Clutch Goes At 29000 miles?
Ok i have had my Jetta for 3 months now and i have had to pay 1500 to get my clutch and fly-Wheel replaced and I asked a friend that restores love bugs and he said that it has a hydrolic clutch that is damn neer impossible to beun out yet VW says it was all my faut. But last wed some trick rearended me and pushed my Jetta under a pickup truck totaling the jetta which i guess ended the saga of that car. The two things good about the car is the proformance and the car held its ground in the accident other than the fact that the air-bags didnt go off.
2000 Jetta GLS VR6
Overall this car is an excellent choice for a compact sedan. The biggest negative is the fact that the front bumper is very low to the ground and has a tendency to become stuck on parking curbs. So, beware. Aside from that, it's great fun to drive and has minimal problems.

What happen to German engineering???
I love the interior & exterior design and that's the only good thing I can say about VW. I had so many problem w/ this car that I'm planning to trade in. Here are some of the problems: (1) engine oil consumption (1qt/ every 1000miles) - dealer said it was normal but now VW has a special repair kit. (2) air flow meter failure (3) oxygen sensor failure (4) door lock actuator problem (5) rattle from interior (6) Catalytic converter failure.... And I'm preparing myself for window regulator failure soon (it hasn't happened yet but my rear door window dropped few times). And most of all, bad treatment from dealership makes me to hate myself for buying VW.

Overall, it is a nice car, but I do not like the rattles in the doors and dash. Started around 7,000 miles. With the 5 speed, I can not believe the fact it burns a quart of oil ever 1,000 miles. The sound system is so nice that it makes the cheap plastic mounting in the doors rattle. I Love the room throughout and the feel on the road (with earplugs on)! What is the issue with the Jetta's, mine included, with the rear tail lights going out? A short somewhere?
Problematic car.
Loved the car at first. After 1 month, it developed a water leak in the driver door. Many visits later the leak is not fixed. Other problems include 3 of 4 windows have had the regulator go out. The lumbar seats broke. The emissions light comes on frequently. The air conditioner has built-up a bad smell. The water coolent light comes on but the guage is normal and coolant level is good. I have never missed the required maintenance and it still has these problems. The car drives great and is appealing to the eye, but these problems are not worth it. I wish I had purchased the extended warranty. Actually, I wish I could go back and never have purchased the car.
