2021 Acura TLX SH-AWD 4dr Sedan AWD w/2.0T and A-Spec Package (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 10A)

Recently picked up a redesigned AWD TLX w/turbo 4 cyl. in A-Spec trim. Really wanted the Type S but decided that the eventual ramp up in cost and lower fuel economy probably would have been deal breakers. I am very glad the TLX is no longer based on the Accord platform as it looks great and can stand out more from its Honda brethren. Here are my initial impressions. Pros: - Engine has some zip and should be more than adequate for most people (enthusiasts can continue waiting for the Type S) - Looks like a sleek sports car (especially if you choose the red/black interior seating)! - Seats are super comfortable, even more so than the ones on the MDX I was driving. Good support and I can imagine long drives being pleasant. - Suspension has been upgraded to double-wishbone. I don't feel I miss the active-dampening of the Advance trim. - Trunk release button is handy for when your hands are full (just stand there with fob in proximity and push the button!) - Awesome ELS sound system - Wireless phone charging Cons: - There is no spare tire (for additional fuel economy). You'll deal with a compressor and sealant in the trunk. You can always ask roadside assistance to do it for you. - The touchpad takes some getting used to. Unfortunately the method to operate the tactile pad for Acura apps is not the same as for when you use Carplay. I can't comment on the Android version but it may be the same issue. I've gotten used to this but I can see this being a deal breaker for some folks. - Car is marketed to compete with the BMW 3 series, C-Class, etc. and is competitive in price, interior space, trunk space, but not in fuel economy. I believe the exterior being more like the 5-series or E-Class size and the weight has quite a bit to do with it. This oddball combination forces the TLX to be more of a direct competitor with the Kia Stinger GT-Line for these reasons (fuel economy is identical). Speaking of weight, the TLX is only about 250 lb less than the MDX I gave up. Luckily the engine is more than sufficient to power the car on the highway. I always hated how underpowered a 2012 C-Class I owned was similar in weight to this TLX but struggled to accelerate with its underpowered V6. In conclusion, I'll stop short of saying this car is for "Acura fans only" but it is definitely not for everyone. The looks may keep sales high but only time will tell how long-term owners feel. Either way, it is most definitely worth it to get a test drive if you are on the fence after this review! 2 Year update: I've turned in the car a year early as I got tired of the following issues: 1) Infotainment works about 90% of the time. It's also quite slow when compared to true luxury makes. 2) Braking on this car is very inconsistent. I always feel like I have to give quite a bit of room to the car in front of me. This car never let me forget how heavy it is. 3) I was hoping I could get closer to 30 mpg but it was really more b/w 23-24 mpg from mixed driving. 4) It's an adventure when driving through narrow streets. I always hated visiting NYC with this car, especially when looking for parking! You may get this car for the looks but make sure it checks a lot of other boxes before you do!

Fast Yet Practical

Ajpetro, 02/24/2022
2021 Acura TLX Type S 4dr Sedan AWD w/3.0T (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A)

I've owned a number of fun to drive vehicles over the years including an Eclipse GSX, Integra Type R and a Mustang GT. Currently, along with TLX Type S, my wife and I drive a 2015 M4 Convertible and a 2012 Acura TL SHAWD with a manual transmission. While the Type S isn't quite as fast as our M4, it's much easier to live with on a daily basis. Good power, great handling and enough room to make it practical. Plans are to take it along with the M4 to a HPDE this Spring. It will be interesting to see which one is the most fun on the track.

Acura TLX Type S and it’s worth it

Mark F., 04/30/2023
2023 Acura TLX Type S 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A)

I researched the trio of the Audi S4, BMW M340, and Acura TLX Type S narrowing it down to the TLX because of a few factors: (1) Design and color choice; (2) Acura reliability; (3) Value with included features; and (4) Performance. We all know the TLX is heavier and not as fast as the S4 or M340 however the package of features and quality build of the car ultimately were the determining factors. I use the car for daily driving and it has enough HP to get around fast. The SH-AWD is fantastic in both dry and wet conditions. My two complaints about the car is the fact that I’ve had to get my puddle lights replaced twice because moisture gets in the side view mirrors, and I wish the car came with HUD. Overall, I do recommend this car because it is fun to drive, interior materials are high quality, and the design is amazing.

