We own a 2006 S2000 and other Honda & Acura cars. I suggest you test drive the S2000 and the Z, or whatever you are comparing, over a portion of your daily commute. When I walk into the garage every morning, I start smiling in anticipation of the morning commute in the S2000 with top down. At about half way to work, I try to convince myself to continue to work ... Read More
Habitat1, Enjoyed your comments about the S2000 and the inclusion of the 911S in the discussion. As you may remember from my participation on this forum several months ago, I own a 2006 997S and have an eye on the S2000. My interest in the S2000 has increased since I learned it's being discontinued. The attractive current price has stimulated my appetite as well. I contacted several dealers last week and ... Been skimming through this thread and wanted to add a bit of my own experience in general, not really in response to any one post. I've driven the Z and the S, not the Sky. I think just based on the specifications of each car, it should be obvious how each will drive. The Z is going to be a brute with a lot of torque that tappers off by redline ... Read More
Hi accelerator. Yes, the first thing that you should do on a vehicle that you are interested in leasing is negotiate an attractive selling price. Vehicles' residual values are based upon their full MSRPs, including the destination charge and any factory installed options. I am not sure if Honda Finance allows the dealer-installed options to be residualized. The capitalized cost for your lease is whatever price you negotiate. If I was ... Read More
Hey Dwynne, I know you and I have been chatting regularly here so I wanted to run this by you.... Two scenarios 1) 2003 Red S2000 with less than 3000 miles and is in pristine condition with an asking price of $23,999. I can probably get them to come down 500 but I imagine that would be it. 2) 2006 Laguna Blue with less than 4500 miles and it too is ... Read More
Hi rd1ofakind. Honda made some revisions to its incentive program for the month of April. Unfortunately it did not introduce a special lease on the 2007 S2000, but it did introduce $2,000 dealer cash on it. Make sure to use this cash to your advantage when negotiating the capitalized cost of the S2000 that you are interested in. Honda was running a special lease on the 2006 S2000 in May 2006. ... I went to trade in my 2006 S2000 for the 2007 model, they told me that 2006 was the last year for the S2000, I instead bought a 2007 Accord (which I am still kicking myself in the butt for). The next day I went online and saw the 2007 S2000. I tried to undo my trade only one day later but the San Antonio Honda Dealorship wouldn't let me.
"How do you like the Musiclink?" Musiclink w/ the Honda TTS Software is pretty cool. The software allows you to search for music by Playlist, Artist, Genre, & Album using text to speech commands over the radio. Choose your mode, then listen for a category, and then select it. 10x better than just a plain old Aux in IMHO. "Also - tell me about the hardtop - are you glad you ... Read More
Khanderton - You're absolutely right - Scott Honda did have a silver (now mine!) and a black leftover '06 s2000. We have been very pleased with Scott Honda - have bought a 2004 CRV, 2006 CRV, 2006 Civic and now the 2006 s2000 there. It sounds like you got a great deal. How do you like the Musiclink? I have heard mixed opinions about its usefulness, but I've been thinking about ... Read More
Drew - If I recall, they had black and silver leftover 06's. I've heard wonderful things about Scott Honda. Being a Wilmington, DE resident I decided to purchase a black S2000 from Union Park in Wilmington, DE. Purchased on Dec. 26 for 28,500 including Musiclink. Purchased hardtop after sale. I didn't want to pay 2.75% tax. Hardtop due to arrive 1/17. I couldn't be happier with this decision. What a fantastic ... Read More
I'd like to share my recent buyer experience with you. I just bought a new 2006 S2000 from Scott Honda in West Chester, PA. This is the fourth Honda I've bought from them since May 2004, and I've been very happy with the car-buying experience there. Before I shop there, I get quotes from other dealers in the area. Scott does not seem to participate in the various "get an online ... Read More
Here's a question for you Honda S2000 enthusiasts. Would you pay $47,000 +/- for a Honda S3000? Specs would be: [SNIP] Sorry, but the S2000 is almost perfect as-is and I think you'd lose the flavor of the car with your proposed mods. I paid only $30,000 for a new 2006 S2000 this Spring and when the end of the line REALLY arrives, I'll probably buy another and put it in ... Read More
I would not! The current S2000 is pretty close to perfect. A bigger engine would make it heavier and impact the handling for only a modest performance gain. MidCow 2006 S2000
Hi tac379. Honda Finance's current buy rate lease money factor for a 36 month lease of a 2006 S2000 is .00059 for consumers who qualify for its "Super Preferred" credit tier and pay a security deposit at lease signing. If you are able to lease a car with a capitalized cost that is equal to its dealer invoice and this money factor you are getting a very good deal. Car_man Host ... Read More
