nq94, I have an old Haynes Repair Manual for Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest, models 1993 thru 2001. Most of the stuff on it is for model years like yours. It costs something like $15 and is available at places like Pep Boys. It might help you see with more clarity what you got under the hood and also maintenance schedules.
Actually we have been a Nissan fan for some years. Let's see, Had a 1991 Maxima, then 1993 Sentra, then 1996 Pathfinder, then a 2004 Maxima in 2004, then we down sized for a 2000 maxima. When we found out that we were expecting our first baby, we upgraded to a 2005 Nissan Murano in 2008, then realized, that we didn't need an SUV so down sized I guess to a ... Read More
Finally, we get a Quest that's made in Japan!!! The first generation was a joint venture between Nissan and Ford with mixed success. The last generation, Tennessee-made model was disappointingly nothing like the 'Quest Concept' Nissan teased us with--and it generated mediocre reliability ratings from Consumer Reports. This one is gorgeous, as it follows along the same styling lines as the current and previous JDM Nissan ElGrand. I love it! I ... Read More
New Quest owner here. My last new Nissan was in 1993... it has been a while! I am wondering which after market DVD system you have been happy with and does not have wires hanging everywhere. I believe the car is WIRED for the DVD as an option to add at the dealership, but I did not want to pay retail for 5 years on the Panasonic one. Any experiences you ... Read More
I would definitely go for one with side airbags, if not side-curtain airbags. The Honda Odyssey, beginning with the 2002 model year, had standard side airbags but not the curtains. (one major reason I bought the 2002 versus the 2001) The curtain airbags were standard in all Odysseys starting with the redesigned 2005 models. The Sienna I am not so sure but I'm pretty sure that side curtain airbags were available ... Read More
I used to own a 2004 Nissan Quest. I encountered just about all the possible problems anyone could possibly have with any vehicle. I can't believe my trade in, a 1993 Nissan Maxima, and my 2004 Quest were actually manufactured by the same company. How a company could produce 2 vehicles that span the entire spectrum of quality is beyond belief, but that was over an 11 year period and ownership ... Read More
1993 Nissan Quest 191000 miles Paul, I've been encountering a similar problem. I just purchased this vehicle recently and have noticed lately there is a squeeling noise at low speeds (i.e. while parking or stopped). If it is the power steering pump, I've priced one at Advance Auto for $158.88 with free shipping. Does anyone else know of a vendor that would be cheaper than that for a reman. pump? Also, ... I have a 1993 nissan quest and kind of had similar problems, I had the fuel pump changed out and now it starts right up every time. The mechanic told me that something in the fuel pump was clogged or something.
Up until 2002 the Nissan Quest was the same thing as a Mercury Villager. In 2004 Nissan went solo.
Isn't the Nissan Quest the same as a Mercury Villager?
Just returned from a 460 miles round trip to milwaukee, wisconsin....the Van consistantly got 27 MPG all highway driving. Not to bad for a van with 190,000 miles! love my van! looks great, runs great! very little work ever done to it except minor repairs! definately would recommend buying a nissan! :)
1993 Nissan Quest. Four-ways work, blinkers work, third brake light works, tail lights work, rear brake light will not work when the brake pedal is depressed. I checked the brake switch and checked to see if power goes to the brake switch. Both checked out ok. Why won't the brake lights work? Thanks
Although the size has increase so much, a few neat features did not carry over to the 2004+ model! - flip-open tailgate window - 2nd row flip-out quarter windows that's outdated but that is the minimal, ody, sienna, mpv offer scroll-down 2nd row I would say that nissan should work on this: 1. shiftable "Center Console" that can be shiftable from the center to "regular" position 2. Scroll-down 2nd row window, ... Read More
This is my second time to post about our 2004 Quest. We got the Quest in June, and due to the slow sales it was an early model. It had a few rattles in one door, but an adjustment fixed that. It had the AM radio problem, and the dealer added a new cable per the service bulletin. This was an extensive job requiring taking apart the dash. However, they got ... Read More
By posting this question on the Nissan Quest board, you are likely to get some biased answers. Check out the "modelX" vs "modelY" discussions for lots more feature-by-feature opinions. My story: Drove an '86 Aerostar (with stick shift manual!) from 1986 - 1993. Kept that van in the family until about '97. Drove a '93 Quest from 1993 until last October. Still have it and try to drive it once a ... Read More
Thanks for the two posts offering additional info about the (possible) middle seat interference with the front seats. I most definitely had trouble with this, but I will concede that it is possible it was my own error: perhaps the middle seat was not all the way down? Still, there was interference; my wife confirms this. We've pretty much decided against the Quest now. When we finally saw one with leather, ... Read More
We (as of 3/3/03) have a family of four and we desperately need a van as we are now living out of compact sedans. I am seriously looking at the Ody EXL-RES or the Sienna XLE-DVD. However, I am a little turned off by the Ody as it is now a 5 year old model and we will probably drive our new van for about 8 years which is well past ... Read More
Fram oil filters: If you check the Edmunds newsgroups on other Nissan products, you will find that Fram and several other oil filters (including Nissan's filter -- apparently made by Fram) have seem to have leaky anti-drain back valves. Result: your valves clatter on cold start after the car sits overnight. If you use Purolator, Mobil, or A/C Delco, this rarely happens. (Therefore there's less time with the engine running 'dry' ... I have a a 1993 Nissan quest van ( 234,000 kms now ) that has an intermittent problem when I am driving along the highway . At aprox 110 -120 KPH and the revs are aprox 2400 ram I push down on the gas pedal slowly , nothing happens and suddenly the revs jump up to over 3000 ram and the van accelerates Also if the revs are about 2700 you ... Our 1993 Nissan had 35,000 miles on it when we bought it used in 1997. It now has nearly 70,000 miles on it now. The problem is it has trouble getting over hills or even accelerating. We have gotten conflicting reports of what we should expect of an engine in this year of van and that the next year they put a bigger engine in the Quest. The EGR or ERG ... Read More
We recently purchased a 1993 Nissan Quest.