Feeling conflicted

2021 Acura TLX 4dr Sedan w/2.0T and A-Spec Package (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 10A)

I am on my 4th three year Acura lease in a row now. It all started with a 2013 TSX Special Edition, followed by a 2016 TLX 2.4 Tech and then a 2019 TLX 2.4 A-Spec. I recently took delivery of a 2021 TLX A-Spec and while I am enjoying it, I find myself somewhat conflicted. Each of my cars was generally an improvement over the one previous to it. They offered enough changes to keep me interested enough to remain a loyal Acura customer. Enter the all-new 2021 TLX. It by all measures is one of the biggest leaps that Acura has made in a number of years. This leap, though, may leave some longtime customers slightly frustrated. Where evolution and constant improvement is key to continued loyalty, the new TLX has an Achilles heel. Where the past few cars have always been better than the last, this new car, while still better in most ways, also falls short in a few areas, but let's start with what is good. Performance is definitely at the head of that list. Acura has finally given the TLX the base engine that it deserves. It’s basically a detuned version of that which powers the mighty Civic Type R and it is a strong performer. While lacking the rev happiness and true aural pleasure that was a mainstay of the previous two engines offered, it makes up for it by offering a strong punch and it moves this car with absolute authority. Gas mileage, thankfully, has thus far been better than the EPA estimate getting 24-25 in and around town and 32 on the highway. Unfortunately, while the engine is eager, Honda's new 10 speed transmission is simply not quite the dance partner that my previous cars 8 speed DCT was to the 2.4L. That DCT was simply seamless and with the exception of the occasional lag when down-shifting was always what made those cars a blast to drive in spite of the 2.4's somewhat limited power. The new tranny just feels like there may be a bit of work left to do on the software to get rid of some clumsiness and sharpen up its smoothness of operation. And this is where everything that follows really starts to be a list of tradeoffs from the old car to the new. The Chassis is all new and is said to be presently exclusive to Acura. Gone is the front strut suspension in favor a double wishbone setup that harkens Acuras of yore. The steering feel and overall composure are finally deserving of this car. One slight downside, at least in the A-Spec trim, is ride. While generally well composed over smooth to moderate surfaces, it quickly loses that composure when the going gets rough. It simply runs out of compliance and behaves poorly over bigger bumps. Despite that shortcoming and likely because of this setup, the handing is quite impressive. Especially considering that Acura has now ditched its impressive PAWS all-wheel steering system. Another tradeoff, this one sacrificing turning radius which is fairly poor for a mid-sized sedan. Lastly, where the overall driving experience is much quieter, tire noise is much more intrusive. This is a strange tradeoff and may also the source of the handling's weakest point, its average at best Bridgestone touring tires. From the outside, the car is sharp. Everything is nicely improved and more aggressive yet balanced in its execution. The interior is a drastic change and mostly a better place to live, but some weaknesses quickly become apparent, primarily in the driver's seat. Its position and available adjustments are lacking. Adjusted to my frame as in my last three Acuras, I find myself sitting abnormally low in this car. While I can raise the seat base, I then lose support under my thighs. It's just awkward feeling. The next issue is Acura's new infotainment system. Both the interface and the sound system itself, while quite different is simply not really an actual improvement over their previous tech. There is simply very little that is intuitive in using their new touchpad. And on the new ELS 3D sound system, while the overall sound is impressive, it simply does not produce the flawless and incredibly deep bass response that the previous ELS system delivered. The deletion of the rear deck mounted subwoofer is largely to blame here. The front doors, now the new home for the subs, vibrate annoyingly under-arm when music with heavy bass is played. Lastly is a features issue. Missing is the auto-wipers that were standard on my last A-Spec. A simple deletion on Acura’s part, but an odd omission for a previous owner buying the same trim of a new model. The long and short is that this new TLX is a really nice, impressive handling and quick car to drive. If not for my previous Acura experience I may not even nit-pick some of the things that I do. One last thing, updating this 4/1/2022: while the car has been growing on me overall, make sure to get it with SH-AWD! The power in this car is useless in FWD form. You can't put the power down even in the dry and it's pretty nearly horrible in the wet so if you are a spirited driver make sure to step up to the AWD version.

