Great combination of performance and comfort
We cross shopped the X3 against Audi Q5, Lexus NX, and Acura RDX. The X3 wasn’t the best value, but a clear winner in terms of performance, comfort, and technology. We’ve been in the Lexus family for many years, but the new NX was disappointing. The car was Lexus smooth and great value, but the engine was the slowest of the bunch and the 6speed was ancient. The X3 performs much better and iDrive is years ahead of Lexus navigation. The new RDX looked impressive on paper but Acura is playing catch-up in segment. Despite having a powerful engine, great interior materials, and awesome sound system, our tester had loose trim and panel gap issues. The drivetrain also didn’t feel as refined as the BMW. The Audi Q5 was a strong contender, and the car had the best interior and smoothest ride. However, we just couldn’t warm up to the exterior redesign. There has also been many quality complains in the forums since they moved production to Mexico, so we decided to skip.
Great SUV ... but a software problem
We're very pleased with the performance, appearance, and cargo capacity of our new X3, but there's apparently a software glitch that's appearing in a few 2019 models. First it was a software induced high-beam malfunction, and now a problem with the software that tracks service due dates. While neither issue is a show-stopper, they've kept our X3 in the shop for the last 10 days, and we've only had it for a month :(

So Disappointed
First of all, I love driving this car. It handles great and is very comfortable. But this is the second time we have had to have it serviced for major issues that should not be happening with a new car, especially with how little it is driven. The first issue was the fuel pump. Current issue with the fuel line and the radiator. It’s been in the shop for 4 business days and they have had to order parts to replace them. I am in Houston, and the parts come from Dallas. One more issue and I give up. I can’t see keeping this car when it’s out of warranty. And I thought I was buying a BMW for quality. So very disappointed.

Stan the Man
This is my 10th BMW that I have owned or leased over the past 36 years. I went from a 5 series to 4 7 series to 4 x-5’s. After 122,000 miles on my 2008 x-5, which was the most reliable BMW I have owned, I decided that I needed more safety features. So, I spent over a year researching my next car. I read literally hundreds of reviews on BMWs , Mercedes , Audi, and Cadillac. A lot of my friends have Cadillac XT5’s. I priced one out but did not test drive one. Nice car but just not my type and with all the safety features, the price was within $100 a month less that a 2019 x-3 with a 3 year lease and 36K miles. After pricing the car at 4 different dealerships, including the one I have dealt with for over 30 years, I was shocked that they were the most expensive for my lease, almost $3,000 more. I did not bother to return to the dealership to try to have the price matched as i was very put off that with my dealership loyalty and USAA number plus loyalty points that they were so disinterested in my new business. So, I took delivery of my x-3 3.0 a few months ago. I will admit that I had a tough time downsizing from an x-5 to an x-3 as I always thought of the x-3 as a car that was marketed for women. Now that I have transitioned to my new computer with a car attached , all I can say is how off base my thinking was. My car has every safety feature you could order. I even refused to take delivery until they switched out the non run flat tires that came with it from Bridgestone Duelers to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. Tire Rack gave the Bridgestone tires a terrible rating while the Michelin’s got the top rating for all season tires. Shame on BMW for trying to deliver such a great car with lousy tires. Needless to say, my car so far has exceeded my expectations. It is almost as long as my dearly departed x-5, rides better, and has so many unbelievable safety features that I read the manual twice and then had 46 questions to have answered when I went back to the dealership a week later for their suggested driver’s course. I am very happy that I pulled the trigger and went with the x3 over an x5 or any other car. I have ridden in a Cadillac xT 5 and test drove the BMW 330 , 340 and rode in X3 4.0. I know I made a well researched out decision. As an aside, my service rep at my old dealership said he had several of his customers relate the same pricing experience they had recently and as I did, leased or purchased their cars elsewhere. I will continue to service my car at my old dealership as their service and rep are excellent. But, I will no longer refer my friends and associates there other than to give them the same feeling of satisfaction when they see how much they can save by comparison shopping. Talk about customer loyalty. Apparently, it means nothing. The downside. My wife who has a 2009 328xi with 37,000 miles and is in almost showroom condition now wants a new 3 series with all the same safety features. At Is have done enough research to make this a short project. In passing I should note I got an elevated t UCB deck because I got non run flats and wanted a spare tire. No regrets.
Could be better
I have owned my X3 for nearly a year now. I enjoy driving it on long trips, the seats are firm, well made and comfortable. I have the Cognac leather with Sapphire metallic paint. It’s a very handsome SUV. Driving around town is another story. I find the twin turbo difficult to gauge when accelerating, it is hurky jerky. Very difficult to control the “sweet spot” for comfortable stop and go driving. Brakes are excellent. Gas mileage is averaging 22.5. Most of our roads are straight, smooth and long from light to light. I went to Vegas a month ago and only averaged 23MPG. This is a disappointment. I have owned many BMWs in the past, and have found MPG to be more than accurate from the window sticker. My other disappointments include the integrity of the build quality. There were three trim areas on the SUV that were delivered loose. One piece on the back fell off. I had a mystery rattle that I had a heck of a time locating...it was above the rear view mirror. It has been in service now 3 times for an engine light. I don’t know if I can buy another BMW, except to feed my ego.

