2022 Toyota Tacoma
I own a 2022 Tacoma 2x4 SR5 v6 double cab that I sold a 2021 Ranger for. While the Ranger was faster and had a few more useless features, it was a tin can and I had zero confidence in the resale value or longevity of the truck. As a result I quickly got rid of it and purchased my Tacoma. After owning the Tacoma for a year now I can confidently say it is a far better vehicle than the … Ranger. The common gripes with the Tacoma include that the drivetrain, technology, and design are "outdated" to some people. I believe they are perfected... not outdated. The v6 could make more power down low in the RPMs and the auto trans could have better shiftpoints but even for how particular I am with vehicles these things are totally livable for a reliable and solid vehicle like the Tacoma. These trucks hold their value insanely well which cannot be said for any of the competitors like the Ranger, Colorado, Canyon (which I also owned and was a huge pile), and the Frontier (puke emoji). Tacoma has been the gold standard for midsize trucks since its inception and there's plenty of reasons why everyone else is playing catchup. I'm not a Toyota fanboy but let's face it, Toyota makes high-quality vehicles with excellent resale value and you cant say either of those things about the competitors. The Tacoma is a truck, it rides/drives like a truck, not a Cadillac... and I'm fine with that. With the insane prices of new vehicles I wanted to put my money in something that was tried and true and that had historical data of maintaining its value... both of which Tacoma offers unlike any of the competitors. I'm very happy with my truck and am fully aware and accepting of its shortcomings for QUALITY.
