Had to get one....
A neighbors tree fell and totaled my 2014 Xterra I had purchased about a year earlier. I knew I wanted another Xterra from the get go as I tow my Bass boat. I did look at a few other SUV's because they have better stereos or better navigation, etc... But once I test drove something else, I KNEW that i was going back to the Xterra. I actually said to myself, "Self, you know if you buy this other SUV, you will be sad whenever you see an Xterra drive by..." So I searched PA,NJ, NY,CT & VA on many different websites. I ended up finding a 2015 with 23k miles in great shape that had come off a lease. As soon as I drove it I knew it was the one. I test drove about 3 others but this one just fit niceeeee...

Xterra vs Wrangler? Xterra...a no brained
I bought the cleanest low.milage Xterra on cars.com. I then paid $3000 over book value, and $700 more to have it shipped to NH. First, I was not impressed by the gas milage, but soon realized most if not all 4x4's achieve very low mpg's. From then on, I truly became more impressed by the Xterra abilities. I've owned well over 100 cars so I've developed a keen sense of what's good and what's not so good. And after shelling out $27k for a 5 yr old, no longer manufactured model, gave me pause. Even with all my knowledge of autos. The Xterra pro4x was in fact a great choice. I always liked the quirky style, but it's so much more. One would not think an on/off road vehicle could be considered sporty. The pro 4x with it's stock Bilstein shocks handles winding roads at speed with no noticable lean. In fact it handles better than some past sports cars I've owned. That... Was a big surprise! One I enjoy more with every mile. The powerband is smooth, quick, and powerful. Great motor Nissan, you fellas nailed it. You can use the throttle to quickly zip thru the winding paths ahead with full confidence. It's an amazingly pleasing driving experience for such a large vehicle expending high ground clearance. It's a point and shoot driving experience. I'm sure there's a limit of adhesion, yet I haven't pushed it's limits to find out what the limit is. No need to.. she's a fine piece of engineering matching power with finesse. The interior is leather, with no squeaks, air leaks or apparent rattles. The seats could use more bolstering but they are comfortable enough. Lots of plastic but name a car that isn't heavily laden in the same. I run full synthetic oil for my cold winter starts. The big v6 purrs on starting even in sub zero morning temps. The Xterra is simply a rare commodity being that it's longer produced. The earlier models did have a coolant issue that would need to be addressed so make note of that and if considering purchasing one. ( Plenty of utube videos on that problem, what to look for and how to deal with it.) Overall... I cringe when I see folks driving $30-45k Jeep wranglers. I feel for them all. They are noisy, drafty, and truly antiquated in comparison, yet maybe that's the draw..driving antiquated machinery. With every jeep I pass, I feel a moment of compassion..they could have had so much more refinement for their hard earned money. My Xterra, a 2015, is the last yr of production, and a superior choice for those needing vehicles with true off/on road capabilities. Owning one is a treat. When it comes time to part with it, it will be hard to find any similar vehicle so we'll balanced between comfort, character, build, and ability. As I approach my golden yrs..I may choose a Lexus RX 350.. but my heart will always be fond of the great untold abilities of the Nissan Xterra.. of the past. A great compilation of parts, power, dependability, and handling in a very uniquely styled package all of its own.

I live my 2015 Xterra. From daily trips to the barn to cross country road trips, I love everything about it and am so disappointed that I can’t trade in for a new one.

Love It!
I love my X-Terra. It gets good mileage both on and off the Highway. It will fit 5 but the back is not comfortable for long trips with 3 people in the back.