Disappointing..look elsewhere
The performance of this vehicle is pretty good, and at times it does feel like the ultimate driving machine. However, it is far from perfect. Before this car, I wouldn't drive anything but a BMW. I knew that BMW was known for having poor reliability but I never experienced it before this X3. I was already having issues at 1,800 miles. The sunroof cover was rattling, and the M badge fell off of one of my wheels. Apple Carplay was glitchy at first but a phone reboot seemed to help. The digital display screen failed and had to be replaced. The tires (Bridgestone Summer tires) are the worst I've ever experienced. BMW had to replace them at 7,000 miles due to premature wear. My new set of tires had multiple issues as well - never again. I'm a bit disappointed, not because I thought that BMWs were reliable, but having this many issues with a brand new one right off is disappointing. I switched to an Audi that is built in Germany and am so much happier - wish I had started there.

Good Overall except for Loud rolling/humming noise
This is my 4th BMW and the 3rd X3. Overall I was happy with the 2014 & 2017 X3s (AWD). The notable shortcomings were knocking sound at the back especially on uneven road surface, some rattles, overly sensitive parking assist and the power liftgate on the 2017 that doesnot always respond when foot is swiped underneath. The knocking sound was remedied by dealership by inserting some padding in the luggage compartment. This disappeared for a while but subsequently came back at the time the car's lease expiry. I got the 2019 X3 3.0 AWD at the end of April 2019. Overall I find the ride of the car good & better that the 2017 X3. However, subsequently I started to be very disappointed of the unusually loud and very annoying rolling/humming sound. The dealership explained that this is usual for the car. However, in a subsequent comparison drive with the car provided (same year model & same run-flat Bridgestone tires) by the service department of the dealership showed that the service car provided was quieter. I also did a comparison drive against the car of a friend (same model year and same tires) and again noted that my car was a lot noisier. I will be again bringing back my car to the dealership by I seriously doubt that they will be able to remedy this issue. I m considering switching to the GLC 300 or to the Q5 but I will probably wait for the 2020 models. The 2019 X3 also continues tp have an overly sensitive parking assist as it goes into this mode when ones get near a car at the traffic light. Were it not for the loud rolling/humming noise which should be present in a luxury, I would have been very happy with the 2019 X3.

