Hello all - its now 22 days since I took delivery of my new Silver 3.0 V6 Tdi Phaeton and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Having owned many BMW's over the years , we currently have a 2005 525d Touring, this car is VW's well kept secret. I have had so many people ask what it is and of course unlike the BMW it ... Update--Phaeton 3600 miles
Written by: pji44 on Sep 21, 2005 9:36:47 AM
Still love it--no issues, except gas mileage and brake dust which I expected. Received a notice that dealers are getting 2006 Phaetons in (some already have). So much for the death sentence. Also, VW sent me a phone to use with the $299 phone option on the 2005 models. I haven't been opened it yet but apparently it's a Nokia phone which will be totally integrated. I'll report after I put ... Read More

"OnStar" Safe & Sound is standard equipment on the 2005 PHAETON, and includes 30 Free minutes of Hands Free phone service...additional minutes are available thru "OnStar" for various rate pkgs. No special phone is required...everything is built in. Your Blackberry should have a hands free, Bluetooth kit available thru your T-Mobile dealer...I know Cingular has one for my Motorola Razr... Thank you for your prompt reply - Precise and informative as usual! Regarding the lease, is it true that better lease terms are about to be introduced for the 2005 models? I think someone else on the forum mentioned September 6 as the date for the new lease terms. Re the analog phone amp in the current model, two questions: 1) is this standard or extra-cost option on the 2005 V8? ... Read More

Hello vwguild, I have been following the phaeton forum for a while, and appreciating your wisdom especially. Here's my situation: I have been researching the Phaeton and test-drove it against the A-8: I happen to like the Phaeton better *if*, and only if, I can get the price low enough to compensate for the much faster depreciation. I have never leased before, and typically prefer to finance over a long time ... Read More

That was then, November 2004; this is now, September 2005. In 2004 VWAG sent over more PHAETONs than VWOA wanted; so by Q4 2004 we had PHAETONs in the various Ports around the country and needed to find homes for them because 2005s were enroute...Volkswagen of America offered the Dealers here some fantastic incentives to take these cars...As a matter of fact, I would have taken more if I knew the ... VW Guild..thanks. I really love the car based on my first 4 days of ownership. I called the Phaeton Customer Care line (877)742-3866 and asked about the phone set up. They were very helpful and said the car with this option was built for 3 NOKIA phones, models 6360, 6340i and 6310i. All are discontinued. The customer rep told me they are actively and currently looking for a replacement option for ... Read More

Phaeton lease deal? Did I do a good job or what? Let me know
Written by: italia233 on Jul 5, 2005 11:21:33 PM
Hi guys and gals. I'm new to the forum. I have been actively browsing the forum for about a month or so and have found it quite informative during my research for a new car lease that I will be getting into sometime this month. I went down to my local vw dealer to play some hardball and see what kind of deal I could get on a new phaeton since ... Read More

New car Dilemma (VW Guild)
Written by: peteri44 on Jun 22, 2005 12:39:50 PM
Had a 2002 A8L that I loved (leased). I moved and had to to take the train to work so the A8L was seldom used. I switched to an 04 A62.7 S-lIne, a nice car (not an A8) that I drive infrequently as I pedal my 99 Ranger Pick-Up to the train station. Now I'm taking a new job with the need for a bigger car again with a 60 mile ... Read More

Peter, So far does it seems that the Phaeton will sell at about the same pace in 2005 as it did in 2004? I wish I had waited and bought a WHITE 2005 with cell phone. It just makes me angry VW didn't make accomodations (even retrofit) for a phone on the 2004s. Based on what I know, it would be cheaper to trade in and get a 2005 than to ... Read More

Re: Phaeton buy? [murphdog]
Written by: paldi on Dec 22, 2004 3:40:38 PM
The 2004s are difficult to find because there arn't very many 2005s here yet either. Supply is drying up as the smaller VW dealers hesitate to stock them. Sure, they'll Order one for a customer, but what about trying to Sell one if there's nothing in the showroom to demo? Maybe they expect you to test drive a Toureg and buy a Phaeton if you were impressed?

The 2004 Phaeton's Msrp can immediately be reduced by $10000.00 because VW is giving the dealers that kickback right off the top. In addition to that, you probably can get an additional rebate of $8000.00 that the dealer was probably going to discount anyway because of the fact they want it off of there showroom floor. Because it has 834 miles on it, I would push then for a total of ... Read More

Profile of a new Phaeton driver

First Post. (I actually posted message 1009, but it was pulled when I asked to change my forum name.) Just received a Phaeton that was ordered in April. I requested the 4-seat option which is produced in lower quantities, so I had to wait. As it turns out, that pushed my car into the 2005 group, so the wait was probably a good thing. I like the new wheel design. To ... Read More

The Touareg & The PHAETON...
Written by: vwguild2 on Jul 11, 2004 11:10:18 AM
are both in place for one primary purpose...to make VW a complete car company...nothing knee jerk about it. Prior to their introductions a loyal VW fan/customer was forced to leave the brand if she/he wanted an SUV or an automobile of the PHAETON's caliber. And the PHAETON was never intended to compete with the A8. Historically, and this is well documented, fewer than 4% crossshop the two brands...surprising, yet true. Additionally, ... Read More

Just curious to know what the group here thinks about some of the new luxury debuts at Detroit. It appears that Audi is going to step to the major leagues with the new A8L 6.0 W12 by the end of the year, it will priced around 115K. Yikes! Double yikes because the Phaeton W12 (10hp less btw) is priced at 88K. On paper it makes the Audi version look like a ... Read More

Sales trends - I agree completely. It's a up and down thing. If you look at it the S-Class should dive this year, with a new A8, Phaeton and XJ, plus the revised LS, and the still somewhat new 7-Series on hand. Mercedes' marketing maching is so well-oiled though and they gave the S a new trans and 4Matic to keep things fresh until that faithful day in 2005 when it ... Read More
