My fastest but not my favorite M3
Got my M3 Competition XDrive a few months ago. Frozen Portimao Blue with Blue/Black interior. Beautiful car! Great ergonomics. The G80 rips. 503 hp, and equally important, AWD. This car is a rocket-ship, although its straight six twin turbo doesn't sound anywhere as impressive as my V8 convertible did. Problem? They made the car too big. It is considerably larger than the E93 or E46 I have owned in the past. Although no slouch in the handling department, the G80 doesn't handle quite as well as either of the other two I have had. Criticisms aside, this has got to be one of most impressive cars on the road. It really throws you back in your seat!

This may be the Ultimate Driving Machine
I've primarily driven Japanese brand vehicles, so this is my first German brand. And on top of that, I went with an M car. I can appreciate that looks are subjective, but I am impressed with the styling (even the front end). It has a menacing look/profile. The interior is definitely a step up and has that luxury feel. The tech in this car is much more advanced than my other car, so there is a steep learning curve. Since it is running on summer tires, the weather/temperature this time of year have limited my seat time with the car--I've only had the car for just under 3 months and have tacked on nearly 400 miles. But within those limited miles driven, I can certainly say lots smiles during those drives. This car PULLS with ease; you could easily find yourself in near triple digit speed, so beware! UPDATE (09-Jul-2024): With the warmer temps, I have been enjoying taking the car out and tacking on miles--currently at 3,2xx miles. Now with 7 months of ownership, I'm starting to get familiar with the car and enjoyed a nice road trip to South Carolina with mostly highway miles along with some scenic routes. The car is an excellent cruiser--I was shocked to have achieved 28.1 mpg rating from a ~ 500 hp 6MT sedan!

doesn't feel like an M3
Have had my G80 for about 6 months now. Had an E46 and an E93, so it is my 3rd M3. No comparison for power, the twin turbo straight six rips. This is a very quick car. Because it is a bigger car, the G80 doesn't "feel" as good as either the E46 or E93. It seems to me either one of these older cars turns better than the G80. Great car, but I don't like the size increase. Coming up on a year now. Have had no issues with the car, but still feel the same. They should NOT have made this car bigger.

Came from a 2021, jumped into a 2023.
I've never been so disappointed with how I spent $100,000, but here I am. Traded in a 2021 M3 Competition RWD for a 2023 Competition xDrive this year and I hate absolutely everything about the new ride. BMW's new iD8 infotainment system is almost enough to single handedly ruin this car. I've owned it for 6 months and I want out BADLY. I wish I had never gotten rid of my 2021

6 Speed manual with 500 HP and 4 doors??
This was an upgrade from an M440 GC with the B58. What a difference in steering, braking, handling and power. I mean this thing feels different in so many ways - far lighter weight and much more direct controls. I love it and the 6 speed manual. Save the manuals - this could be a future classic for sure. Manual, RWD, Staight 6 power... all M essentials since the beginning of time.

See it in person before concluding you don’t like the front end. The S58 engine is incredible. An all-time great according to a major car magazine.