Looks Like an SUV... Drives Like a Car
I have had my x3 for about one month, I have the all wheel drive version. Here are my impressions. It handles well for an SUV. There is a bit of body roll but probably expected. This is my first SUV in a number of years. Power is adequate to good. Road noise is minimal with the Pirelli all season run flats. Ride is smooth. I worry they won't last and I will be on the hook for tires. I leased a demo. Options add up very quickly. Get the nav for a bigger screen. Apple Car play costs after one year. BMW app for unlocking/locking the car is pretty good. I think the BMW map software is just ok. Google, like normal, is better. I have the higher end leather seats, they feel good. There is a thigh extension for taller drivers. So called digital dash is lame. Start stop feature is not as pronounced as on my old three series. Harmon Kardon is supposedly standard even if you don't get the upgrade I did not...but miss having the subwoofer. It is not branded as HK if you don't pay for the upgrade. I do wish I had wireless charging but mine did not. You cannot upgrade aftermarket unless you do some serious zombie work...not doable on a lease. There are some negatives, the tech is pretty involved, need to scroll thru menus to set up properly. BMW so called genius did some of it when I picked up the car. I have the heated and cooled seats...heating works better than cooling. Not sure it is really worth getting the 'cooled' seats. Panoramic sunroof is massive. I do like it. I thought the heads up display was a gimmick but now of course I do like it. Retailed at 54K. Has safety features, but I think my Accord does them all better. Lane keeping assist in the Accord is more pronounced than in the BMW. I did consider the Honda Passport but local dealer would not deal. Plenty of cargo room. Seats fold down. Some reviewers have had software issues, so far I have had none. I will update my review as time passes. I am pretty picky, and so far I am pleased for the most part. I traded in a 2016 320xi.

Outstanding Vehicle
I was looking for a more roomy and more comfortable vehicle to comute every day to work. After owning a 2015 328XI for a few years, I definitely needed a car that didn’t give me a back pain due to awful seats (3 series seats are a shame) and that had more space for my family. After driving a loaner X3 when my car was being serviced I realized that the X3 was the car I was looking for. Decided to lease this time so I can return it in case It is not good enough but I am really confident I will keep it after the lease is over. Outstanding, reliable and comfortable vehicle. Strongly recommend. Don’t forget to add the drive assistance package.

Handles like a sedan with room of a larger CUV
Excellent power and response with great MPGs 25-27 city/hwy combined in mixed driving. Comfortable leather seats Great outward visibility Handling that is near as good as a sports sedan Alot of technology that is satisfying including Apple Car Play and good infotainment system with large bright high def screen. It would get 5 stars if it were lower on cost. But it was worth the xtra $ after incentives. It doesn't have the glitz and glam of sportier CUVs like and an M40i, SQ5, GLC 43 but compared to and RDX and XC60 it handles and drives with much more driver engagement for spirited driving. If you can pick up one used for less make sure it is not more expensive than leasing a new one, its 57% residuals really made it a great value.

Wish it wasn’t just a loaner
I took my 2016 X3 in for service and was given the 2019 model for a loaner. I ended up driving it for a week. The exterior design is beautiful! The steering is less stiff than my 2016, which was nice. Accelerated smoothly virtually every time. The radio controls and climate controls have been swapped. This model did not have the heads up display, which I surprisingly missed. I didn’t realize how much I used it. The controls seemed a little jumbled on the display, but I’m sure I would get used to them in time. It also got better gas mileage than mine. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this vehicle. It drove like a dream!

Still a pleasure
This is our second X3 and it’s even better than the 2016 we had. It’s truly a please to drive. A little bigger than the 2016 and the interior has been upgraded for the better. The engine and transmission are perfectly matched. The gas mileage is very good even for driving in a city where you are stop and go constantly. The ride is a joy and the base audio system is more than adequate. Very happy with this suv!

