This is my wife's new car, purchased end of year clearance. To get what she wanted, especially at end of year, she had to get the Premium rather than the more basic. The car surprised me after reading the reviews by Edmunds itself. I had to ease off of the gas pedal when it jumped ahead. There was definitely NOT a 10 second gap from 0 to 60. The car gets out of its own way without problem. Merging on the California freeways was no problem at all, the car has plenty of pep. The inside is quite beautiful. The only negative so far is that we can't add ceramic film to the windshield due to the Eyesight cameras. Ceramic film does keep out a good bit of heat on my RAV4 when parked in the hot CA sun all day, keeping the steering wheel warm to the touch in hot sun rather than HOT untouchable. The 2017 Crosstrek has been a pleasure to drive so far. It has been a year, and I am completely happy with my choice of cars. The Crosstrek is still a fun car to drive. It rides and handles beautifully. Subaru has definitely replaced Toyota in my heart.

I give this vehicle an overall 4.9 Stars. My only complaint is the technology...such as, voice command (difficult to use), available apps, and the Starlink (difficult to use) isn't up to par with things like, Android Auto and Apple Carplay that is available in other brand vehicles. Starlink is very sub-par, and needs major improvement. Other than that...EVERYTHING else is perfect! Favorite vehicle I've owned, by far.

Two Years 28K miles. Like a Favorite Pair of Jeans

I have always driven economy compact and subcompact cars. So the engine performance with the Crosstrek doesn't disappoint me. I find it acceptable. My average fuel economy over the 28K miles has been 26 MPG, which is about the same as I had gotten with a Pontiac Vibe, and that is a smaller, lower riding, two wheel drive car. I am not disappointed with the Crosstrek's economy. The higher ride height coupled with great outward visibility creates an amazing driving experience. I always want to be driving, even if I don't have anywhere in particular to go, I just love driving this thing. The HVAC system is logically setup with large rotary controls that have a high quality movement as you twist them. The air-conditioner works good in the desert climate where I live. The heater and windshield defogger work good in winter here, and in the snow up in the mountains. The backup camera displays a very good, clear image of whats behind you, and paired with rear cross traffic alert. really makes backing up less stressful. I LOVE the Eyesight system! I use it everyday commuting to work on the freeway and city streets. Doing my own oil changes is simple with the oil filter on top of the motor, and I installed a Fumoto valve to replace the oil plug. My Crosstrek is Crystal White Pearl, and I have no issues with paint quality. In fact it is a beautiful pearl when kept washed and waxed. For having a small footprint, the Crosstrek is roomy and airy inside. Negatives are a windshield that chips easy, and headlights that are crap. I replaced my headlights with LED's, much, much better now. So, just like a favorite pair of jeans, I always want to be in it. I am ready to take on the day, and whatever the weather and road conditions dish out.

2017 Crosstrek Poor Paint

Lisa, 12/13/2019

I bought my Crosstrek Brand New in 2017, it is a great car with all the bells and whistles I thought I would possibly want for the next ten years. I bought his model for the sportiness of it and its handling. The only down side to the car is the paint is very easy to chip on the hood. I have a multitude of chips on the hood so I took it to the dealership to find out about the warranty on the paint. I was parked in the garage in front of an older model Crosstrek that had severe Hail damage dents were all over that hood, But not one single paint chip. I thought sure I had a valid case then., This years Paint is terrible. But no I just got off the call from the dealer that said he exhausted his attempts to get it covered.... I dont really believe he tried as the last time I called he said his warranty person had not been in..... anyway SUBARU you really need to step up and cover this terrible paint job. Its only been two years with all this chipped paint there is something wrong on your end.
