I bought this as a restore project. It had been badly beat, but this truck just can't be stopped. MPG;22, great off road, will go anywhere. very utilitarian - not much luxury here, but a fantastic truck. drives like a truck - NOT a car. 22-re engine is a good, strong, balanced engine, it is great for everything but highway towing a LOT of weight. Plenty of torque for low speed driving/towing/climbing. parts can be more expensive and rare than the newer Tacoma.

Hi I am writing my update review on my toy trk. It now has 118k miles on it. Still love it to death. Still runs like new. Nothing has gone bad except a battery. This truck has been to hell and back. Snow, high speeds on the interstate, delivering food, you name it. Been there done that. No other truck could survive all of this carnage. Just remember to change the oil every 3k, not every 7.5k like the stupid manuel saids.

One Tough Truck

1994 Toyota Pickup DX V6 2dr Extended Cab 4WD SB (3.0L 6cyl naturally aspired 5M)

I am one of the few people who truly uses 4WD on a regular and necessary basis. This tough little Toyota (3.0L V6 w/ manual trans/manual hubs) will outperform anything I have owned, and is apparently due to a good balance of wheelbase, weight, and tires. Low end torque is impressive. I've not put any $$ into this vehicle (98K miles) other than routine maintenance. Timing belt was replaced at 66K miles when recall replaced the head gasket. Toyota paid for the belt labor and I had to only pay for the belt itself. Would I buy another?... in a heartbeat!

I bought this truck new. I had always wanted a 4x4 and I had a great excuse when I bought a new house with a treacherous driveway. I put about 40k on the truck in the first three years but have not put on 10k since. I have loaded this truck with a pallet of concrete blocks, yards and yards of gravel and many other things that were way over it's rated capacity. Never even made a groan. Very capable off-road. Interior comfort is as good as it could be in a small truck. Somewhere around 40k miles I think I hurt the engine off-roading and over- revving. It makes a weird rattling sound at high RPMs, but I've been driving it anyway and nothing has happened yet.

My uncle bought this truck brand new with 40 miles on it. Then gave it to me after a few months and I've driven it since then. Now it has about 166K miles and still running great. Hasn't failed a single smog check nor left me stranded on the road. A very dependable and reliable truck.
