Love my new rav 4 so far. I think people are confused by what eco mode is? yes its a bit of a dog and shifts allot but it does its job of getting great gas mileage! I'm getting 31mpg average so far. Just run it in sport mode if you need more power. I spend 2 hours a day in rush hour traffic and this thing is perfect for that. The rolling stop issue is for real though and they should address it. very clunky if you slow down to almost a stop and then hit the gas. Engine is a bit noisy, transmission is a bit clunky an it will search for gears more then it should. You just have to learn to drive it and learn it's quirks. I love the new design! I have the xle premeium and I think its a nice trim package. support for android would be nice though. So after writing this honestly it's probably over priced and buying a mazda or jeep would be better... Unless like me you just expect your cars to run forever and get great gas mileage in really bad traffic on 87 pump gas, then my bet is that the Toyota is the best choice.

Look out for Adventure (and Limited) Drivetrain!

Others have reported the "grinding" sound from the RAV4 Adventure driveline disconnect, and it is no joke. You can report it to the dealership and once they hear it too they are instructed to call Toyota. It's a dead-end so far, because they don't have a fix. Think about driving your friends around in your new car while they listen to it sound like it's about to self-destruct at 30 mph. It sounds like someone stabbing a cow - a deep intermittent "Moooooo" once it gets warmed up and you are driving at suburban speeds. I've had it happen so frequently that it's a joke. Not to mention, whatever is going on can't really be good for the car long-term. FIX IT! This plus the jerky shifts, lack of low-end power and clumsy acceleration make this a less than satisfying new car experience. Toyota quality has taken a hit with this model. Beware!

We traded our 2014 Toyota Venza for the Rav4 Limited and we are very happy with our purchase. It's not as smooth and quiet as our 2007 La Crosse or our 2011 Impala but this vehicle rides and handles great and gets good gas mileage. The seats are very comfortable and it is easy to get in and out of with my bad back. My wife is on her 4th Toyota Camry so we have owned a total of 6 Toyotas and they all have been very pleasant and comfortable to drive and very reliable. We drove about 3000 miles from Colorado to Indiana & Ohio and the RAV4 performed beautifully. To update this review we took two more road trips with our RAV4 Limited. One to Tucson and one to Yellowstone and once again this vehicle performed beautifully. We live in Denver so it does well in the mountains and on the open road. It has a little more cargo room than the Venza so it is a perfect car for our retirement travel Update july2020. Our RAV4 is still doing a great job for us. No problems. This update is on july 31, 2022. We are still very happy with our RAV4. We recently drove 2600 miles from Denver to Missoula Montana and then to Custer South Dakota. We averaged 28.4 MPG driving a mixture of roads from 40 mph to 80 mph. Had a great vacation with no problems from the RAV.

Nothing Near Smooth

Have you ever had a car that has terrible transmission. This would be the car for you. Whenever we come to a near stop, the stop itself is very rough and jolt like. Then if you want to accelerate quickly the car hurdles you forward before the acceleration even starts. In order for it to not happen you have to be very gradual about it. Since having this car for about 2 weeks our family are constantly having headaches. I would not call a car efficient and the best selling car if the car gives people headaches everywhere. Additionally the engine is very noisy, I get it if it was in sport mode or something, but since we bought it the car has always been in eco mode. You would think it would be quieter, but in reality that is just not the case here. Honestly the car that I had before which was the 2006 Highlander Hybrid was way much better. Even though the reason that we turned it in was because our exhaust system was in terrible shape, the ride itself was always smooth.

I don't feel safe....

The transmission is very poor. Very slow & hesitation for accelerating, not good especially if you are entering the xway and trying to get up to speed, or changing lanes. The card bucks and pitches, when braking, and really hesitates acceleration -like stop & go on the xway; I am NOT happy and this is my 5th Toyota, 3rd Rav4. I do not feel safe