Finally got my 2019 X3
After comparing with GLC and Q5, we decided to purchase the 2019 BMW X3 sdrive30i this Summer. Among all the local inventories near the CA bay area, we cannot find one we like. For example, none of them has the option of rear manual side window shades. Thus, we ordered a custom one with the executive package in 8/04. We plan to give up during the long waiting process as we know the Tesla model 3 only takes four weeks to deliver. I watched many review videos of X3, GLC, Q5, and XC60, we still think our custom ordered X3 is the best in terms of technology, interior, and handling. [10/5] After 7 weeks, we finally got our new BMW X3 (only 3 miles) in 9/22. After I drive a few miles out of the dealership, the system shows TPM malfunction. I have to contact the dealer and scheduled the service last Friday (9/28). They notified me that my car is fixed and ready to pick up this Tuesday. Unfortunately, the TPM malfunction shows again this Wednesday. I have to return the car to the service center again. I thought the TPM malfunction should be easy to fix, but they still do not know how to fix the problem. [10/10 update] I finally got my X3 back from the service center. Hopefully, the TPM malfunction would not show again. What I really impressed is my sales. He helped me throughout the process and pushed their service department. He even arranges someone to drive this car back to me. In comparison, I called the BMW customer relations Monday morning and I do not think they really care about the experience of the customer. One guy simply called back Tuesday morning at 8 AM PST. I missed the call, but I did call back and leave a voice message. Unfortunately, I did not got any reply. Although I have some frustrating experience with BMW, I do like the new BMW X3. I have the chance to drive the 2018 BMW X1 and 2018 BMW 330i as the loaner car. The high-quality feel of BMW X3 is way better than X1 and 330i. Even the key of the BMW X3 is much better than X1 (looks the same but the weight is different) and 330i. I think the handling, noise, road quality, interior quality, technology and features of X3 is much better than other vehicles in the similar price range.

Black Beauty with Cognac
This is our 6th BMW in 8 years...yeh, we are fans. This X3 doesn’t disappoint except for some exterior trim pieces that needed to be reinstalled. I believe this BMWs best value for utility and comfort. With a 51k sticker price, I purchased for $43.5. It appears that BMWs can be a really good value. Sturdy, inside out, and very quiet and comfortable. Transmission is eager to shift from the 1st gear to 2nd which can cause a little “lunging”, but that really is the only annoyance I think is worth mentioning. Gas mileage is averaging 24 miles per gallon/ balanced driving. My 2017 Santa Fe Sport could only deliver 19mpg. The packages are worth their weight. They just make the driving experience, second to none. And, oh, the ambient interior lighting at night is just stunning. Choose your mood lighting!

Better overall car than the 2016 328i
Just leased a 2019 x3 SDrive. It may not ultimately handle at a very high limit like my 2016 328 (and it quite possibly could, although it is too nice and too new to try), but in every other respect, it outclasses it. Better ride comfort and composure, nicer interior design and comfort. Better ingress and egress. Very quiet and refined. It’s less than a week old and I was driving on the freeway in so cal. I had previously set the speed warning alert at 80, and as I was driving, it chimed in. At first, without looking at the speedometer I thought someone had reset the speed warning to 60. (I was driving up the Camarillo grade.) Then, I checked the speedometer and was initially confused. The speedo showed 80, but my 30 years of driving experience told me I was going about 60. This car is exceedingly refined. Well worth 48k, a bargain perhaps, but don’t tell BMW because then they might raise the price. I can’t even imagine how much fun the m40i model would be.

Great car for a family. Make sure to test drive first. Base is good, but better if you get the Driving Assistance package. You will feel very safe on the road with this car using the Active Blind Spot Detection.

