Used 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Consumer Reviews
Wonderful car, 2-3 items need improvement
We were lucky to find our exact trim level but not the color we wanted with Subaru’s 3% financing several days before that deal ended. It enabled us to buy what we wanted with a $20k down and keep the payment reasonable. The car is primarily my wife’s. She is a busy grandma, caring for two grandchildren. I like all the safety features that help her. However, a couple of these features are too nanny like for an experienced driver and should have quieter ways to be disabled. I took an exit to the right quickly the other day and a line of stopped cars still in traffic to my left caused the smart braking system to start beeping away, threatening to slam on the brakes which very fortunately didn’t happen. Drivers do not need noisy nanny warnings in the middle of a lightweight maneuver! The 2.5 motor is just right with a good level of power and economy. I’m a retired auto shop teacher, race car fleet manager, race driver and electrical engineer. This gives me a real appreciation for the tech and driveline qualities of a car. The interior is a bit noisy at highway speed. The moon roof could use a functional quieting air dam and we have to close it at anything above 30mph. I’m used to driving sporting cars. The Subaru handles just ok, braking is excellent. However, it gives a soft comfortable ride over bumps, pot holes and I assume off road so the compromise is not bad. An upgrade could be firmer shocks or some sort of load leveling like the Yamaha system we had in our 2005 4Runner Sport. The paint chips easily, other forum owners agree. Mileage a bit lower than expected but with only 4,000 driven miles, motor's still breaking in and this should improve. Our leather seats could be somewhat more comfortable for longer trips. Build quality is excellent inside or out. We especially appreciate the LED lighting and think this important safety feature should be optionally offered on all trims. While all the switches, buttons, indicators, lights, levers can be a bit overwhelming, overall design and usability is very good, read the manual! Would have appreciated power adjustments for both front seats and steering wheel for our limited trim. Generally, we love the car and feel we got a lot of value in it. Two Years Later! The car has about 16,000 miles. We have not had a single problem with what would generally be classified as all the electrical/mechanical parts of any vehicle. We only had one issue and that was with the stereo. It was solved with a remote software update like any you would do for your smart phone or personal computer. There’s a few things we would like improved however. The car is a bit wind noisy at highway speed. The sunroof especially is hard to use except at low speeds and needs a good wind deflector built in. The front optional leather seats should have come with a lumbar support. The power seat option did not include power for the front passenger seat! THAT’S PLAIN CHEAP! Other than that, we still love it!

Second Crosstrek
This is my second Crosstrek. My first one was a 5 speed manual and this one has the 6 speed. Both had the Premium trim levels. This one has some nice trim additions to my 2017. The 2023 armrest isn't padded with topstitched pleather like the 2017 was but the stitching on the dash evokes the dash of a Mercedes. The added gear on the transmission is a nice addition for the freeway where the 5 speed felt like it was revving to high at freeway speeds. but the car could use another 40-50 horsepower. I know they can do it without a turbo! You know everyone wants more power Subaru! That's why I'm not giving it 5 stars.

Car from the Rising Sun
This car is reliable and drives beautifully. For an AWD it just glides down the road. The seats are very firm but they break in. Crosstreks are built in Japan and are exceptional cars. Highly recommended. I have the 2.0 engine and it has plenty of power in my opinion
Drives great! Lots of pep!
I had to drive home 2 hours in the rain and the Crosstrek did great! I felt safe and the car handled wonderfully.

Perfect
This is the perfect car for me. The size is great for a retired empty nester who's kids live away. I was driving a Kia Sorento that I liked but I didn't need all the space. I'm trying to learn all the bells and whistles. Only had it a week. I love the safety features