The Best TL/TLX Ever But With Inexcusable Flaws

This is my third Acura and it is by far the best. But a few annoying features prevent it from being what should be a "great car" for the money. For starters, I'm not a big fan of the "touch pad" for controlling vehicle navigation and functions. It lags and takes getting used to. Not user friendly vs. touch screen. Also, Acura should fire the graphic designer or engineer who decided on the fixed daytime map color scheme and use of small white text outlined in black on a light background. A real graphic design no-no. Furthermore, street route numbers are unreadable no matter how you adjust contrast and brightness. My 2010 Acura TL had five map color schemes that you could adjust to get the best viewing experience. The screen and text on my 2010 appeared larger and far more readable. But no worries - the 2021 Acura engineers give you many different colors to change your interior car accent lighting - but not the more important navigation map! Bad bad bad. I'm tempted to use the map's night color screen even during the day because it is more readable. Also, info text on the navigation screen is in smaller fonts than my 2010 TL. Text should be easily readable when driving.. Also, if you live in a region that gets snow, wet snow that collects on the Acura's front emblem where the camera is causes some safety features to be disabled. Living in the Chicago area, this happened several times. These flaws get in the way of a fabulous automobile. It looks great, rides and handles beautifully, is very comfortable, has plenty of pep for a heavy car with its four cylinder turbo and has an excellent sound system for the money. However, I expected the mileage to be better with the four cylinder and if I'd known, I'd have waited for the six cylinder turbo. Also, be prepared for smaller back seat space on this model. This is a great looking vehicle with a lot of bang for the buck versus the more expensive BMW and Lexus. I felt that shelling out another $5,000 was not in my budget. Acura...hope you have some updates to the navigation color choice schemes. It's sorely needed!

2021 TLX A-Spec is our 4th Acura, we previously have owned 2014 MDX Tech, 2013 TL Elite and 2005 TL. I've had 2021 TLX for 3 months with 2500km on it. My Likes : 1. Exterior Styling is great, love every angle 2. Handling is excellent, feels like it's on rails...better than 2013 TL which also had double wishbone. 3. ELS Audio System...it is awesome although not significantly better than 2013 TL or 2014 MDX. 4. Interior Styling. Modern & upscale materials & love the accent lighting. 5. Dynamic mode lets this car behave differently depending on my mood....aggressive vs. laid back. 6. Solid Braking. Areas to Improve : 1. To many gears. Shifts way too often as a result. I generally are driving in S transmission mode to get decent RPM before shifts, & only go into D transmission on highway for fuel economy. D Mode literally does 6 shifts in 10 seconds under normal throttle...the shifts are smooth but this is annoying and takes away from the driving experience. 2. Slightly underpowered for an Acura TLX that competes with other high end brands. Should definitely be 300+ HP and 300+lb_ft torque for car this heavy. Honda Accord 2.0 turbo is faster 0-100km. 3. Touchpad control system. Not a deal breaker, but not great. The multifunction dial on my 2013 TL, 2014 MDX was way better.

