Oil Burner
I bought this car for the looks and the 100,000 mile warranty(Engine). At 15,000 miles the temperature gauge went out, then the dealer wanted to replace the rear rotors for $400.What a joke, another dealer said the rotors were OK. This car burns oil since day one, 1 quart every 1,000 miles...V W says it,s OK.I am very disapointed with this car.I will never buy a V W again.Give me a Honda anyday. Now I know why V W recommends to change the oil every 10,000 miles...The oil is always new, since it burns so much oil, why even bother changing it?Just replace the oil filter.
Don't buy a Jetta
We test drove the top of the line VR6 and loved it. Bought it off the lot and had nothing but problems with it. Passenger window broke. Trunk broke. Lights would come on when you turned the corner. O2 sensors coming on. In and out of the shop. The car was not reliable. Traded it in on an Acura. Much happier now. I would not recommend buying a VW.

Great VW
Just traded in my VW Jetta GLX VR-6 with 254,000 miles on it. I hated to get rid of it but I was getting bored with it. You ask why? Well for one, I was the original owner. With all those mile it kept its good looks, Leather seat were still beautiful, and engine still ran like new. I always hated one thing about the car and it was the 91 octane. Let me tell you this was the best VW I ever owned, but I had to stay on top of the maintenance! I miss here already!
Am I Lucky??
I own a 2000 GLX VR6 and still love driving it. After reading many other reviews I am feeling very lucky but worried now. Only a few things have happened to it. My rain sensor stopped working, which was due to a short in the wiring up in the head liner and my armrest latch broke and that is it. I blew a couple speakers or the rivits that hold them in were loose or broken, I forget, but now the rattles are back in 3 speakers. Everthing was covered. I do notice a lot of squeeks and rattles and wind noise with the sunroof. Besides those little things the car has been great to me, specially for the way I drive it(like an arcade racing game).
Luv it
My husband & I love my Jetta. It's Sporty, quick & reliable with an awsome sound system. Great for people or couple's without kids. The backseat is kinda small for passengers. I mainly have it to commute to work. The backseat folds down for x-tra cargo space. My V6 has a ton of power. My husband calls it the sports car. When given the choice on which car to take on a trip, we have always chosen the Jetta.