:) Hi, I got a lot of good information from this forum when I was looking to buy a S2000 so thank you!!!! .... At the same time, though, it almost scared me off of the 2000. I am so glad I bought one. Just wanted to give another opinion from an xTR3 Sports Car fan looking for a sports car again. Noise....what noise!!! I almost didn't buy one thinking it ... Read More
The 2000/2001 S2000's were known to have gear grinding, especially in 1-2, 2-3 shifts. Eventually, the transmission would need to be replaced. In 2002, they upgraded and strengthened the transmission. There probably isn't much you can do about this in your inherited car, since it's now nearly 7 years old. The dealer I bought my 2002 from had gotten authorization from Honda to replace 2000/2001 transmissions with the new model if ... Read More
Have you considered a new 2006? They can be purchased at around $31,000, whereas a used, low mileage 2004/5 will probably sell for $25,000+, at least in our area. For that relatively nominal savings, I'd rather have a new one with a full 3/36 warranty and the ability to break it in properly myself. I do know of someone who bought a low mileage 2003 for $23,800, but he specifically wanted ... Read More
Send a quote request to Honda Long Beach. You will get automated answer which offer the car at ~29850. Send this price to 15 dealerships around and you will see that at least two will give you 29700.
Paragon Honda at NY sells new 05 (Gray) at 24995. Use it as a bait and see how low they can go. You can also ship the car to CA (~$990).
I’m from South California and I bought mine last weekend after researching this model for two weeks. Here are some helpful hints :D The MSRP is $34600 but almost all the dealers will sell it at invoice. The interesting stuff is that two dealerships agreed to sell it in $29700, which is $1300 below invoice. If you want to lease and have high credit score you can get the car for ... Read More
For the past 9 years, I have owned a set of two cars at a time. Each car fullfiling somewhat different goals. Specifically, the first set was a Corvette C5 and a 33O Ci BMW -- both coupes. The former driven when weather conditions did permit and the latter for all-season driving purposes. Both are drivers cars, but clearly one more versatile albeit less exciting than the other. Then last summer, ... Read More
Currently I own a 2006 Carrera S and a 2005 Volvo S 60. I live near New York City and the Volvo serves as a solid backup, particularly in the Winter. However, the more I look at -- and learn about -- the 2006 S 2000, the more excited I become. Since I love the Carrera and cannot afford three cars, the comfortable and safe Volvo would have to go in ... Read More
I had the "noisier" 2002 model with the 2.0 liter 9,000 rpm engine. Noise was not an issue for me, but was for my wife when the top was up at highway speeds. On the highway, the 2002 was running at about 4,000 rpm at 70 mph. I suspect if I had to sit in the passenger seat most of the time, it might be a little annoying for me too. ... Read More
Purchased a 2006 Silverstone/red interior recently. As most posts have stated, the S2000 is an outstanding sports car. The noise issue is all relative. Do you prefer to drive a TL or Lexus? Then the S2000 provides more noise, with most of noise from engine, which is entertaining in my view. Rest of noise is wind noise, which is why I bought a convertible sports car. The engine & wind noises ... Read More
:) I have read just about every post on this forum about the S2000 and particularly those regarding the noise. I did get to drive a 2004 used at a dealers but didn't get to take it over 40 mph due to the location. The handling was fantastic and the sound at 40 mph wasn't annoying. The salesperson was annoying. When does the noise concern kick in? Over 70 mph? I ... Read More
I am in the West and I got it for a good price ($30,995 *destination charge included*) for 2005 Christmas Delivery. I think its because of the competetion with toomany dealers in the same city. Just bought my beautiful Laguna Blue 2 days ago from one of 2 dealers in Albuquerque. Was quoted $31,533 by a Phoenix dealer - but woud have had to pay to ship or fly, buy, and drive 8 hours back. I ... Read More
Ungrade you exhaust to an Invidia and even more people will look at you. I have a red 2006 S2000 with an Invidia exhaust. And yes I agree with all of your postive comments. The car is awesome. The top has been down since I bought it! Double sixes, MidCow
I test drove both a 2006 Z and a 2002 S2000 (Honda won't let you test a new S2000.) (I really don't know why they think the S is so special, they will throw you the keys to a Z at any Nissan dealership.) Anyway the I drove both the Z auto and stick. The Z was a little cumbersome in a stick model. The Z auto was really smooth and ... Read More
I've read on other forums of people paying as little as 29k out the door, but most have been at 30k. Worth every penny... :D
Congrats on your new ride. There hasn't been a day that goes by where I haven't walked into work with a smile on my face after the drive from my house. Even on the 30 degree mornings here in NE, I have been driving top-down enjoying every minute. Congrats!
