Till the end
I bought my 2008 Cobalt Sport in December 2015 with 64000 miles on it. It is now December 2019, and I have thrown on an extra 100000 miles. This car has driven me to work and back everyday since I bought it. It has given me very few issues, beside the obvious maintenance work(brakes, bearings, oil changes, etc.). If you just show your car some love it's going to do what it was built for. I finally both my wife a car for her, so now it's time I personalize my Cobalt. With an upgraded intake, exhaust, coilovers, wheels and tires it's going to look like a completely different beast.

My family's Cobalt
I'm the one whose dad replaced a totaled stick Prizm with a Cobalt. His hasn't had transmission problems, but CR says 08 Cobalts are prone to minor transmission problems. The only issues Colleen's (he's a car namer) had are vent valve replacement, maintenance items, like steering components (steering arms, intermediate shaft) and a broken belt and currently exhaust problems and an engine light. Something's dangling and he said it's an exhaust thing and the engine light's steady. Other than being buzzy, the car runs and drives good. She has over 145,000 miles now and is a winter rat, unless the engine light's more expensive than he wants to fix. Her sheet metal's rusty, holes in the rocker panels and a dangling brake cable due the rust holes. A few years ago, a friend of my family traded his Cobalt in and ours maybe had the same problem, bad catalytic converter. The engine light and exhaust issues seemed to indicate that, along with the mileage comparison between the cars. Our Cobalt was bought by my cousin's work partner a year ago last fall, for a demo derby car.

Amazing Car
I absolutly love my 08 Cobalt LS, I know its the cheap version, not the sport but its a very nice and fun car, especially since mine is a 5 speed manaul. Also very easy to work on and to mod.
SS turbo Quite a Car
Overall the new SS is an amazing car for the money and outperforms many cars with much higher price tags. It's really fun to drive. Finally they got it right, everything you would expect in a SS labeled car. Not for those who just want a little sporty car, you'll soon be bothered by the many clicks, clunks and less refined aspects of this performance car. Fuel mileage sold me on this car and I'm not disappointed, averaging 27mpg mixed driving. A cool feature lets you see your instant mileage approx when trying to stretch those mpg's.
DONT BUY ONE!
I bought my cobalt used about nine months ago. So far, two of the tires have blown up while driving, the brakes are already bad, two speakers have blown out, the whole computer system is shot, all the tire moniters have gone bad, my flex pipe coming from the manifold is bad(costing $925.53 just for the replacement part), all the locks in the car have stopped working, one headlight has cracked and water is all inside of it, and last but not least, the exaust system has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Half of the time my car locks up when you try to cut it on, and the key gets stuck in the ignition. There was already a recall for the power steering, but that is currently not even a problem.
