a turtle with an ipod
had six 4 runners over a 25 year period. so obviously have been happy with them, PREVIOUSLY. have had the '10 limited for five months now and so disapointed with it, i sold it new years weekend. gas mileage 17mpg, pickup/acceleration is terrible. so underpowered. dont believe the HP is adequate for the mass of the vehicle. need to downshift constantly in order to get up the slightest incline. apprehensive to enter a highway. wouldnt try passing a scooter. if your looking to only drive it to the local green market then ok. otherwise look at anything else.
4wd Trail Edition can't be beat
For years I've wanted a 4Runner and when they came out with the Trail Edition, I finally bought one. Standard rear locking diff, Multi-terrain 4wd select, multi-speed crawl control (like cruise control for 4wd). With the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension system handles like a car at high speeds. In terms of handling, features, and interior comfort there is no vehicle like this. Can't wait for March when I get to test all the 4wd features in southern Utah. Although I wasn't crazy about having to pay $2400 for the Nav system, the 15 JBL speaker system that comes with Nav is amazing.

Pared Down!
Lot's less from the '06 to the '10 - 1) No steering wheel controls 2) No locking/interior-release gas cap 3) No auto-latching rear door 4) No auto climate control 5) Less power 6) Thinner sheet metal 7) Power seats are now an add-on option 8) Very pricey
Some things that helped
The annoying ding ding seat belt noise, can & was 90% silenced by legit dealer reprogram. Yeah! Also pop out back door recessed handles and insert about 4 lbs of those soft and quiet ankle weights. Door still opens ok yet closes so much easier. Yeah again. Vehicle travels great. 6 cyl enough power 95% of time. One touch seat reset would be nice. Trailer light hook up unbelievably out of position. Buy 18 in extension at wmt. Pulls my 1500 lb boat silky smooth
Suburban Hauler
After driving Ford explorers for over 10 years, I purchased the 4runner 3 months ago. Likes: -dealer experience -build quality (except doors tinny when shut hard) -big buttons -gas mileage really 17 city/ 23 freeway -practical, not luxurious -rides well on rough dirt roads, as well as smooth pavement -quiet cabin -quiet engine (like a sewing machine) -satellite radio, usb port, -not a minivan -power rear window (excellent ventilation when combined with sunroof) -rear seats fold down flat dislikes: -way too high off the ground and no running boards -orange dials very difficult to read in bright sunlight -too much hard plastic -needs optional cargo cover