The new TLX Delivers

Shopped around extensively for my next car that will be utilized as a daily driver. I spend time in my car and I wanted an upgrade that gave me tech, comfort, and a bit of sport if I need it. Check all those boxes. I looked at the IS, the 3 series, A4, Q50 C class. For the money Acura delivers everything I wanted in very nicely appointed interior. I have had Acura's in the past and always was a fan. My last being a 2011 TL. Loved that car. On first glance in reviews and images online I was like meh with the new styling. Seeing it in person and sitting behind the wheel will give you a very different perspective. They did a fantastic job. Of course this is subjective. But it is unique in the space. Performance wise it does get up and move. However I preferred the previous V6 and its refinement. All these turbo 4's are the trend now. And Acura's iteration is certainly well done. Not a deal breaker for me. The infotainment system seems to be polarizing in many of the reviews I have read on this car. There is a learning curve but it takes all of about 10 minutes to get it and it works fine. Many have said they prefer a touch screen. I like this set up's positioning, which does not facilitate touch. It flows with the overall motif on the interior which I find unique and satisfying. All in all I am very happy I chose the new TLX. It has more room for a bigger guy like myself and gives you a lot of tech for the money. The SH-AWD system is fantastic. Reakkt the only thing I would like different is a V6. But again the turb 4 is not inadequate and moves this heavy sedan for its class along rather nicely. Rear seat accommodations are not the best which is odd considering the overall size of this car. So if that is important a crossover might be a better option. This car is not built for that requirement. It does what it does very well. It is unique (for now) and not ubiquitous like the 3 series, A4 etc...It gets looks. Very satisfied so far

Not a bad proposition... But....?

My initial experience with the TLX was a 2021 model I had purchased in September 2021. Tech Package with the SH-AWD. Great car. So great, it may have saved my life in an auto accident Christmas Eve, 2021. The car had no issues for the three and a half months I owned it. The SH-AWD was exceptional, as was the ride and sound system. Even fuel economy wasn't too bad with an avg. of 28 HWY on the car. I liked that car so much, this past April I purchased a 2022 A-Spec FWD model. Its enjoyable to drive, with a slightly firmer ride, ELS sound system with a few more speakers than the previous TLX an ventilated seats. HWY fuel economy is about 29 to 31, the only drawback being that it takes premium fuel like that previous TLX I had did. Build Quality on this particular unit was subpar to what I experienced on my first TLX. Puddle lights on the outside of BOTH driver and passenger mirrors have been replaced, as has the drivers airbag for a rattle, in addition to one of the seals on the B pillar that was either bad or not set correctly which was allowing the drivers window to make an occasional tapping noise during windy days on the hwy. Would I buy this car again? I did it once, but this second time owning this car has made me rethink my decision should I be faced with it again. Don't get me wrong, the Acura is a good looking car, nice features and retains quite a bit of value after 4 or 5 years, but quality problems that aren't easily addressed or resurface can be a drawback for wanting to re purchase a 47k car.

The biggest flaw I found after driving a 2021 TLX advance package was the Acura logo on the grill and all it controls. When this gets dirty or snowy none of your convenience/safety features function at all. Over all this car is absolutely astounding and a blast to drive and the sport mode is a blast, cant wait to see how the Type -S hanldles in comparison

If you are looking to drag race, then why are you shopping for a sedan. This car has so many standard features that the only reason to upgrade is for the fabulous blue. This car has a ton of pep and nice touches. I prefer the TLX over the grandpas Lexus and the dated Infiniti. Anything other than a lease and you can keep your German high maintenance fixes. Update: after a year I still enjoy the car but at 5000 miles it needed a new steering gear box. Warranty covered the $3200 repair. I can’t keep cars out of warranty for this exact reason. It used to be an engine or transmission were the expensive repairs, now everything is over $1000.

