Quantum Leap

I have driven Camrys for 20+ years. My '07 Camry LE V6 is clearly superior to any prior Camry. While the '03 was roomy and comfortable, the steering and handling were very vague. The '07 tightens the ride and improves the steering noticably. The interior is upgraded markedly, and although there is a bit less headroom, the added telescoping feature of the steering wheel combined with the greater travel of the seat (which is even more comfortable than the '03's) yields greater comfort. The engine is smooth, quiet and powerful. The transmission is seamless and, with six forward gears, the engine is virtually never strained in ordinary driving. I like the exterior styling (see in darker colors).

Good Family Car

This is a good family car. It is quiet, i.e. both road noise and wind noise are low. The V6 engine is smooth and low noise also. The transmission is excellent, shifts smoothly and accurately. Drive is soft and comfortable. This car cannot be really called fun to drive though because it leans quite a bit and is not very composed while cornering (even moderately hard), I guess it is the price you pay for a smooth ride. Design interior and exterior are pretty good, simple and ergonomic. I am bit disappointed in the build quality given Toyota's reputation. I can hear a few rattles and squeaks at high speeds. Safety features are outstanding though as it should be for a family car.

Oil Consumption

This is our second Camry. First was a 2000 model. After 6 great years with our first Camry we decided to purchase a newly designed 2007. We love the styling inside and out. The only real problem with our car is the oil consumption. at 80k is uses about a quart every 1500 miles. We did research and found other Camry owners with same problem or worse. Toyota has an oil consumption category in the owners manual that states it may use up to 1.1 quarts every 600 miles. NOW COME ON! Who else has that category? My family has owned Toyota for many years. We are now looking for a new vehicle. This makes it very difficult to buy another Toyota. Where has the quality gone?

Great car, with room for improvement

I picked up my car two weeks ago. Great car and a very smooth ride. Good mileage (29 mpg for combined city and highway driving on my first tank). Within a couple of days, noticed that the car was pulling to the left. I took it to the dealer and he said that it needs alignment (due to being tied on a truck; why can't dealers check it before customers pick up their cars?). I also noticed that at 70 mph with cross-wind, the car almost seems to float and moves sideways quite a bit (not sure if it related to alignment or car is extremely aerodynamic). I have the same complaint about door strips.

Liked my 03 better in some way

Just picked up a new 07 Camry LE automatic with the base 4 cylinder. Traded an 03 of the same model in for it. New model is a tad quieter but still doesn't handle really well. The styling is ok in some areas and weird in others. The front end treatment looks like it has a buck tooth and the rear looks droopy. I like the style of my 03 better. The interior is nicer though. I would wish for more than 158 hp and a transmission that didn't react with a clunk when you take your foot off the accelerator to take a turn. Also why is every new Toyota being made without the door strips to protect from so many unforgiving motorists from door jams? Trunk is smaller than my 03 also.