Best car so far! Fantastic reliability and perform
2022 BMW M3 xdrive. Experience has been absolutely phenomenal. Personal experience with 45K miles has been very good. Reliability has been very strong. Only a fuel vent needed to be changed and differential seal needed replacement. Other than that it's been oil changes and brakes all covered under very comprehensive maintenance plan. The use of use to get the car into the desired drive mode with the on steering wheel buttons should be standard in every performance vehicle from manufacturers. Most importantly the brakes are very consistent and provide positive driver feedback and modulation. Acceleration with the left paddle pulled and when wanting to get into a gap in traffic is very helpful as well. And then holding the right paddle to go back into the normal transmission setting is greatly appreciated. Handling and bump absorption for a sports sedan 4.5 out of 5. Very appropriate with three options to choose from. And in this model year the appropriate use of buttons are game changer. The only model left without the edit screen complications is the eight series sedan and coupe. Positive owner experience and service experience as well.
Missing the mark with iDrive 8
I have owned this vehicle for 8 months and 9400 miles. I will be getting rid of the vehicle as soon as possible due to the incompetence of BMW service centers, but I felt that I must write a review on the major issues I find after owning the vehicle that BMW could easily remedy. The iDrive system in the MY 23+ M3 and M4 is dreadful. At first you don’t think you will care or notice, but it quickly becomes apparent that you must learn to navigate every menu in the car by memory and a touch wheel thingy, or you have to touch the screen. Everything in the car has to be access through a mini menu through 42 different car apps. Even the seat heaters? Why? There is a power/ volume knob, and a previous/advance track button. That’s it. The steering wheel previous/advance track and the dash buttons work about 50% of the time with car play with my 14 pro. It hates if you restart the car before it goes completely back to sleep and the Bluetooth WiFi CarPlay connection gets out of wack. Add to the fact that BMW can’t seem to figure out how to make a car turn off properly either. I have to manually turn off the radio half the time I turn the vehicle off. The track mode and sport mode disabling features on the vehicle is stupid. Why can’t I just change the layout of the hud/info display and still have lane assist or cruise control? The way the data is displayed on the screen is all of a sudden for track use only why? The keys are stupid. They give you a credit card, and two key fobs, and then you can use most newer phones to unlock and drive the vehicle, but bmw decided only one of your bmw ID can be attached to only a single key. So if you use any other key other than the one you linked to the bmw ID, it acts like you are a guest and once again, you have to go into a menu and type in crap to make it recognize you and adjust the seat and all that…why can’t I link all keys to bmw ID? Other than the iDrive 8’s complete lack of buttons, CarPlay working half the time, the car not wanting to shut off correctly, it is mechanically impeccable. Steering is numb, but by no means lame. AWD and rwd modes are great on the competition model. The comfort seats are better than the buckets, and most bucket owners will tell you the same thing. The paint is beautiful and bmws individual program on top of its standard colors usually hit the mark. The interior options are all very nice as well. The leather and finish are great. I would not normally complain about tiny things such as buttons, but iDrive in the 21+ m2/3/4 is bad. It makes me not want to drive it half the time when I have to pull over and resync my phone because buttons stopped functioning, or I open my door and I have to mute the music or force the car off so everyone at the car show doesn’t hear my Enya playlist. It’s missing the mark and while I applaud the German companies for innovation and leading the way in design and technology, but that doesn’t mean I should have to navigate a menu to adjust my air con. Stop trying to be Tesla.

I have ordered my 4th BMW M3 Competition for March 2025 delivery…as an ex racer, car dealer and restoration services builder, I know cars well, either over 72,000 run with this model, have run long distances plus every day driving in Atlanta, also over 146 mph in the mountains plus a day at Road Atlanta with over 142 mph on the back straight…

IS THE G8 M3 UGLY OR STRIKING? TOTALLY SUBJECTIVE
I own a 2025 BMW M3 xDrive G82x. I have Porsche and MB as well (Taycan Turbo, SL 63 AMG). I have read numerous articles which advocate against this car due solely to its curb appeal and looks, namely, it's front end. I have heard the term "beaver tooth" and similar subjective descriptions which are less than flattering. I acknowledge that the looks of this M3 (and M4) are controversial, polarizing and a deviation from traditional BMW styling. I also respect those commentators who feel the car is "ugly". Those who feel this way are obviously entitled to their subjective aesthetic analysis and opinions. But that is what they are - subjective opinion. I happen to love the look of the G82 with the same passion and conviction as those who hate it. I would not be critical of persons who decide against acquiring the G82 solely on aesthetics - just as I am not critical of those who prefer vanilla over chocolate, of vice versa. What is not subjective is the capability, drivability, build quality, engineering and performance. These metrics are measurable and not subjective. This is not to say that other performance sedans which I personally find less desirable are any less capable (Cadillac CT4-V, Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio, MB C63 AMG, Audi, RS-5 and others I do not intentionally omit). These are top notch examples of high performance smaller sedans with high marks on all of these metrics. But consider this - more G series M3's have been sold that the F series that came before.