Great SUV
This is our 3rd BMW; phytonic blue metallic/cognac vernasca leather. We still have our 2007 328xi and 2008 M3 coupe. I did my “homework”, researched and test drive X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, Acura RDX, Infinity Q50 and Q60, Lexus RX350 and NX300, and some none luxury SUVs like Nissan Murano, Mazda CX5 Signature, Toyota Highlander and RAV4, Honda Passport and CRV. I’m retired and I took time to get right SUV for myself; my wife loves her 328xi with manual transmission. X3 is our first vehicle with automatic transmission. New SUV replaced 2004 Acura TL which had 190K mikes and was very reliable vehicle. We were excited for 2019 RDX, but reading owners reviews we decided to stay away from new RDX for now even it would be $8-10K chipper than X3 we got. Our BMW cars are quite reliable for 11-12 years we owned, just had regular maintenance, 328 has about 90k mls, which make our decision even easier. We build X3 in specs we like/need, so it’s MSRP $54,895. Driving X3 for 3 months now and VERY happy with car we “build”. We love everything about new car: Adaptive suspension, M3 brakes, all safety options, very comfortable seats with so many ways to adjust, NAV, cool ambient light in cabin with large spectrum of colors to choose, standard with panoramic moonroof and roof rails ...everything is very easy to use... and gas mileage is better than on our 328xi ! We don’t like Run Flat Tire (RFT)-standard option on most BMW, so we build it with option to get none RFT and have spare tire in trunk. I’m planning to buy better all-weather or winter tires to be safe in Northeastern winter; I knew that prior we ordered our car as there wasn’t option in build process to choose tire model. Per owner reviews OEM Bridgestone tires are not the best, but X3 handle GREAT on downpour couple weeks ago (highway and side streets) we had “storm weather advisory” and it was good way to test car ;-) and I’m NOT a SLOW driver! Driving experience: yes, it’s doesn’t drive like M3, but it’s not a sport car eater. So as of now I’m Very Happy with choice we make!

After 5 BMWs, this is the LAST
Purchased new. More days in the shop than any vehicle I’ve ever owned! Electronics are a total failure! Yesterday, as I was attempting a turn in construction traffic, it kept dying and putting itself into park. Finally turned, parked the car, and shopped. Return to car with $550 of groceries, in 98 degree heat, and X3 won’t open. Car alarm is going off. Nothing I can do to stop. Finally get open manually with key and there’s NOTHING. DEAD. After an hour (so long perishable groceries), I finally connect to BMW road side assistance. Another hour. Finally towed to dealership. Won’t know status until Monday. This car was just in the shop 18 days ago for electronic issues. Unreliable and I’m DONE with this automaker!

Nice sporty/practical SUV
Looks nice, lots of room, good acceleration for a 4 turbo. Nit picks no Android Auto, single USB plug. Upgraded stereo is average. Controls are not the most logical. Interior is nice but still a little bit behind Audi/Mercedes as far as layout materials. Nice discount paid 48500 regular price was 53500

Coolant leak with less than 45k miles
Never had a car with coolant leaks with less than 45K miles, low quality manufacture radiator hoses and not covered by BMW warranty. Got hit by 1K $ on parts and labor just for a rubber hose replacement.
Horribly Disappointed and Frustrated
I have never been more unhappy with a new car. At 6,500 miles the steering wheel material began rippling. At 7,500 miles, the check engine light came on while I had a 600 mile drive ahead of me. I had to battle BMW to replace the steering wheel as they tried to point fingers at me to alleviate responsibility for the poor material it is made out of. As far as the check engine light, the vent valve of the emission system had failed and needed to be replaced. My car was in the shop for over a week. Fast forward to 13,000 miles, again, I am dealing with a rippling steering wheel in addition to the a failed sensor in the transmission! Very scary when you are in drive mode on the freeway but your car is not shifting gears and showing it in manual mode. Then when you try to shift gears as it is in manual mode but the car is switching into neutral. I had left 2 previous messages for the service associate I have been assigned with no call back. When I showed up at BMW he said sorry but I have been busy. The car was unsafe to drive!! My car has now been in the shop for a week. They have replaced the fail sensor but AGAIN I am battling them to replace the steering wheel. I did not purchase an expensive car to be in the shop every 7,000 miles. This will be the 1 and only BMW I ever drive. Absolutely not worth the inconvenience and frustration.
Love mine
I traded my 2017 Bmw gran coupe because it was just too small and not practical and the ride was very uncomfortable. My x3 has solved all of that and rides like a dream!! Sits up nice and high, has tons of power, really comfortable and a large capacity under the hatch for hauling whatever! Wish I had done this sooner!

