now try not to hit any bumps & slow down over railroad tracks bcuz you will feel every single bump..but I dont care...always wanted a Corvette & now I own one!! PLEASE pinch me..lol My Corvette is royal blue & has brand new Corvette rims...it also has a removable top (t-top)... Eventually Im getting the car painted, the auto body man estimated $6,000-$7,000... I have nothing on my driving record & I called 40 some insurance companies before I found a great price for full coverage insurance at $122/a month.. Oh no now I have Corvette fever...lol I am eventually buying one more Corvette!!

2001 Corvette 6 Speed Convertible
Have had this car for almost 5 years repairs have been minimal almost always is something that wore out . handling of this car is GREAT acceleration is GREAT I am wanting to replace Stereo and Bose speakers with something bluetooth but as for as changing anything else no that will not happen. If you have a chance to own one of these magnificent machines do it. I plan on leaving it to my son and would like him to pass it along so my grandson/granddaughter can drive same car I drove. This is an amazing car

Great Car....poor service at dealership
Great Car. Only a few minor problems during the last three years. Oil changes and new tires have been the only out of pocket costs to date. Dealer Service very poor....I will never buy a Chevrolet again because of the lack of quality control whenever I took the car in to the dealer. It never improved even after multiple complaints. Everytime I took it to the dealer for an oil change I asked to have the emergency brake adjusted and not once did they accomplish that task. Too bad because it is a great car, now that the warrenty has expired, I will try to find a real mechanic or do it myself.
Best car I have ever owned.
Incredible performance, handling, appearance and bang for your buck. Over 26000 miles and car is still like new. Saw my first 2006 Red ZO6 and almost fell over. May soon be upgrading to a C6 ZO6.
Plastic pack Horse
Fun to drive Good handeling-- Most car for the buck. So much better than the old Vett's
What a blast!
Since I've wanted a corvette since I was young, you can imagine the standards this car had to uphold. Boy does it ever. Even with the automatic (this was a decision based upon my wife), this car is a blast to drive. So, far I've taken it from San Fran to Scottsdale, AZ twice and each time have been extremely comfortable, gas mileage averaged 29 (with avg. speed of nearly 80). My only complaint...the small cup holder. Otherwise, this was a great choice for the money!
Time for another!!
I'd never considered buying a Corvette until this one. Everything I'd heard about them was negative. However, after having this vehicle for two full seasons I must state that it is THE best vehicle that I've ever owned. Not the slightest problem whatsoever and the quality is impecable! I cannot wait to get a convertible for 2003 and my only hope is that it will be as good as my 2001 is.
My Little Red Corvette
This is my love. The energy from this car is extreme. I do not have to drive it over the speed limit to know what it can do. What a "rush" when you push the power. You feel it! I love to drive it on a curvy road, because it hugs the curves like no other car. When I drove it to Kansas City, I averaged 26.7 miles per gallon. The interior fits like a glove; everything is at your fingertips. Its a beautiful car. I have had it almost three years and have not had any mechanical issues with it.
Price vs performance
Best in class in value of a high performance production vehicle
2001 Torch Red Z06
I broke this car in with extreme care. In my 10 months of ownership I have never spun the tires or exceeded the speed limit by more than 5 mph, never-theless I have never owned a more enjoyable outright fun automobile. My last tank I went 333 miles and averaged 32.43 mpg. It's an economy car with 385 hp! This car is easily worth the 50 grand I paid! I feel ten years younger and my business trips are a pleasure!
My First Corvette
I have wanted a Corvette since I was 20 and now that I am almost 60 I finally got my dream. THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED....!
Best Vette I have owned
I purchaced this car new in October 2000 after waiting 5 months for the order to arrive. I have driven it a total of 17,000 miles which included 2 2,500 mile trips the first year of ownership. I have had no warrantee issues. It has been the most reliable car of any type I have owned. I can't wait until spring when I take it out of winter storage.
Using Oil
Bought the car with 3 miles on it, I ordered it Oct 2000 and took ownership in Jan 2001. I had the dealer to changed the oil and rearend fluid topped off and/or changed. The oil change was free and the rearend cost me about $100. I had 3200 miles on it. I never checked the from that point until I changed it myself at 7000 miles using Havoline syntheic formula 3. I put in the recommended 6.5 quarts. The low oil light came on at 8900 miles. I checked it and it was quart low.
Yesssss!!
This is my second C5, a 2001 roadster.. I've had it for almost three years now and it consistently makes me smile. The performance, looks, and ride are all worth the price of ownership. I have made "corrections" such as intake, full-length headers and exhaust and the car has rewarded me with improved performance. On two trips from Florida to Bowling Green Kentucky, my vette averaged better than 27MPG!
Great car for the money!
I love this car. I bought it new off the showroom floor and have put alot of highway miles on it with no problems what so ever.
Awesome Car!!!!!
The Corvette is awesome. It's a beautiful car that performs incredibly well. You can't beat it (or even come close to it) without spending at least twice as much money. Kelley Chevrolet was a pleasure to deal with (no I don't work for them; they love the car also..........and it shows in how they treat Vette owners)
big fat date mobile
this car is a blast to drive; and turns heads everywhere I go! Only wish I had more time to drive it.
zippideedodah
Drove my 2001 for a year and just got my 2003. The 01 was an oil burner, but once the General fixed that it was fine. Not too many red light challenges except from little souped up Civics, etc. The car is the best deal around for the bucks. Tons of torque, and plenty of power. If you can't drive well, don't buy it, 'cause it deserves to be driven hard, quick, and nasty.
