Used 1994 Toyota Pickup Consumer Reviews
Best bargain around
Mine is a base model, 5 speed, no ac. Got it for $9000 new while in college. Still have it and it's about like it was when I first got it, 96000 miles ago. The timing chain went at 85000 miles, so I got that and a warped cylinder fixed for $500 at a local shop. The thermostat needed replaced a couple times in the early years, but that was cheap. That's all I've had done with it.
Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned
I purchased this truck brand new with only 5 miles on the odometer. Now it has over 220,000 miles and it's still going strong with zero unexpected repairs. Meaning other than the usual routine maintenance service work, nothing went wrong. It has so many original equipment on it that it just boggles the mind. I talking it still has the original clutch for pete's sake.

Simplicity at its best
I've been driving this truck for roughly 65k miles, and it's still running great with 166k total miles on it. The 22RE engine is a tank, and will easily make this truck last well into the 200k mile range. The stock tranny is starting to show a little wear on the second gear synchro due to the abuse of a previous owner, but there are no major problems with this truck. If you're proficient at double-clutch, the tranny and clutch will last forever. Keep RPMs below 3000 until it's warm, and she'll treat you well for a long time.
Keep going
Purchased this truck in 2003 with 125K on the truck.. Paid 4,500 @ that time and had timing chain and clutch work done.. Today @ 220K put another timing chain kit and oil pump, water pump and new belts on the truck.. What can I say the truck has been super for what I do drive it to work and crawl around in the mountains with it.. The way it is running now I am hoping to put another 80K on it.. Man what a truck.. I looked at new trucks but I just couldn't see the value in a new truck when this thing keeps going and going and going.. Thank you Toyota, the 22RE will have to go down in history as one of the greatest engines of all time... I am asked daily to price the truck.. No Way!!!
Great Truck
Dependable truck. I've never had any problems with it (although I don't have many miles on it... only 60K). This is the 2nd Toyota Truck I've owned and my next one will likely be a Tundra.
