Good Family Car
This is a good family car. It is quiet, i.e. both road noise and wind noise are low. The V6 engine is smooth and low noise also. The transmission is excellent, shifts smoothly and accurately. Drive is soft and comfortable. This car cannot be really called fun to drive though because it leans quite a bit and is not very composed while cornering (even moderately hard), I guess it is the price you pay for a smooth ride. Design interior and exterior are pretty good, simple and ergonomic. I am bit disappointed in the build quality given Toyota's reputation. I can hear a few rattles and squeaks at high speeds. Safety features are outstanding though as it should be for a family car.
Glad I bought a Camry
I did a lot of research prior to actually going to a dealership. It came down to a Camry or an Accord. With the new design of the Camry and the awesome power of the v-6 it wasn't even close! I have now driven 1140 miles and am averaging about 30mpg. A trip to Nashville over some very hilly terrain avg. 34mpg. This car has great power, ride and handling for a family sedan. I did opt for the upgrade stereo with bluetooth tech. and sunroof. I love being able to pass slower traffic with such ease. I haven't driven a car with this much power since the muscle cars of yesteryear and could probably take most of them! Mileage and power! Check it out and be surprised when you remember this is a Camry!
2007 Toyota Camry V6
I have been driving Toyota Camry for several several years and traded a 2003 Camry. I immediately starting noticing transmission surge during 2nd and 3rd gear during first few minutes of driving. Service dept. ignored any knowledge of this problem until about 6 months ago. They finally had me bring it in for a computer update regarding the shifting, which cleared the problem for the most part. Still does some surging at times. Radio display went out several times before radio was replaced. Rattles inside. Rear bumper popped out on left side, I just popped it back into place. Disappointed in interior and exterior quality. 30,000 miles on it now and disappointed.
45000 miles in
Just hitting 3 years, still can't wait to get rid of it. My wife has been driving it mostly, I use it once in awhile and still hate the driver seat. About as soft and supportive as a bean bag chair. MPG still great for a V-6. Car has more than enough power but the suspension is worthless. Too much body roll and when I take a turn, I find I need to hold myself in seat by elbowing the pass. seat. I'm in need of tires {Again}. I don't drive aggressive but needing a THIRD set of tires in 45K miles? Unacceptable. Acura TL here I come...
5 Years and 186,000 Miles Later...
Purchased new in September 2006 to replace a 1999 Camry LE V6 with 225,000 miles on it that I had purchased used. I've replaced the brakes once (will need to replace again soon), the struts once, the battery last month, and changed the oil every 7 to 10,000 miles. I've not had a single problem otherwise (except when a deer ran into it a couple years ago). Not a very exciting car, but a comfortable and reliable one.
