Terrible Transmission and Cheaply Made
Like many others have said, the transmission is terrible. I purchased the car brand new and hadn't had many issues until the last 2 years. Three months into owning the car, the windshield cracked during the winter when I had the defroster on while clearing snow from my windshield. Next, the drivers' side window stopped working. My mechanic said Nissan used a cheap plastic mechanism and that's why it fell apart. Next to go was the rear wiper, which I'm not going to bother fixing. Then the transmission issues started. The issue seems to happen when it's very hot and after at least an hour of driving. I'll be driving on the highway with no issues at all, and all of a sudden the car will slow down. I'll press the pedal to the floor and the car will not go over 50-60 MPH. If I'm driving in traffic and have to slow down, it takes 10-15 seconds for the car to speed back up. It's scary and dangerous. Once the car is off for an hour or so, it will start back up with no issues. If it's still scorching hot out, the problem does start again after driving for a while. Other than those issues, the car runs pretty loudly, the light cloth seats stain easily (like from dark jeans), the button to change into sport mode is in an awkward spot that I always turn on accidentally, I get complaints that there's loud background noise while using Bluetooth, the car mats are cheaply made and have tears in them from normal use, etc. I hate to complain about Nissan because I've driven a Nissan for the last 17 years, but I'm incredibly disappointed in this car and will be switching to Honda when I trade in this piece of junk. It seems like they've cut corners and cheapened what was once a very reliable company.

Save up for a transmission replacement
Our 2013 Rogue has between 70-80 thousand miles. This summer, the the engine suddenly lost power while on a long trip, and I couldn't accelerate beyond 60 mph. We took it to a mechanic, and they said the transmission was shot. Apparently the transmissions in most 2013-2016 Rogues have these issues after 60k miles, and need to be replaced. Nissan's warranty on the 2013 Rogue is 60K miles, but we're appealing to Nissan to see if they will work with us on fixing the issue. The newer Rogue's don't appear to have these issues, but I'd advise against buying a used Rogue made between 2013 and 2016.

In one word: Practical
I was happy with my 2013 Nissan Rogue for the first 5 years as I wasn't experiencing the transmission issues. I figured Nissan fixed all that. Nope. The CVT has always struggled going up basic hills and mountain terrain. I have an auxillary transmission cooler as part of the deluxe package, which I think is helping to keep it from losing power due to overheating. But it has begun leaking and needs replaced at only 40,000 miles. I recommend having this extra cooler for CVT longetivity but it also introduces the potential for leakage (extra hoses, etc.). The OEM tires dry-rotted within a year - garbage. The body rattles underneath and some cheaply-made exhaust shields make a metal grinding noise at certain RPM ranges. The electric power steering gave out during sub-zero cold weather. The car is easy to maintain otherwise and it runs pretty good, getting about 25mpg fuel efficiency on average. I don't follow the manual and instead change the coolant and transmission oil every 30,000 miles despite it being touted as 'lifetime'. Using full synthetic 5W30 engine oil has proven to be good for it. If Nissan hadn't put such garbage underpowered CVTs in these, and had used some better quality parts (exhaust shields, tires, etc.), these would be decent cars. Cargo room is good. Comfort is good. SV / SL package options are nice. There are blind spots but easily overcome by adjusting mirrors and using rearview camera. Engine runs good and is easy to maintain. Nissan used to be good but the Renault aquisition brought the quality downhill. Hopefully, with a rigid maintenance schedule and light use, I can get 100K out of this. But I'm losing confidence in that. I will never buy another Nissan.

Death trap
Accelerated on it own. Could have killed someone or have been killed. Noticed early on that if I left in running in the driveway it would accelerate while in park. Just thought it was a idiosyncracy of the car. What really got me is the first thing Nissan asked was how OLD was the driver. Then within a few hours after reporting the incident I got a call from a Nissan salesman suggesting I by a new car. How tacky. We were still in shock that this happened.

lucky my family survived road trips
My 2013 rogue had issues as soon as it reached 60,000 miles. Accerlation would stop on major highways with my foot to the floor on the gas pedal it would not accelerate, and actually would almost stop completely. I stalled once at a turn getting onto I-95 and went into full panic attack since I had my children in the car. I managed to get it to the side of the road and after an hour it came on and drove like nothing happened. Brought it to the garage several times explaining my problems. They replaced the o2 sensor, fuel pump, battery you name it and the problem never resolved and was extremely apparent it wasn't fixed only when i tried to make any trip longer than 3 hours. This is a dangerous problem and if i see anyone at any store get out of a nissan rogue I will make them aware of my problems so maybe i could save a family from dying if they choose to take this family car on any vacation. oh and come to find out it was a faulty transmission all along...I want to rid myself f this vehicle since I am scared to drive it again after all of the same posts i have seen from other families with the same exact problems of this 2013 rogue. what a nightmare...I always bought Nissan, not after this last experience and a complete waste of my money.