Great vehicle better then previous Generation
Waited for BMW to revise previous gen X3. It was worth the wait. They nailed it on design and looks and performance for a SUV with a turbo 4. Gas mileage is great for a vehicle of this nature. Run flats are actually not as bad as people say (at least not on this vehicle). Mine is an X-line S30i (not the AWD version). I drove both and since being in Atlanta don't really need the AWD so saved the money and spent it on options. Only disappointment was that I did not find one with the Harmon Kardon stereo upgrade and yet with all the proper options car was still almost $50k. Kind of think for that money you should get the HK included. Other then that no real issues. Functionality in cockpit is good, visibility is good. Compared it to Q5 and MB GLC-300. All great cars and you should test all 3 as everyone fits in the seats differently. I just felt more comfortable in the X3 and felt it handled better then the MB. Audi with AWD actually handled really well but their 2019 models do not have touch screen interface. I believe their 2020 models will. All 3 vehicles are really nice, not sure either is really that much better then the other really just comes down to form/fit/function while you drive them and sit in them. Don't think you could go wrong with choosing anyone one of them. So I went with the BMW and have no regrets at this point after driving it 6k miles and 9 months . Vehicle is still doing ok after 2 years. Would still recommend it at this point although the Q5 changes for 2021 make it very competitive against the X3 and a must test drive before you make your decision. 2.5 years in to lease and vehicle is still performing as expected. Purchased at lease end due to lack of inventory choices. Still performing as expected however OEM RFT's (bridgestone dueler's) had to be replaced at 23k miles. I rotated them per schedule and monitored pressure consistently. Was hoping to get at least 30k. Oh well they are RFT's. I am lucky not to have to put a lot of miles on per year because at $1,200 a pop for replacement tires, it can get expensive quickly if you are driving 12k to 15k miles per year

Constant Repairs !!!
2019 X3 with 162,000 miles, I have had major repairs done. From Oct of 2022 June 2023 I have spent over $12,000. I do drive a lot, but this seems excessive. I have always kept up on the maintenance and inspections and all work was done at the dealership. However, this is becoming a bit much. Has anyone else experienced this?

Very good vehicle after some adjustments..
BMW X3 wasn't our first choice but we were in a hurry to get a 2nd hand vehicle at the time so the choices are very limited. Comparing to Mercedes GLC at the time, GLC is a piece [non-permissible content removed]: Noisy, uninspiring handling, engine output mundane and the room for the front row narrower. Not to mention the poor reputation of the M264. In comparison X3 is so much better in every aspect maybe except the exterior look. (GLC is beautiful in my personal opinion) I wasn't completely happy about the following things on my X3 sDrive30i: 1) slow gear changing speed, jittering or jerking when you do sudden acceleration after deceleration. 2) Noisy and harsh riding from the OEM run-flat tires. 3) The original brake pads has very good initial bite but lack of real stopping power in a long hard stop and creates a lot of dust on the rim 4) No Android Auto 5) Tiny rear mirror and insensitive blind spot detection made it very hard to detect lower vehicle runs parallel to me. Eventually I had all of these issues sorted out myself since some of those items need to be change/maintained as a 2nd hand vehicle. However I think there's a little too much to be changed to become optimal for my personal preference. In summary, I am perfectly happy with vehicle as a 2nd owner right now and the car is really a perfect blend between performance and comfort. It's excellent for my small family after some tweaks. However, I would hesitate to buy a new one.

Fun to Drive
What a fun car to drive! Pick up is amazing, steering is responsive and the ride is great. One thing that could improve is despite being a “luxury” car, BMW makes you pay for what should be standard items like blind spot notifications, active cruise control, automatic high beams etc. These are found on many “non-luxury” vehicles.

