Used car values are constantly changing. Edmunds lets you track your vehicle's value over time so you can decide when to sell or trade in.
Failure
Watch out for ball-joint failures. Toyota won't cover. Dealer claims there's nothing wrong, but car won't go straight above 45mph. It rattles, the rear shocks thump loud and hard every bump (like the 1996). JBL radio is low quality cd, fm, and mp3 all sound the same. You can't open the rear windows above 30 because of the deafening wind noise. The large trans-tunnel gets hot and is tight to the drives right leg.
unsafe to drive
After app. 500 miles this car began to hesitate on acceleration at stoplights on left turns from stops and in normal driving. This is not a slight lag on acceleration but a total lack of power. The gas pedal can be to the floor for at least a count of 5 seconds before the car starts any acceleration, when it slowly reaches 40 mph acceleration is fine. This does not happen all the time. Transmission does not know sometimes what it is doing when its shifting up or down. One dealer says there is nothing wrong with this car. Another dealership admits to this problem but says there no cure yet. I have reported to the NHTSA that this car is unsafe for the road. We now have 5000+ miles on it.

Love mine
The 2007Camry was the Car of the Year. I bought it new in March, 2007. It runs like it's brand new. It's always been a tiny bit slow on acceleration but I didn't expect 0-60 in 5 seconds! Once I get past that, it just opens up - I've never had a ticket but now I have to watch the speed. There's an MP3 or 4 player somewhere - I've never figured it out. I also can't for the life of me, figure out the cruise control. I've used it on past cars - it's usually mounted on the steering wheel and I could hit it with one finger. This is on a separate piece - I've had so many people show me and I just don't get it. It's great on gas, the ride is smooth & quiet. What I really hate (this seems to be most cars) is the lousy plastic lens on the headlights. Kits don't work for beans. I found a place that uses some chemical & an ultraviolet light to keep them clear. Looking at reviews of newer LE's, Toyota needs to just fix those lights (no plastic, please), the cruise control (one has to take their eyes off the road to use it) and that's the only revamping it needs. A better choice of colors would be nice - all I could find was white or tan. Toyota, go back to the 2007 model and use that - mine's 11 1/2 yrs. old and except for the dings from parking lots, it looks & runs like new.

Oil Consumption
This is our second Camry. First was a 2000 model. After 6 great years with our first Camry we decided to purchase a newly designed 2007. We love the styling inside and out. The only real problem with our car is the oil consumption. at 80k is uses about a quart every 1500 miles. We did research and found other Camry owners with same problem or worse. Toyota has an oil consumption category in the owners manual that states it may use up to 1.1 quarts every 600 miles. NOW COME ON! Who else has that category? My family has owned Toyota for many years. We are now looking for a new vehicle. This makes it very difficult to buy another Toyota. Where has the quality gone?