Horrendous Ride-Quality... Acura missed the mark

I didn’t need to own/lease this car to know very quickly what I would be in for in the long haul. The steering is sharp and responsive (especially with the SH-AWD), the powertrain delivers quick and strong acceleration, the driving position is quite comfortable, and the craftsmanship is far superior to the last generation TLX. However, and this is a BIG HOWEVER, for a (now) flagship sports sedan, the ride is unbearable. On New England city roads, this new TLX road so stiff, I thought I was in my colleague’s Ford Mustang... that’s how rough the ride was. Having leased a 1st-Gen TLX, and knowing how refined (albeit, less sporty) the ride was, there is no middle ground here. I recently drove an Audi A5 Sportback as well and that is the kind of ride I expected: tight but with some dampening, certainly never jarring. Considering the new TLX is actually more along the size of the Audi A7, I’m amazed how much worse that drove from the A5 and the old TLX. Another side note: the road noise from the tires was also worse on this 2nd-Gen than the 1st-Gen. Highly disappointed, as I had a GREAT lease deal on the table... I couldn’t pull the trigger. PLEASE, if you’re considering this car, make sure you’re test drive is not only on freshly-paved highways... request a back-road route as well!

Acura has always been close to my heart. Having owned 5+ Hondas/Acuras, I finally decided to see what Acura has been doing the last few months. I was looking at this model and the Lexus IS350 F sport. Before I get into my opinions about the TLX, I will add the deciding factors over the IS350. Lexus did a wonderful job on the new IS (exterior wise). The interior was quite lackluster. It’s literally the prior model year interior but with a bigger screen. I was disappointed that Lexus got lazy with the IS. I would’ve loved to see the interior fully redesigned like the exterior. Also the red seats on the Lexus weren’t as nice as the TLX. Price was also a deciding factor. The TLX was roughly $45k sticker while every IS I would find with the upgraded stereo system was upwards of $48k. I felt it was more bang for your buck. While yes Lexus had better reliability, I wanted something new both inside and out. Plus everyone has the new IS and not that many people have the TLX yet. Now onto the review. I had previously looked at the 2020 TLX last year and the interior was very outdated. It was a bit of a turn off considering how much I like Honda products. After the redesign I decided to check out the car and I will say although the 2.0 4 banger is fun, it just doesn’t beat a V6 feel. Me personally I think Acura took a step back by replacing the V6 engine...not saying the new 2.0 is horrible...it’s just not as responsive as I wished and it feels like a 4 cylinder. Aside from that, I loved all the angles of the exterior of the car. The redesign shows that Honda has a lot of potential for their luxury brand. I’ll start with the interior...they did a better job at making the cabin feel a lot less like a Honda and more like an Acura. I got the red leather seats in mine and the interior with red leather seats is absolutely beautiful! The interior ambient lighting gives you a lot of cool color options to chose from though I wish they would’ve continued the light strips to the back doors of the car. The screen is a good size but users beware...the pad used to maneuver the screen takes some getting used too. It’s definitely not perfect and for those who aren’t tech savvy, it will be annoying trying to learn the system. I kind of wish Honda went with a full digital screen for the tachometer...it’s a bit outdated still but wasn’t that big of a let down for me to hold me back from purchasing the car. The ELS 3D Audio system has a very nice kick to it, and the tech in the car is great for the price. Overall I feel like it’s a good value for your money. My only big complaint I have is they don’t offer remote start on the A-Spec package only on the app and it’s free for 3 months after that it’s a yearly fee. You would think at that price, the car would have something as cheap as remote start. Aside from that the cars comfortable, it’s very attractive (though the wheel design is a bit boring), and it shows Honda’s capable of making good products...I just wish they’d realize that sooner...I’m sure the car would’ve been a lot better had they not taken the Infiniti route and made okay cars the last few years. I’m glad to see Honda trying to revamp the Acura brand.

