Hi. I had the same problem with my 1994 Deville. You should check to make sure that the radio clock is off when you turn off the ignition. This was the problem with mine, I disconected the radio and it cured the problem, hope that this helps you. Tony92.

I am at a wits end and so are the mechanics. I bought this 94 Deville for $2500 in great condition. I have something draining the battery. I had reconditioned batteries replaced 3 times and they died after 4 to 7 days. I had a new battery that matches my caddy and it died 2 weeks later. The trunk motor is taken out and has to be closed manually. The alternator ... Read More

...I purchased new in November 1993 and traded last January for a new 2002 Seville STS. My car had 96K miles and had given me no serious problems and few small ones. About the worst was a water pump replacement @ 85K miles which cost around $500.

...renders measly MPG figures. I had a 1994 DeVille and managed around 14 MPG City due to all the stop and go driving. However, I could sometimes manage 25 MPG on the PA Turnpike under ideal conditions or 22 MPG under average conditions. Years ago I had a 1975 Cadillac DeVille. City MPG was more like 8.

...you pretty much described my 1989 Cadillac Brougham! Don't forget the three fender-mounted fiber optic lights on each front fender! It has all those features. My 1994 DeVille had the trunk pull-down and little red lights above the rear window in the interior to show turn direction, brake lights, and illuminated taillamps. These features are strangely absent in my 2002 STS. I sure miss them! Of course my STS has a ... Read More

...I'm perhaps the youngest buyer of a new Cadillac Brougham. I was only 24 when I purchased a new 1989 Cadillac Brougham in January of that year. My second new Cadillac - a base model 1994 DeVille was purchased at 29. My 2002 Seville STS was purchased just 4 months short of my 37th birthday.

...I did notice the different-sounding horn vis-a-vis my 1994 DeVille. My 1989 Brougham has the awesome 4-note Cadillac trumpet horn. It sounds like a locomotive.

Last Monday I replaced my Carmine Red 1994 Cadillac DeVille after eight years and 90,696 miles with a brand-new 2002 Seville STS. I would've loved to have kept my DeVille forever, but was at the point where I could keep it and run it into the ground or still get something for it as a trade-in.

When is the current-generation DeVille going to get another thorough redesign, and if so, will it switch to RWD and get a more powerful engine? I just looked at the new DeVilles at my local Cadillac dealership and they were by far the most well-assembled GM products that I have ever seen. By the way, when I was talking about the DeVille being a glorified Delta 88, I was referring to ... Read More

  • Is this a good deal?

My local Cadillac dealer offered me a deal on a 2001 base DeVille with 9,000 miles on it for $34K. My trade is a 1994 DeVille valued at $5,500 + $3,600K down payment. PA state sales tax is 6%. This works out to $416/mo for 5 years. What do you think?

...I have found repair expenses on my 1994 Deville about the same as they were for the 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS it replaced. In some cases, I'm actually surprised at how inexpensive some of the repairs are. This is probably one of the biggest benefits of Cadillacs sharing components with other GM makes.

My girlfriend has a new Chevrolet Impala and they are doing their darndest to ensure she is happy with her car. Maybe it varies by dealer. As far as I can see, I have no reason whatsoever to consider a foreign make. I do like the Lexus LS400 and LS430 and the Mercedes S-Class, but ... Read More

  • How old of a used Caddy?

Written by: lemko on Jun 15, 2001 12:51:54 PM

I would highly recommend a 1977-79 Deville. Sensible size, fairly decent gas mileage, excellent 425 V-8. A lot are still on the road. Of more recent Cadillacs, the 1994-99 Cadillacs are good. My 1994 Deville with 4.9 V-8 and 85K miles is still going strong. A nice 1998 or 1999 model base Deville would probably be your best choice. They can be had for very reasonable prices.

I have a Carmine Red Metallic '94 Deville that is about the sharpest looking red you've ever seen. You don't see too many red Cadillacs because red is a color usually associated with sports cars. I sure hope Cadillac still offers this color when I buy my next Deville.

I have purchased two new Cadillacs and my experience with the dealer had a lot to do with my decision. I purchased my first new Cadillac at the age of 24 - a 1989 Cadillac Brougham. I know it's unusual for a 24-year old to buy a new Cadillac, but I've always dreamed of having a new Cadillac since I saw a neighbor's black 1963 Sedan de Ville when I was ... Read More

Hi folks, I was hoping to get some input from experienced Cadillac owners. In a few months I am about to take on a 70 mile a day (round trip) commute. I decided that I want a big comfortable car. Some very good family friends of mine have a 1994 Deville Concours with 23,000 miles on it. These people are VERY particular and have babied the car since day one. Any ... Read More
