Luxury car?
Drives well- nice performance but man you only get about 50% of the “luxury” of competing brands. Nav is crap, voice control never gets it right, click 5 times to turn on AC fan and the strength of the fan varies wildly. At times it will blow you hair back- other times you will click for minutes to get air to show up. Drives great and has some nice features but the little things are adding up. Prob won’t keep it after lease

Touchscreen interface dangerous and dumb
Other than the touchscreen feature, the car has been pretty good and I like it. My wife likes it. I will never buy another vehicle with just the touchscreen stuff. I want a knob I can quickly and safely manipulate without having to be distracted from watching the road.

Amazing amount of tech for the price
This little car has amazing amount of safety technology for the price. Some things do require an extra package but many other cars in this price range don’t even have similar options. The engine has a wow factor also, it will push you into the seat a bit. The upgraded stereo is also worth doing if you can. Update: still loving it!

Volvo for Life Slogan = Empty Promise
I purchased a Volvo XC40 T5 R-Design. I have had three pebbles/stones hit my windshield in six weeks. I was traveling 35 mph two of the three times. All three occasions were on paved roads. I never drive on gravel roads. The second one occurred while I waited for over 30 days for a windshield replacement. The first two sent cracks across the entire windshield. I now have a third smaller one on the replacement. I found other owners on-line with similar problems. I called Volvo USA because something is seriously wrong with either production of the glass, installation, or the aerodynamics of the vehicle. I have owned cars for over 40 years and I have never experienced this. It was disappointing that the dealership was hands off. It was shocking to receive push back from Volvo USA. They claimed it is normal wear and tear and there is nothing they can do for me. Volvo charges $1770 to replace the windshield because camera's and sensors also have to be replaced and calibrated. I am waiting to hear how much the insurance company will pay for this claim. I won't hold my breath that I will receive much of the $675 in labor fees. If Volvo stands behind their product, how can they not even offer a one year glass protection plan where they do repairs for free? This would enable them to evaluate the issue. They have treated me like a crazy person attempting to get something for nothing. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'll never buy Volvo again. Did I mention $375 to repair the wheels? UGH, it's been an expensive seven months of Volvo new car ownership. I plan to sell and cut my losses!

Fantastic vehicle; even after 3 years
We’ve owned this gem for 3 weeks and it truly the best car we’ve ever owned. Great street appeal and tremendous acceleration and handling. Voice commends are disappointing. UPDATE: After 3 years, the vehicle is still a great piece of transportation. MPG over 3 years of mixed driving (21,000 miles) is 27.5. Sensus Voice commands still disappointing especially compared with my 2023 XC40 recharge with the Google based system. Only issues were 1) power mirrors went haywire and not holding their position and 2) rear trunk support struts made noise. Both items covered by warranty.
