What is the Honda Pilot?
Redesigned for the 2023 model year, the fourth-generation Honda Pilot is the biggest SUV offering from the company. With three rows of seating and a spacious interior, the Pilot has become a favorite for Honda loyalists with growing families. Given the recent makeover, we don't expect any major changes for the 2024 Honda Pilot.
Honda made some solid improvements to this generation, giving the Pilot boxier, more SUV-appropriate styling and stretching the SUV for more interior space. It's powered by a 3.5-liter V6, now with 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Honda also swapped the nine-speed automatic in place of a 10-speed. Like its smaller Passport sibling, the Pilot now has a TrailSport trim, equipped to better handle off-road duty. The TrailSport, which arrived for 2023, brings a 1.1-inch-taller ride height, thicker skid plates, and unique tuning for the all-wheel-drive system.
The new Pilot faces off against two of our favorite midsize three-row SUVs, the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. While the Honda doesn't have quite as classy of an interior as those models, its more practical design could be enough to sway many families.
