2004 Chevrolet Impala SS vs. 1996 Chevrolet Impala
Written by: chevyfanatic69 on Apr 25, 2004 11:16:14 AM
I was looking at the test results of a new Impala SS and saw that it could keep up with or even beat 1994-1996 SS Impala's. I know its FWD and has a V-6 (although a very powerful one) I think it should get some respect at least for not being a SS with a N/A 3800 V-6 like the 2000-Present Monte Carlos

1994-1996 impala ss

I saw the spy pictures of this car in late 1992 when word was that John Moss was given permission to spruce up the aging Caprice..It made its debut in 1993 and I saw my first one at the at the Toronto Auto show....I was impressed with the the cool black grille black paint and sporty 17" wheels. When I looked inside I couldn't believe it was the same old Caprice with ... Marauder discontinued
Written by: charts2 on Jul 5, 2003 10:09:33 AM
I don't think the lack of power was the only issue with this car,its huge, its heavy, and it ain't cheap.. but even with a larger engine and more torque would not compete with current Altimas and Maximas with their 3.5 engine....only a few nostalgic Ford lovers showed true interest in the car....Same with the current retro T Bird...sales are way below expectations it will also probably be discontinued within a ... 2004 Impala SS :Johnclineii

Pricing is always a consideration when purchasing a new vehicle. For sure the Impala SS isn't going to be cheap. Everything has a cost. Fat 17" wheels + tires, beefed suspension, gauge package, SS badging etc. The 2004 SS will be a specialty car in Chevys lineup like the 1994-1996 SS was. Most of those sold for list price.. From the 1960's onward top of the line Pontiac models always offered ... Read More

Impala interior/ Garypen
Written by: charts2 on Aug 22, 2002 10:03:10 AM
Almost all Chevy products from the 1950's to the present date never had great interior fabric materials. When Impala back in the late 50's, 60s and 70s competed with at the time Pontiac Bonneville and Ford Galaxie the Impala always had the cheaper looking seats and instrument panels. Same through the 80's and 90's competing with the Crown Vic. Its has always been a negative for Chevy. I believe they design ... Read More

Roadmaster vs. Impala SS:
Written by: yurakm on May 3, 2002 12:35:54 PM
You can compare the specs yourself: 1994 Buick Roadmaster Limited: http://www.edmunds.com/used/1994/buick/roadmaster/4drlimitedsedan/specs.html?id=lin0066 and 1994 Chevrolet Impala SS: http://www.edmunds.com/used/1994/chevrolet/impala/4drsssedan/specs.html?id=lin0066 Engine is the same. Weight and dimensions are very close, especially wheelbase - looks as these cars were built on the same platform. and the last - no, I have no intentions to buy either of these cars.

I don't see Chevrolet making any major changes to the 2003 Impala model. The current Malibu has not changed since its inception in 1997. The sheet metal on the Cavalier since 1995. minor updates are usually made to their cars during a model run. In this case I am assuming the Impala will run from 2000 to 2004, with the same sheet metal. The 2003 Impala might have a change in ... Read More

Impala SS / Caprice models
Written by: charts2 on Feb 8, 2002 6:36:22 AM
The original Impala SS cars that ran from 1961 to 1969 were not necessarily designated as "high perfomance cars" I sense that a few current Impala owners always considered the SS option as meaning big engine with lots of horse power. The SS option in the 60's was strictly a cosmetic option that could be purchased for a few hundred dollars (at that time). SS option added bucket seats, SS exterior ... Read More

Hmmmmm. Ken, if the Commodore becomes available in the US, virtually unchanged from the Australian version, then it will be a very tough decision between the German iron and the Aussie/Germanic Iron. The Commodore is essentially a Cadillac Catera with a V8, RWD and an available 6-speed manual tranny. The V8 in the Commodore SS is the same beast found under the hood of the Corvette coupe and the Camaro SS. ... Read More

Actually, I have four cars. 2001 Impala LS, 2001 Acura CL, 1999 Grand Am, and 1994 Honda Civic. Only the Grand Am and the Acura were made in the US. The Impala, like the Honda, was made in Canada. Didn't you know that? I wonder if the Impala has more than 85% domestically produced parts, as does the Acura? As for the Yokos, I paid $96 each for the AVS dB's, ... Read More

The information regarding the 2002 Impala that I posted recently is available by phoning GM. 1-800-GMDRIVE. When phoning Follow the sequence of options and then push your touch tone phone where it gives information to speak to a representative about product information.
