  • The bZ4X Limited also gets newly standard driver assistance features.
  • A new Nightshade edition adds style and standard all-wheel drive.

For 2025, Toyota has introduced a host of updates for its bZ4X electric SUV. Changes include new, lower pricing, a new Nightshade special edition, improved dual-voltage charging, newly standard driver aids and more.

The bZ4X is up to $6,000 cheaper

Toyota has announced that the 2025 bZ4X’s base XLE trim starts at $38,465 MSRP including $1,395 in destination charges. The range-topping Limited trim, meanwhile, now starts at $43,195 MSRP. Optional all-wheel drive can be had regardless of trim for an additional $2,080, and you can check out the year-over-year pricing changes in our list below.

  • bZ4X XLE FWD: $38,465 MSRP ($44,465 in 2024)

  • bZ4X Nightshade: $41,815 MSRP

  • bZ4X Limited FWD: $43,195 MSRP ($48,575 in 2024)

The bZ4x joins the Nightshade club

Toyota has also introduced a new Nightshade edition based on the all-wheel-drive XLE trim for the bZ4X. The dark-themed special edition will offer white Wind Chill Pearl paint with a black roof, or dark gray Heavy Metal paint with a contrasting black roof. Other updates include black 20-inch wheels, badging, door handles and a black rear spoiler. A black interior features sporty red stitching.

Newly standard driver aids are locked behind the top trim

For 2025, the bZ4X also gets some new driver aids included as standard. However, Toyota locks these newly standard aids behind the more expensive bZ4X Limited, leaving XLE drivers without. Three driver aids now come included with Limited models: Traffic Jam Assist, lane change assist, and front cross-traffic alert. Traffic Jam Assist allows drivers to navigate stop-and-go traffic hands-free while the bZ4X accelerates, steers, and brakes at speeds under 25 mpg.

Charging gets a little easier

All 2025 bZ4X EVs will come with a year of complimentary charging at any EVgo public charging station. Owners will be able to sign up via the Toyota App, as well as find and use the EVgo stations. More importantly, Toyota will also include a new dual-voltage charging cable and CCS connector that will enable Level 3 DC fast charging. Owners can also opt to include the cost of an in-home Level 2 charger (which will add about 20 miles of range per hour of charging) in their purchase or lease.

The new changes, especially Toyota’s big price cuts, do help to make the bZ4X more appetizing. Additionally, Toyota’s changes to how bZ4x owners can charge should help to compensate somewhat for the EV’s disappointing range — just 256 miles in the real-world Edmunds EV Range Test — which will likely remain the same for 2025. Toyota says the 2025 bZ4X will hit dealers early next year.
