BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

2021 Acura ILX 4dr Sedan w/Premium Package (2.4L 4cyl 8AM)

This car comes with a lot of features that other cars don’t come close to having in this price range. If your looking for a small, nice, luxury commuter this is the right car for you. Dealer also took a big loss selling me this one, sales were very slow. The DCT transmission for this car is just phenomenal I truly am lost for words about the driving experience. It is very impressive for what it’s set out to be. Acura is if not more as reliable as Lexus and Toyota, but Acura’s are made for performance and precision. Toyotas are slow compared to this thing. I would definitely take a look at this car if you’re in the market.

I bought the Aspec for $33,000 it was worth every penny. I really don’t understand why some are saying it’s an ok car? It has good power, great safety features, great looks and awesome reliability! Any other in its class is $10,000 to $15000 more!

My Opinion: Great Value, Great Car

2022 Acura ILX 4dr Sedan w/Premium and A-Spec Packages (2.4L 4cyl 8AM)

I just purchased a 2022 Acura ILX Premium w/Aspec. And so far, I love it. At the current MSRP of approximately $32,000, it is a great value. I test drove a few cars around this price, but didn’t find one that I liked more. I get a new car every 5 years because of how much I need to drive for work, so I can’t justify spending more than 32k on a car. Otherwise I would have considered the Audi A4 or BMW 330i. The ILX is fast enough and plenty comfortable. At 201 HP and an 8 speed dual clutch transmission, it moves pretty quick. 0-60 is approximately 6.5 seconds which makes getting onto a highway pretty fun. The seats aren’t quite as comfortable as my wife’s MDX, but with 8-way adjusting and lumbar support, you can get it to just where you want it to be. And the headrest fells like a pillow. The front is definitely a place you can comfortably spend several hours in. The back however, while still comfortable, is a little small. My kids have no problem back there, but an adult might start feeling a little cramped on a longer ride. The dual screen infotainment system may be a turn off for some, but I love it. It’s super easy to use and very responsive. As a person who uses the AppleCarPlay GPS for work, it’s nice to have that on the top screen while my music is still displayed on the lower screen. As for the exterior, I highly recommend going with one of the Aspec trims. The extra sporty touches that the Aspec gives you makes it a very attractive car without going overboard. The LED day running lights have a stylish design as does the LED tail lights. Acura’s individual jewel headlights are also a very nice look. I obviously can’t speak for reliability yet, but it’s Acura. Which is Honda. So I’m sure it will be great and cheap to fix IF ever needed. So if you’re looking for entry level luxury that won’t hurt your wallet, I highly recommend the 2022 Acura ILX Premium w/Aspec.

Excellent car, particularly for the price!

An excellent car - top notch performance and looks. Even with the fully upgraded packages, still cheaper than other entry level luxury car base models with no upgrades (Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Audi). Great entry level luxury car for the price. Infotainment system is outdated and could look better - my one con.

Great value "Premium" compact sedan but not luxury

2020 Acura ILX Premium and A-SPEC Packages 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 8AM)

The Acura ILX from the outside looks really good and IMO is more stylish and premium looking than an Audi A3, but as soon as you get into it you start tor realize this is based on the chintzy 9th gen Honda Civic. Now Acura has done a decent job of dressing up the 9th gen Civic, but at this point the ILX needs to be built on the next gen Civic platform in order to full compete in the luxury market. The lack of hood struts, reused cheap plastic parts from the Civic, hollow door sound, no Dynamic modes, stiff ride, and bellow average space make this car a little hard to recommend even against a current gen Civic. Well that is until you realize that this car is a terrific value which allows younger buyers or people on a budget to experience a "luxury" brand. Also, while the car doesn't throw you back into your seat since it still uses a naturally aspirated 4cyl engine, the K24 engine is rock solid in terms of reliability and the built in house 8 speed DCT shifts very quickly and always seems to be in the right gear. I recommend getting at least the Premium trim since that is where real Milano leather is used, 2 driver position memory for seats and side mirrors, passenger 4 way power seat with lumbar, automatic rearview dimming mirror, Premium audio, XM radio, HD radio, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Text/email alerts, 8" screen, Homelink, Blind Spot, and rear traffic alert start at and it's only $2000 more than the Base version. Now if you want to add more style and Premium feel to your ILX the A-SPEC package is a great choice but for the ILX it's mainly cosmetic touches besides the LED fog lights and the slightly wider tires. I would recommend skipping the Tech package all together since the only notable upgrades are the ELS audio which isn't noticeably better than the Premium audio and the severely outdated GPS that looks like it was ripped from a 1995 Garmin. With the 2021 version of the ILX probably being it's last year until it get refreshed or even gets axed all together you can find some terrific deals. In May 2020 we bought my wife a 2020 Acura ILX Premium A-SPEC for $26K and change while the MSRP is $31625 w/ destination. For the money the ILX is really hard to beat, yes it's not a luxury sedan that can compete with an Audi A3, Mercedes A Class, and in some ways lacks the features and ride of even the current gen Civic, but for what we paid we got a car that should last many years with a very low cost of ownership.