Ordered this vehicle TLX Type S from the dealership. Fit and finish are terrible. The car arrived with water sitting in the headlight. The headlight and tail light were out. The panel above the lights and in front of the hood was misaligned and had a broken mounting clip. The hood has a slight hump on the passenger side so the hood sits higher then the quarter panel along the reveal where the to panels meet. The bolts on the front quarter panels were starting to rust due to damaged paint and looked like they were adjusted after factory paint. The car hesitates when talking off. The car now has an Emissions System Problem error code and waiting to get into the dealer to find our what is wrong. Dealer still can't find what's throwing this code. Now, intermittently the infotainment system blacks out and says lost connectivity and completely reboots. The dealership said this won't leave a code so they would have to see it in person and it would have to happen on their watch. We have videos when it does this and they won't accept that, and neither will acura customer care. This is a known problem with previous years/models TSBs and they still won't address this.

I have owned a 2024 TLX Type S for three weeks now and couldn't be happier. I test drove an Audi RS-5, a Lexus LC 500 F Sport, and used to own and drive an M-5. The TLX Type -S provides almost the same driving thrill and more comfort than all three. It is beautiful inside and out. It's a winner!

I am a long time Acura fan and just traded a 2020 RDX for a TLX A-Spec a month ago. I love the styling inside and out as well as the long list of standard features that you pay dearly for on other so called luxury brands. The car drives very well on various road surfaces and provides a comfortable ride while still being capable of impressive handling. Fit and finish is top notch along with high quality materials inside and the seats are truly excellent. And then there's the incredible ELS stereo system. I have only two complaints, the first being the lack of rear seat legroom and the second being the motor. It's the same 4 cylinder turbo I had in my RDX and while it provides adequate power for daily driving, it lacks in character and real performance. With the A-Spec package the car look fast standing still but it doesn't come close to providing the thrill I get when I drive my Genesis G70 3.3 Sport. I realize the Type S would be more comparable to my G70 and would cost about the same, but another 30 horsepower would add greatly to the driving pleasure. Regardless the new TLX is a big step forward and I am very happy with the car.

As others have noted the styling is much sportier than the outgoing TLX, but the transmission doesn't live up to those lofty standards. Off the line pep seemed adequate until I drove a neighbor's Accord sport, and it definitely had more get up and go than the TLX. The TLX in lower gears shifts quickly to redline and gets underway, but in highway passing the gears are spaced too for apart (or there are just too many). The interior is nicely laid out and the ELs system is good for a $50k car. For those that think this is a premium sound system, please hop in a Lexus with the Mark Levinson system or a BMW with a Harman Kardon, no comparison. This car isn't a straight line burner, but the new suspension and SH-AWD do wonders keeping the car flat in corners. My review is really based on Acura marketing this car as a sports sedan, which I think is a mistake and why I only give it 3 stars. It isn't a sports sedan. A BMW 340i or even an Alfa Giulia are sports sedans in this class. The new TLX is an entry level sedan and is very good at being that, but if you market a car to me as something else I am going to grade you based on how it was described to me. Update: I've got 10k miles on my TLX and I have to mention the seats are not comfortable for long trips. The side bolstering is to prominent for an average size individual. Also, as one other reviewer has mentioned the wireless charging pad is useless. It doesn't stay connected and I've tried on my iPhone and Android devices.

2021 Base TLX: Not my cup of tea

My 2020 TLX was at a local dealer undergoing some minor work having to do with lane keep sensors. They gave me a 2021 Base TLX to rent to drive for a few days. The positives: Great new styling inside and outside. Interior has great graphics from the infotainment and interior materials have improved. Exterior the car is lower and wider with a clean modern look. HOWEVER it didn't take long for me to take pause. Compared to my 2020 2.4 tech, the ride is jarring. I literally feel every bump on the road. Entry level luxury sedan? I don't think this so. This is my number one deal breaker. Second, the 2.0 turbo engine is loud and sounds coarse befitting a luxury car. The minimal difference in speed from my 2020 2.4 tech package for me isn't worth it. Finally I found the original sticker badge for my 2020 base TLX rental the dealer let me drive. For over $43,000 this car rode rough that prevented me from using it as a daily driver, sounded coarse and loud and the base infotainment didn't even have carplay or android auto!! What a mess. Think hard and long before you buy unless you can live with its faults. In comparison the previous gen TLX was a dream to drive, sounded refined and cost less! What are you doing Acura???