There haven't been many posts on costs paid lately, where did you buy your car faibnp06 and what was the cost? I'm looking to also get a 2006 shortly and wonder how much under MSRP they are going for these days. thanks
I've just bought my 2006 S2000 and its so unbelievable - the feels, looks, handling, and the engine sound. When I sit inside the car, it fits like a glove, it hugs around your body. I got the Silverstone Metallic with red and black interior, the combination of the colors with chrome trimming interior door handle, and wing spoiler, it looks so awesome. It gives you 100% confidence when making those ... Read More
As a new owner of a 2006 S2000, there is more noise during driving the S2000 than driving a Honda Accord or Acura TL. So what. I did not buy the car for anything else than pure joy of driving. S2000 Experts: Please assist with my attempt to verify Invoice price for '06 S2000 of $30,633(Edmunds) + $550(shipping)= $31,183. I have read another post stating Invoice for '06 is $31,333.49 and hold-back is $1,021.50, with the statement, "dealership has $30,311.99 invested in the car." I may make on offer in March for an '06. Also, I called Honda 'customer assistance' to learn when the last batch of '06 S2000s would be ... Read More
I'm guessing that the previous poster forgot the word "not". Last weekend marked the 4th anniversary of my purchase of a 2002 S2000. I bought it for $32k ($880 under MSRP), which was a great deal at the time, considering the Edmunds TMV was still $36,000 ($3120 over MSRP). I traded it 2.5 years later in May 2004 with 19,000 miles for $23.2k on an Acura TL, but could have sold ... Read More
If you're looking to get an S2000 on the cheap, you can get great deals now that we are heading into winter. I was offered $29,000 on one, which is a little less than the dealer's cost, even taking into account the holdback. They want to clear them out to make way for the 2006's, which I fear you may not ever be able to get a great deal on, because ... Read More
I recently read a thread that mentioned that the S2k was going to be "redesigned" for the 2006-2007 model year...Is that true? I don't know how Honda could manange to make a better car this great > better, but hey, THEY MADE THIS CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE! :P w hat changes are they making? Any links on this topic would be appreciated... Thanks guys
I am not sure I like the changes to the wheels or the steering wheel or the seats (I will wait to see them in person), but having stability control and the longer powertrain warranty would be enough to make me wait - I think. That said, I am a lease guy - and only gave up my 01 S for a new 05 S this year due to the cheap ... Read More
I was under the impression from Honda and their dealers that there were going to be no 2006 model for the S2000. This was in a MotorTrend article. What is your source? They all have but introduced all the 2006 models minus one...the S2000. Because I would hold out for the 2006 or better yet get a better price for the 2005. Thanks in advance.
No the S is not being cancelled for 2006. That information probably came from people trying to predict its demise or salesman who want to foster uncertainty and drive up prices. Also ASAIK there is no new Prelude as a post above alluded to. As for new vs. used all potential owners should drive both the 2.0 and 2.2 themselves before they make up their mind as some of us prefer ... Read More
Selling price has little to do with how much money Honda made on the S2000, unless there was dealer money on the car the dealer paid invoice less hold back no matter what they charged. Now the price you COULD get is a direct reflection of how well or how poorly the car was doing, sales-wise. With limited production each dealer knew they would only get a few so would not ... Per some snippets on vtec.net, there are no changes for 2005, not even a new color. I can't vouch for the veracity of this information. I'm not sure where the S2000 is going, nor what this part of the sports car market is going to look like in a few years. The S is no less of a car than it was a few years ago, but the Elise was bound ... Read More