One thing holding back that 5th Star
The car is amazing. We had an X5 years ago and then moved to the Audi Q5, and now just purchased a fully loaded X3. Rides great, has every bell and whistle on it. Not sure if I like the Head’s Up display yet or not, as when I have sunglasses on, (and we live in So. Cal) you can’t even see it. The one thing I hate about this car, and kept me from that 5th star, is that the electronics stay on when I pull in the garage until I either have to hit the radio button to turn it off, or lock the car. We don’t lock the car in our closed garage, they should make it then when you turn off the engine, the electronics shut off automatically. This is a dumb feature and dealership said there is no way to alter that. WHY?

Worst X3 I’ve Ever Owned
This is my 5th X3. I roll over into a new one about every 2-3 years, when approaching the end of my warranty. I have always loved this car...obviously...or I would not have kept coming back. However, this particular year truly has me contemplating no longer purchasing a BMW. While the vehicle handles well and is very good on gas,the problems have been numerous. 1)the lever underneath the sport seats (had no choice) used to release the extension of the seat hits the back of my calf and is constantly extending out. The lever to release this is not far enough back under the seat. 2) The bottom edge of the doors are not smooth. Getting out of the car put a gouge near my shin which has left a scar. 3) When my navigationmap is in and I make a call...after getting of the phone the navigation does not switch back to the map. I must depress the control knob 3 times to get back to the map. My other cars went right back to the map after I hung up. This is dangerous! 4) While it’s good to have an adequate defrost... this defrost is SO POWERFUL that the whole front window dogs up completely! Twice, on an expressway, I did this and git very frightened because I could not see the road at all. 5) my last X.3 the low fuel indicator would go on when I only had 67 miles left. That light was in red and would remain on until I refueled. The 2019 X.3 however… The indicator light does not go on until you only have 40 miles left. That indicator light is in white. That indicator light shuts off in a few seconds and does not go back on. Twice I happened to miss that white light that went on for only a few seconds and almost ran out of gas. This can be very dangerous on a long trip, whether you are traveling in the day or at night. 6) i’ve never had a problem with the key fib on all my other BMW’s. This one, however, is extremely sensitive. With the key fob in my pocket I would still find the back hatch open. So, I Purchased a case to protect the key fob. This does not work either, as if I am holding the keys in my hand and opening the front door, sometimes the back hatch opens. I am very concerned about this because I have a large breed dog that I care very much for and I’m always frightened that the hatch will open and he will get out and get hit by a car. I am never relaxed without a rest up because I’m always afraid of the way I handled the key fob. this does not work either, as if I am holding the keys in my hand and opening the front door, sometimes the back hatch opens. I am very concerned about this because I have a large breed dog that I care very much for and I’m always frightened that the hatch will open and he will get out and get hit by a car. I am never relaxed without a rest area because I’m always afraid of the way I handled the key fob. I am always tense. 7) on several occasions at a rest stop, when I needed to leave the dog in the car for a few minutes only, I would leave the car running… doirs locked… and the A/C on . On a couple of occasions I came back to the car to find the motor had turned off… hense… no A/C. Sometimes when I lock the car and keep the car running sometimes the car turns off and sometimes it does not. This causes a lot of tension for me when I stop at a rest stop. I have never had any of the above things happen in any of the other X3’s I have owned. This has been quite disconcerting. I truly don’t believe that I will be purchasing another X3 after this experience.