I’ve owned many Acura’s in the past however in the last 10 years I have gotten away from them due to build quality, looks and lack luster performance. My last Acura that I really enjoyed was a 2005 RSX Type S. I recently purchased a 2022 TLX Type S and after a month of driving this car, it has brought a smile back to my face. The adaptive/double wishbone suspension is extremely WELL balanced. SH AWD is the BEST in class, torque vectoring is a TRUE mechanical feature that makes this thing corners better than that Ultimate Driving Brand, the LOOKS, OMG and with the Tiger Eye Pearl color, it attracts many inquisitive busy bees. Critics constantly compare these cars to the wrong German rivals. It should be in direct competition with BMW M340i, Audi S5 and MERC AMG C43 of course with Acura taking the advantage over pricing, reliability, and longevity. I live in North Georgia where typical driving encompasses curvy, twisty, and mountainy roads not tracking or drag racing. This car is much more fun in that category. On long road trips, even in the most aggressive driving mode the Type S WILL NOT beat you up like others. On my wish list, if Acura can take the underpowered, overrated, and overpriced PMC edition loose some pounds, add about 45 more ponies, heads up display along with an all-digital display I guarantee ALL automakers would go back to the drawing boards. Remember the 1991 NSX that made Ferrari go back and think things over? Come on Acura you introduced to us the FIRST Japanese luxury line, make your Brand undeniable like say Apple?

Overall, the TLX Sport is a fun car to drive and it has many of the amenities.that have characterized this car model in the past. Exception is the computer mouse pad that is used to identify and change radio stations. It is difficult to operate while driving. The distraction in trying to change radio stations. especially using the satellite Sirus XM, makes this a negative. It lacks the ease of use that I was accustomed to in the 2015 TLX model that I drove until I purchased this new model. I was also unhappy in Acura's decision to eliminate the AM radio. Now if I am on the road when The Chicago Bears are playing, I have to listen to the game on a small portable AM radio. That is a ridiculous solution for a new car whiuch supposedly has all the new and updated electronics expected in a 2023 car.

Infomational system is great, handling is good being able to change from modes with the Dynamic knob is easy. Great stereo system. Seats are comfortable. Only one safety feature that can occasionally be annoying is when it thinks your leaving a lane that steering wheel shakes to alert you. Sometimes during construction its constant due to lanes being adjusted during work. Overall..Love it.

This car is fun to drive. I went wild and chose the Performance Red. Gorgeous, great looking car. No complaints there. I have not had any recalls or mechanical issues. I chose a Honda/Acura for the reliability. I would say so far that is holding true but I've only owned the car for 7 months. This car was to be an upgrade from my 2013 Chevy Malibu which I loved! I've never owned a Honda so maybe the issues that rub me wrong are already well known. Or maybe I'm a princess?!! I read the reviews, rating, pros and cons. That con about the infotainment system is no joke. God awful and unsafe. I had to start wearing glasses to see the screen. The touch pad requires a lot of attention. The radio only allows for 6 favorite preset channels. You do end up using the touch pad a lot more than you think. I am not a Siri user. I do not want my car hooked up as one with my phone. I do have the technology package and it definitely makes that hard to not accomplish. I am a radio/music person and this set up makes me cry. Hate it!! Not to mention me just getting with the times and all the beeping and screaming the car does. I then came to find out I do not have remote start. WHAT!? a $48k car doesn't come with remote start? I live in cold winters and this is unacceptable to me. Had to talk my husband into adding. Next, the wind shield wipers. Another unsafe situation here. The wipers are tucked down under the hood. Sure looks nice, but they collect ice and snow. Guess what, you can't clean them off. You can't pull them up to wipe off because they hit the hood edge. The defrost does not reach them either. They sit in a pocket collecting weather. So mid snow storm I have a lot of freeze/icy wiper moments. I asked in an Acura group and someone mentioned a heat pad for the wipers. Guess what, again this model doesn't come with it. How does the high/mid level TLX not have any of this standard stuff? My mind just explodes left and right with the lack of basics this car doesn't have for such a price tag. My Eco Malibu had all these "bells and whistles" and ran forever. Really makes me sad and I do not enjoy the car like I want to. If you're a car person and those items aren't a thing for you, then this is your car. Drives wonderfully!

