Great car overall with a few quirks.

2024 Subaru Ascent Onyx Edition 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

I bought a 2024 Subaru Ascent Onyx Edition. I currently have 16k miles on it. What I like: 1. Handling is great. 2. Same engine as the Outback XT that somehow feels more lively in the Ascent even when tested back to back by multiple different people. 3. Subaru reliability. What I don’t like: 1. Having a big screen with fewer buttons is all fun and games until it’s hot and you are mashing the laggy touchscreen hoping to dial the air conditioning up. Sometimes the touchscreen and Starlink system will become unresponsive, requiring you to pull over, turn the car off, open the door, close the door and wait for a bit. 2. EyeSight will occasionally turn off and on intermittently, which is sometimes but not always related to fog or something to do with the windshield. 3. If you pull the car out of park too quickly after engaging the push button start, the car won’t start. Likewise, if you turn the car off to park, it won’t automatically put the car in park, so there are times I’ve turned the car off with it in drive and it’s a bit awkward.

Good thing it's my wife's car!!

The Ascent is a good vehicle, and I agree with Edmund's Pros and Cons. My biggest gripe is all the safety features and how intrusive they are. They are actually a distraction when driving because there's always a buzzer or dinger going off. There is also severe turbo lag and the CVT transmission seems lost at times. My wife probably enjoys the fact that she doesn't have to complain about my driving because the car does it for her!

I've been enjoying my car from day1. It's a big SUV, has great technology and very comfortable. For 2023 they added great technology , I'm loving it.
