My 01 tacoma has 70,000 miles on it and i haven't had a single problem with it. It goes everywhere off road and rides nice on the pavement. Its a solid truck.

Love the Tacoma Crew Cab! It is a great truck and is the best looking small truck out there. Looks great, however it doesn't ride quite like its big brother the Tundra. I do highly recommend this truck over the other small trucks.

First of all, let me say this has been a really good truck, so if this sounds like a negative review, these are relatively minor points. Gas mileage has been a disappointment for a V6: 15- 17 combined city/highway. I have a bit of a lead foot, but still, when I see full-size Fords and Chevys advertising 20 mpg with V8s, I cringe. Also, not as sure-footed as I'd like in snow and ice. Interior: The rubber inserts have all cracked and fallen out of the cup holders. And last, despite fastidious care, my rear chrome bumper has started to rust. Those negatives aside, this truck has gone all over with poise and confidence. Also, your picture's wrong; 2001 models had a different grille.

Any Japanese car that moves to the US and starts making cars in the US will drop in reliability. My Tacoma engine and transmission was made in Japan and was assembled in the US. It runs perfectly after 300,000 miles on the odometer. I have a friend of mine that bought a brand new Tacoma and the transmission died after only 40,000 miles.

my d-cab has a real truck feel, I mean I can feel every bump in the road, my 4 year old daughter said one day, this is a bumpy car daddy, the trasmission takes a while to down shift when coming up to a stop sign then giving it gas right away there is a big hesitation, the bed is to small, could be a little longer, and my shifter and 4x4 shifters wonder all over the cab, real loose........my steering wheel came crooked.......but other than those problems it has been an awesome car...........
