Chevy Cavalier
Written by: deborahj on Mar 9, 2006 6:18:44 PM
My mother has a 2000 Chevy with less than 25,000 miles. The gasket broke and the whole unit needs to be replaced at a cost of nearly $2,000. Called GM and they offered to pay half. My google searches indicate they have a lot of problems similiar to this. I've decided to not accept their offer and instead take them to court (special civil part)--where you can sue up to $10,000. ... Read More

If you make an account on mygmlink.com, you will have access to an owners manual, which you can download and save so that you will have one at hand.

Going by memory, with CD player down the right lower corner there is a rocker switch. Left arrow down, right up. Press either arrow for 2 seconds and hr or min should start flashing.

Written by: mesian on Jan 2, 2006 6:34:08 AM
I just bought a used 2000 Chevy Cavalier. It didn't come with an Owners Manual. Does anyone know how to set the clock? Thanks for any help you can give me.

GMC does not stand behind its products
Written by: lexie on Mar 26, 2005 7:22:57 PM
I own a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier and it is worst investment I have ever made. If you are thinking about buying a car for a reasonable price, read this because it happened to me. Do not let those rebates lure you in as was exactly what happened to me. I had just gotten out of college and was looking for a reliable car to get from point A to B. I ... Read More

Well, I'm glad this is a place to post such info. Not so glad about other.... I have a 1997 Chevy Cavalier, am a mother turtle speed to normal driver(don't drive the car hard). My car had a fire hazard recall for the ignition start up; it has a current ongoing gas smell (fire hazard) the smell comes in through the vents or A/C or heater when in use, the ... Read More

That's it. Bye-bye, bow tie!!!
Written by: mdaffron on Nov 6, 2001 8:54:58 AM
My wife's 1995 Cavalier is about to go bye-bye for a Mazda Protege. No more Chevrolet or GM for us, ever. Aside from things like a new alternator, new headlight switch, new seat cushion, new a/c compressor, new a/c and heat hoses and three radios in only 54,000 miles (enough problems, right?), here's the last straw: March 2000 (44,000 miles): Head gasket replaced under GM recall allowing one replacement in 100,000 ... It's funny that any time someone in here has a problem they get "it's just a fluke" "you must've just gotten a bad one". Well it seems to me that considering the limited number of people who post in these forums there is a little more to it than people just getting bad cars. I myself just read about 100 posts and I think about half of them had some kind ... Read More

I'm not going to get into a pissing match with you here, but two things before I rest my case ... (1) GM would not have issued a recall on the head gaskets if mine were a rare case. They've had enough complaints to make them issue a recall. You don't offer to fix tens of thousands of cars at $600 a pop out of your pocket unless you did something ... Read More

Actually, if you read the Mazda Protege 5 forum, he has one of those (2000 ES model from what I have read), and it's been trouble-free for 7000 miles. I would much rather trust a Mazda, Toyota, or Nissan than a Hyundai or Chevrolet any day. My mother has a 1993 Pontiac (70K) right now that's always in the shop. It's junk, as was her 1994 Pontiac that this one replaced ... Read More

Matty, please reconsider your decision
Written by: matto2000 on Aug 28, 2000 3:03:13 PM
Matty, please listen to my warning before buying that Cavalier. Nearly three years ago, I celebrated my 16th birthday and used my life savings (at the time) to buy my first car, a brand new 1998 cavalier. That may very well have been the worst decision I ever made. Within the car's first 4,000 miles, it contracted a very annoying and rather dangerous stalling problem, and just to clarify it's an ... In my opinion you will be very pleased with the Cavalier. Basic transportation, cheap price for a young person who doesn't want to pay for the over priced competitors. The Cavalier is just a basic car to get from A to B, built solid, overall reliable. Take it from a person who has owned Chevy all his life. My fiance just bought a 2000 about 4 months ago and we could ... Read More

Dramatic update

Well, I live in southeastern Texas, so the rear defrost is definitely a must in this humidity. Well, tonight I went to the Chevy dealership where I purchased my Cavalier alomst a year ago, and drove the 2000 Malibu. This model was the LS, with the spoiler, LOADED. This is definitely a fine piece of chevy. Drives great, quiet, powerful, Sandrift metallic color. Awesome. But of course, dealers try to hammer ... Read More

Just a little feedback on the the new Y2K Cavalier. I have read many pros and cons, and would like to give my 2 cents worth. I purchased mine preyear late November, and can't be happier. I own the LS Sedan, and for the extras received along with a reasonable price you can't beat it. 4W antilock brakes, electronic tracking control, anti theft system, a/c, etc, the standard options in the ...