Don't buy BMW unless you really have extra money.
We had this x3 in 2019. The break router went bad 2 months after we bought it. Dealer replaced front dishes. 2 year later, this summer 2022 the break humming noise came out and vibrated. Dealer said all 4 break dishes and pads needed replaced because the vehicle was not driven enough to that rust buildup caused problems. The break system is not covered in warranty. We have to pay some $2,400 for German parts and local labor. I still suspect the dealer lied on us and cheated for money but we are not professional to fight back with proof. The lesson is that DO NOT BUY BMW unless you are really rich and willing to through your money into the money pit.

overall great vehicle
I recently bought a used 2019 X3 2.0 with under 10k miles and have driven it an additional 3k miles since including a 1200 mile trip. The Mineral White paint was extra cost and appears to be a very deep high quality paint job. It has optional 21" wheels with low profile staggered runflats which ride surprisingly well and quiet. Seats are very comfortable and the optional Vernasca leather looks great. I drove the 1200 mile trip in under 18 hours and never got fatigued. The iDrive controls work well and the display is also a touchscreen. The original owner never had a problem....just oil change at 7500m and I've had no issues as well. Vehicle has three drive modes, Sport, Comfort, and Eco which can be individually tuned. Getting 23-24 mpg normal driving with 30+ on my one long trip. So far I've got no complaints with the 2.0 but I'll probably get a performance tune soon. Overall, highly recommend.
The Ultimate Driving Machine
Love my Bimmer. Great ride, comfortable and extremely reliable! My BMW X3 is now going on five years old and my opinion of this vehicle has not changed. I have not experienced any mechanical problems. Just regularly scheduled service. The dealer is professional and very responsive to my needs.

Cooling system fail at 60k
Just out of warranty and cooling system started leaking. Repair estimate was 14,000.00!!! Not even worth fixing. A horrible decision to purchase a BMW. Never again.
Fun to drive
All I can say about this car it is a treat to drive, and if you buy one get X drive fully loaded, it's fun to drive.

Great buy!
Awesome SUV. Good power and nice cabin refinements. All round good suv.
X3 works for me
I just traded in my 2019 for a 2021 because I got a fantastic trade-in value. The little guy never caused me any trouble and it’s a great driving car. I loved the panoramic roof, heated seats that go all the way up the back, comfy and a cool instrument panel that’s easy to use. This is on top of the fact that it’s a fun car to drive.

Haven’t driven it long but love the performance and love the features that come with the car. Learning the vehicle and enjoying the experience.
BMW X3 worth the price tag!
Great driving experience. Fast and nimble. Turbo is a delight. Interior is elegant. Very comfortable too. Exterior design is elegant specially in a darker color for me.

I leased this car for 3 years
This is an awesome car, solid, heavy and have a lot of power. I mostly drove daily to railroad station which is 5 minutes away. Occasionally drove to NJ about an hour away. I took good care of it and its interior looked brand new when I returned it in November. I would have bought it if I wanted to own a car. Unfortunately I like to lease a new car every 3 years.

Gotta get you one
I’m so in love with this truck. It drives smooth. It’s not too big or small. Just right. It has everything I was looking for. The interior and added features makes it so much better.

Coolant Leaks and more @ 60k miles
I fixed a cooling leak for the upper hose, which cost $1400. I also found out the coolant seemed dark so I took it in for a flush at the local dealership. They found another possible leak from the water pump and a possible leak from another hose. They gave me an estimate of $2000. They found the windshield washer pump to be worn out and would cost $300 to replace. They also found the two motor mounts requiring replacement which will cost $3000. I was about to go ahead with the repairs, but I know the oil filter housing isn’t a time bomb. So I reluctantly traded in and bought what I am familiar with either a Toyota or Lexus. So I got a 2025 Lexus RX. The Lexus definitely doesn’t drive as well as the X3 however, I am no longer concerned with hoses that may burst gas that may fail or any other engine related issues.

Brillliant Vehicle
I owned an Audi Q5. Very nice vehicle. Was thinking of another, then drove the X3. Both vehicles are excellent, but I say the X3 is brilliant. Just a shade better. Beautiful fit and finish. Quiet yet fully capable. Great safety features and a bit more spacious then the Q5. Pricing in my area was just a bit more aggressive on the X3. The BMW seems to do everything well.
Excellent
Very good car. I love it.
