Hey John, I've had the same thing happen to me but I find it's only when the wheels are turned hard backing out. You put it in drive, press the accelerator and she doesn't respond until you start to straighten the wheel, then, it jumps forward and you have to hang on tightly and quickly release the gas pedal. I'm still dealing with my acceleration problem where I slow to enter ... Read More
want to add to my previous post that there is a big difference in how reasonable the "wait and see" approach is in buyers' consideration of these two vehicles. namely: the Grand Cherokee (Jeep itself, more broadly) has a well-founded/deserved reputation for poor quality stretching back many, many years. every mention of Jeep on this sub-forum has come with that caveat and commensurate hesitation, and the professional auto reviewers never fail ... Here is sharing an unpleasant discovery upon finally getting around to rotating the tires on my 2010 purchased last December. The spare is on a cheap steel wheel that does not even come close to matching the other four aluminum wheels. Worse yet, it omits the pressure sensor and transmitter that keeps the low tire pressure alert system from signalling a problem. With the spare tire effectively unusable on a regular ... Read More

Which is a better car to buy Michelle
Thank you for replying and sharing your story. My experience has been that expressing concern about SUA in the 4Runner is not well-received in certain circles. You said it was a loaner vehicle. Does that mean they were loaned from the same physical location? If so, that alone would seem to explain the proximity of those two events. Second drivers and passengers were killed in resulting accident. I wish I ... Read More
That's interesting. Shielding could be an issue but that implies that Toyota would have made changes at some point with regard to shielding and that no other manufacturer would have made similar changes. You said it was a loaner vehicle. Does that mean they ... Read More

Toyota is typically ridiculously high on their leases. Car Man was trying to explain why. Partly it's because of their high money factors, usually .00250, and partly due to the fact that they don't allow most options to be residualized. That 4Runner may have $7500 in options but only $1000 is able to be counted towards residual value. In other words.....BUY IT.

Just to be clear, we already own a 2009 Sienna LE. Didn't get the AWD, scared of run flat tires. Thanks for all your comments, and keep up the discussion on the attributes of various AWD/4WD systems, this is a good read.
Has Toyota fixed the problem of excessive rusting of truck frames in salty northern states that was most publicized in truck models up to 2004, but I assume affected SUV's as well. Am in MI & ready to buy 2010 4Runner I'd like to drive for a few years.
You will not be able to get anyting until late February or March. Toyota Does not have anything available. I already checked with Aries and Westin these are their release dates Feb. or March; they are in fabrication, but still have not made production. You might want to drag your feet a little if you are worried about cracked or scratched bumper. Leave your receiver/ball or bike rack in the hitch ... Read More
I have the generic metal oil filter grabbing tool, but I went to Wal-mart and purchased the SST (FRAM brand 65mm 14 flutes) for under $4.00 which is a hard plastic (the more expensive one is metal). I have not used it yet, but I did find the torque settings for the oil change (after I had to correct multiple times Toyota Customer Support providing me the incorrect info for the ... Read More
I just purchased, from the Toyota dealer, two oil filter elements for my new 4runner. Have not got under the car yet, but the instructions on the side of the filter box say "tighten cap to torque indicated on Cap top surface with SST" (SST = special service tool). Presume that means there are some torque specs that become visible when the piece is taken off. Further down on the side ... Read More
The Third row seat isn't as tight in the new 4Runner as it is in the Rav4. But from experience the 2009 Sienna would be a much better choice with three kids. I am a Toyota Rent a Car Manager @ Turner Toyota Rent a Car in Colorado. I have had all of the Toyota's you mentioned in my fleet. I work with alot of people, who are repeat customers of ... Can someone please give their opinion on the third row of the 2010 4Runner, for instance, its too tight, impossible to get to, pointless? For instance, on the 2010 RAV4 third row it looks like Toyota moves the second row up, making all back rows miserable. Looks like Chicagoland won't get 4Runners with third row. Looking at Pilot, Outback, HL, Venza or 4Runner to replace the 2002 Forester because its getting ... Read More
I bought a 2010 4Runner Limited last week in Mississippi. They could not get running boards for me (Mississippi Toyota dealers order their car and parts inventory from Gulf States Toyota, one of the two remaining Toyota Distributors). I checked locally here in Mobile, AL (Alabama Toyota dealers order their car and parts inventory from Southeast Toyota, the other remaining Toyota distributor). One local dealer had running boards in stock and ... Read More
Hry Guys: All Canadian version of 2010 4Runners come with running board. They look identical to FJ running boards (my brother has one). I think they are installing the same one. After all they share the same platform. If not, call Toyota canada toll free.
i'm not sure this is legal but those that think there is a lack of interest need to check out http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs-its-finally-here/ and hear from those that have purchased the new model. you may be surprised if all you have seen is a lot of the negativity on this board.
I was able to get 18MPG in the 1st tank from a dealer's low 6.7MPG when I took possesion of it. Now on my 2nd tank (around 400 miles in ODO) and computer AVG shows an amazing 22MPG mixed C/H miles. Wow, what an amazing vehicle, great job Toyota, you did it again!!!
I am the current owner of an awesome 2010 4Runner V6 LTD 4WD with NAV and have been very happy with it so far after the first 400 miles. This is my 3rd 4Runner and it is by far the best 4Runner I have ever owned in terms of ergonomics, comfort and space, etc... Just for the record, I am in the 2nd tank and my current MPG (after resetting the ... Read More
The decision was easy for me as soon as Toyota announced no V8 in the 2010 4Runner. The new 4Runner is bigger, heavier, and more expensive with only a V6. It doesn't have near the HP and torque. I needed the 4WD for snow and the V8 to tow 5200 lbs in mountains. And the gas mileage is the same or better with the Kia. The Borrego has exceeded my expectations ... Read More
