Used 1996 Toyota Avalon XL 4dr Sedan Consumer Reviews
Great Car
One owner but driven by father for 3.5 years and by son forover 4 years. Front brake pads not replaced until over 100,00 miles. Give this car regular oil changes and it will run forever. No mechanical difficulties, great paint job and Plenty of room for 5.
Very Reliable & comfortable
Purchased the car with 143k miles, it's been a great family car. It's never let us down. Car fits 3 upfront if you need too with plenty of room upfront & in the back. Very smooth ride!

Luxury Toyota
I have had my Avalon for 8 years now and it has been a great car to drive. I love the larger interior and big trunk too. The A/c and heater are ten times better at cooling and heating than my Lexus. The ride is excellent and the engine is awesome. The paint does chip off really easy but overall this car has been the best Toyota that I have ever owned.
'96 Avalon, nice but boring
I bought the car for my wife in '99 with 36k miles. It now has 168k miles. The car was flawless until 150k miles when it needed a new power steering pump and rack to the tune of $1700. It's now my "bad weather" car since my wife got a 2004 Sienna. The car has a lot of room, and is reasonably comfortable. Performance and gas mileage are good for the size. Handling is adequate for the type of car it is, but nothing to get excited about. I tend to prefer Hondas while my wife prefers Toyotas, but both are great cars.
100000 miles and running
The first striking thing about the toyota avalon is the spacious interior. It has a lot of room for both the back seats and the front. The car is somewhat lacking in the design in the interior, however. It is somewhat dull and not extraordinarly exciting. This is compensated for by the engine. The very same engine of the Lexus E 300 and even after 100,000 miles on mine it still runs absolutely perfectly. The car is by far the smoothest car I've ridden in. And if you want a good, reliable, smooth and classic car, look into the Toyota Avalon. Its really worth it. I mean, honestly, who goes online to write a review about a car unless they really like it?