Doesn't Live Up To The Looks

MZ, 02/27/2025
2023 Acura TLX Type S 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A)
1 of 1 people found this review helpful

Had my 2023 TLX Type S for 2 years. Fun car to drive, would describe it as quick, not fast but quick. It had the performance wheel and tire package and ordered it with just about every accessory that you could add. While the car looked fantastic and didn't have major mechanical issues there were a few things just drove me crazy. The door locks started to fail in year 2 and would make a noise when locked and unlocked until the driver door lock started to fail. The dealer only replaced the failed lock mechanism while the others were still making the noise but not failed yet. No spare tire unless you ordered it, the car should be standard run flats if you don't have a spare, get stranded once and you will understand. Also the summer tires are nice but last about 15K miles and are expensive to replace. the tire size and style is only found on a few exotics so tire prices are pretty bad. Rear seat space is a joke in this car, it is a 4 door sedan and the rear seat space is so limited. Along with that fact is that the front seats are so deep, these could have easily been produced to be slimmer and given a couple extra inches to the rear leg room. The biggest issue was with the vehicle safety systems. The front collision sensor is so sensitive that you would be cruising down the highway and the vehicle would start slowing down a huge distance behind someone before you even think to change lanes even on the lowest distance setting, along with the fact that it would pick up vehicles in other lanes and start to slow down if you were passing them. If a car was turning in front of you it would also pick up that vehicle and slam the brakes thinking you were going to hit it. I don't follow people that close and almost got hit once because the car slammed on the brakes. Safety is one thing, but this is just about ridiculous how sensitive it was. Overall I enjoyed driving the vehicle, it was great to look at, and fun to drive but the technology issues that get in the way of driving the car just ruined the experience.

Car is brand new and after going to two different dealers. Complaining to the dealerships, managers etc. I had to open a case with America Honda. They referred me to a new dealership. Finally after the fourth time taking the car in for service because the brakes are from hell. Makes a awful screeching sound. Come to find out there’s a manufacturer defect on the rotors. They are reglazing them and totally covered by American Honda. But, let me tell you the time and effort this took to get to here. Was painful!!!! They denied me each time with a loaner car. Let’s see if the problem persists! Be aware …. This model isn’t worth the hassle

The looks of the car is great even through the hood is long and wide. I can't stand that the car is nothing more than an oversized 2 seater with just enough room in the back seat for a child under 7 years of age with no car seat.. Gas mileage is horrendous as I get better gas mileage with my Civic type R. I guess most of the problem the cost and because its too heavy to not be as quiet as the 2016 Lexus Gs 350 f sport that this car replaced.when a female hit me and totaled my car when she was speeding in her car. Cheap interior hard plastic throughout the inside of the car if you have kids look elsewhere. The 25 's are the same with only minor changes to the outside no rear seat space has been addressed.

I have had an Acura chillax all-wheel-drive advanced model just a little over two weeks. The car has already died two times requiring a jump. First time dealer said they replace the battery second time it is in the shop being investigated. Very concerned about this issue is the car has only been on for two weeks that has less than 300 miles on it.

Great car. There are issues with charging, and Hands Free use and IPhone 12. My phone charges okay. Hands Free feature is fraught with issues. Our dealer advises that the issues are directly related to the IPhone 12. Subsequently, I have discovered that the Hands Free issues are quickly resolved by periodically doing a “Hard Reset” of my IPhone, a very simple, quick procedure.
