Used 2023 Volvo XC40 Consumer Reviews
SOOOO DISAPPOINTED!
Traded in a 2019 Volvo XC40 T5 Momentum for a new 2023 version of the same car. XC40, B5 mild hybrid, ultimate trim. My biggest complaint is the regenerative braking. It makes the brakes so slow and stiff that it's like the days before power brakes were invented! Bringing the car to a sudden slowdown on the freeway was like working my leg out on a weight machine at the gym - only scarier! They've also done away with the sport mode option and the way it drives now is downright sluggish compared to my old one. Now for the small stuff that is now worse than in my old car. The temperature settings now go in two-degree increments. Volvo doesn't seem to think that matters to people but I very often find (in my old car) that I'd be a little warm or cool and I would adjust the temp up or down by a degree. Now you have to go from 72, to 74, to 76, etc. Volvo eliminated the power back seat drop, which I used to be able to do from a lever the rear hatch area. Now you have to manually drop them one at a time from the side doors.
For the Money, Just "OK"
I love the look of the vehicle. That is what drew me to it to begin with. Wanted SUV without sacrificing sporty look. Decent comfort level. Cargo area isn't huge, but I guess it is sufficient. I wish I had gotten leather seats in lieu of the sporty "suede" that mine came with. Makes the interior feel basic rather than sporty (my fault, didn't realize I wouldn't love them). I don't love that you can't get an owner's manual, except electronically (I know, old school, but still). I also do not like that there isn't a remote start on the key fob, it must be done through the app. As a woman, when leaving a public place, I don't want to be paying attention to the phone, rather than my surroundings. Furthermore, what if I have bad cell signal, etc? Again, not a deal breaker, but more of a safety concern..why not have the availability of both? Decent vehicle, but probably wouldn't purchase this model again.

Unique Little Gem
This car is so quirky and fun that I find myself looking for excuses to drive it even when I have no place to go. Never in a million years did I think I’d own a Volvo coming from Lexus, but this car has personality in spades where as the Lexus just seems so…sterile. The art deco interior design elements are particularly charming. Two thumbs up!

All the right looks, but poor execution.
Took this car out for an hour test drive, right after looking at Mazda's offerings. This car looks great, and the interior is very minimalist. The little SUV drove very well, and the driving experience and power was fairly well implemented. Now, this car does have a fair few drawbacks. First, the most irritating thing no other reviewer mentions is the noise the HVAC system makes. From the slowest fan setting and beyond, it sounds like a server rack. All of the HVAC controls are also all controlled through the in-dash screen, so changing the settings while driving is a pain, if not dangerous. The tire noise above 50mph is worse than all other competitors, and many below it's price point. And for some reason, the materials they use in the door panel cubby's feels like bargain-bin RV materials. For a $45k and up SUV, this seems like a daft choice, and will easily get stained. After reading the other reviews about electronics issues, and the overall experience during our own test drive, $40k or more just does not make sense when Mazda's CX-30 Turbo starts at $30k.

Getting better looking every day !
Wow just a beauty Fjord color looks way better in person no doubts. I had a 2016 XC 60 and this XC40 B5 Bright AWD Plus is so awesome. Just a stunning car to look at like it was some Harley and a work of art. 19" Diamond cut wheels set it off. Tons of safety So happy and the look will last.
